About us
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is a place that delights and inspires children, where they can take off on fantastic flights of imagination daily, and return to earth to build a circuit, throw a clay pot and turn an eight-foot waterwheel. Named one of the Top 10 Best Museums for Families by USA Today reader poll in 2017, the Museum welcomes more than 302,000 visitors annually and provides tons of fun and loads of “real stuff” experiences for play and learning. Hands-on, interactive exhibit areas and experiences that inspire joy, creativity and curiosity include The Studio, Theater, Waterplay, Nursery, Backyard and a changing exhibits gallery. Explore MAKESHOP, a dedicated space where kids and adults can build and tinker with old and new technologies, exciting projects and cutting-edge media including stop motion animation, woodworking, sewing, weaving, electronics and more. The Museum’s award-winning, three-story building connects two historic buildings, Allegheny Post Office Building & the Buhl Building. Its center building is screened by a shimmering wind sculpture created by environmental artist Ned Kahn (Articulated Cloud). The Museum is a certified green building (Silver LEED) and was honored by the American Institute for Architects and the National Historic Preservation Trust.

What an incredible evening! Great Night Gala: Sports Change Lives was a smashing success. We were honored to present the Great Friend of Children Award to the DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation, represented by Rick Jordan. Their generosity and dedication to supporting children and families continues to leave a lasting impact on our community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this night possible: gala chair Lee Belitsky, our committee members, board of directors, dedicated staff and volunteers, generous sponsors (DICK'S Sporting Goods, PNC, UPMC Health Plan, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and more), donors, and every guest who joined us.

We were thrilled to be part of the 2026 NFL Draft in so many meaningful ways including debuting new artworks, displaying some favorite outdoor exhibits at the draft, and so much more. It was incredible to be featured on the NFL Draft stage, and to bring outdoor exhibit components Rope and Spinning Chairs to the Kids Play Zone. We were also proud to be involved with the installation of multiple public art pieces throughout the city, including Ogua by Isla Hansen in partnership with Shiftworks Community + Public Arts and Riverlife, Local Time and Weather by John Peña which is at Arts Landing Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and custom window displays created in partnership with Fred Rogers Productions along with windows highlighting the Children’s Museum and MuseumLab as part of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership storefront activation. A special thank you to P3R for utilizing our space, and to ENGIE Impact, on behalf of the NFL and official NFL vendors, for their generous donations of turf, materials, snacks, and more that are being sustainably repurposed at the museum. And a final thank you goes out to all of the visitors, donors, foundations, corporate partners, staff, and board members who engaged with us and worked on behalf of the draft to make it a weekend to remember. Congratulations to the teams at VisitPITTSBURGH, National Football League (NFL), and Pittsburgh Steelers on a truly successful and record‑breaking event. It's an honor to have been a part of it.
