The Nare

A fifth-generation hotelier, proprietor Toby Ashworth is a hands-on host at The Nare. His grandmother, Bettye Gray, purchased this characterful house in 1989 and it has been Cornwall’s highest rated hotel ever since. A traditional five-star country house hotel, it was awarded Condé Nast Johansens Best Hotel for Sustainability in 2019 and is considered one of the most comfortable hotels in the South West.

Situated in a secluded bay, The Nare is surrounded by beautifully landscaped sub-tropical gardens, rolling hills and sea views. Luxurious bedrooms and suites look out to this idyllic scene, and most have patios or balconies. The Nare’s four, two-bedroom, two-bathroom Whittington Suites are exceptionally spacious, and believed to be the largest sea-facing hotel suites in Britain. They also feature large balconies or terraces and of course, stunning sea views over Carne Beach and across to Gerrans Bay.

Hotel facilities include two sea-view restaurants, warm indoor and outdoor pools, a health spa, and access to a long, sandy beach. The Dining Room and The Quarterdeck Seafood Restaurant (dine on the terrace when the weather permits) offer daily-changing table d’hôte and à la carte menus that specialise in traditional English cuisine. Both serve local seafood dishes and delicious home-made puddings; daily afternoon cream tea is also a tradition and included for all residents. Alice Rose, The Nare’s 38ft classic motor launch is available for day trips and there are many other sights to explore nearby including pretty Cornish gardens, historic churches, quaint fishing villages, and medieval castles.

• Adults Only? Guests of all ages are welcome.
• Dog Friendly? Dogs are welcome.
• On-site Restaurants/Bars? The Dining Room; The Quarterdeck.
• Dress Code? The Nare is a traditional country house hotel, so in the evening there is a more formal dress code than is usually found in many other more modern and casual establishments. It is expected that guests change for dinner and dress for the occasion in the Dining Room. Most guests prefer to follow a jacket and tie guideline. This is purely a guideline, since there are no set rules.
• Car Park & Vehicle Charging? Complimentary parking and electric car charging are available to guests.
• WiFi Access? Complimentary WiFi is available.
• Accessibility? There is one wheelchair-accessible room with wet-room washing facilities in addition to a number of more accessible rooms located on the ground floor equipped with walk-in showers. There are also many rooms and suites on the first floor which have walk-in showers. The Nare has a small lift, which operates between the ground floor, first floors and indoor swimming pool. Nare Reservations are available from 7am to 11pm to provide advice on rooms that best suits one’s requirements.

The Nare’s elegant Alice Rose, a 38ft gentleman’s motor launch, is available for guests’ private use, and perfect for exploring the Fal and Helford Rivers; both stunning Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
