In the Hivernage district – the beating heart of Marrakech – close to the city’s medina, souks, gardens and museums, this is the realised ambition of artist, entrepreneur and once-owner of Paris’ Moulin Rouge, Jean Bauchet and his family. It is now run by his daughter Elisabeth Bauchet-Bouhlal with her son Jean-Alexandre and his wife Caroline. Over the years, the resort has expanded and adapted to the needs of its guests but has always retained a strong sense of place and responsibility to the environment. For example, Es Saadi’s eight-acre tree-filled garden maintains a rich ecosystem and the restaurants use organic products from the nearby family-run farm, Le Potager du Bled.
Today, the resort comprises the original casino and five-star 1960s hotel with restored vintage pool, a palace with exceptional suites and 2,400m² pool, 10 stunning private villas, eight Berber-inspired ksars, restaurants, bars, Theatro nightclub and two spas including the impressive 3,000m² Es Saadi Palace Spa. New for 2025 is the immersive Jnane Elisabeth secret garden, an exhibition space showcasing the owner’s private collection of artwork viewed by appointment only. The private ksars and villas are popular with groups of friends and families for their butler and Clefs d’Or concierge service.
Of course, laying by the pool is always an option but there’s so much to see and do such as yoga, golfing on 11 courses and winter skiing less than an hour away. Es Saadi guests also have access to clay tennis and padel courts, plus Casino de Marrakech and Theatro nightclub’s shows featuring jugglers and dancers.

Cocooned by exotic, landscaped gardens in the city’s prestigious Hivernage district is Es Saadi Marrakech Resort, founded by Jean Bauchet – the visionary entrepreneur behind Paris’ Moulin Rouge. Now under the stewardship of his daughter Elisabeth Bauchet-Bouhlal, accommodations are wide and varied ranging from villas and ksars to five-star hotel rooms and plush suites in the serene Palace (where the spa is located).
Timeless scenes of the snowcapped Atlas Mountains and gardens shaded by palms and eucalyptus are framed by their windows, whilst the nearby medina and Menara Gardens lure you away for some exploration. Designed as a temple of holistic well-being, a standout feature is the Oriental Thermae®, an immersive hydrotherapy circuit of nine dry and wet heat experiences enhanced by light, sound and scent. Traditional Moroccan hammam treatments and centuries-old rituals involving heat therapy, exfoliation and cleansing with black soap are also highlights. In the lush gardens of the Es Saadi Marrakech Resort, autumn is experienced with hands in the soil and senses awakened. The Es Saadi offers an outdoor cooking workshop, using produce harvested beforehand from the Potager du Bled, cultivated according to organic farming principles. This farm, located in the Ourika Valley, is home to a wealth of aromatic herbs (basil, verbena, thyme, peppermint, coriander, etc.), seasonal vegetables and fruits, grown without fertilizers or chemicals.
Around a work surface set up in the heart of the resort’s lush gardens, participants cook, guided by the authentic flavors of the terroir and the powerful aromas of Moroccan spices. Guided by the chef’s advice, they immerse themselves in the local gastronomic culture and reconnect with essential cycles.

Discover the signature Le Bienheureux treatment (80 min – 2,900 MAD). A four-hand massage combining hot water balls, gliding movements, pressure, and vibrations to envelop the body in a unique sensation of floating. A unique sensory ballet of rare fluidity.

On the first floor of the Palace, a museum space opens its doors to visitors: Jnane Elisabeth—literally “Elisabeth’s garden.”
A name that owes nothing to chance. Like an intimate garden, this personal collection The name is no coincidence. Like an intimate garden, this personal collection by Elisabeth Bauchet-Bouhlal reveals a deep connection to Moroccan creativity, history, and culture.
The current exhibition, From Morocco with Love, celebrates more than 60 years of Moroccan artistic creation through works of art by 65 artists. It features major figures in modern Moroccan art, the innovative impulses of the Casablanca School, and more contemporary expressions by committed artists. Each work recounts a moment, a vision, an emotion—between tradition, exploration, and transmission.
This new space is designed to be seen, but above all to be felt. You don’t visit Jnane Elisabeth like a museum; you enter it as if it were a living, personal space. An invitation to take your time, to contemplate and to enrich yourself.
The “From Morocco with Love” exhibition is open for self-guided or guided tours until February 2026.
