The Viscardi Center is a network of non-profits dedicated to educating, employing, and empowering children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities. Founded in 1952 by Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr., who served as an adviser to eight U.S. presidents and became one of the world’s leading disability advocates, The Viscardi Center provides a lifespan of programs and services, including: • K-12 (up to age 21) education for children with severe physical disabilities • Work-readiness training, career counseling, and job placement • Youth Transition Services, including a six-week summer program • Attendance retention programs for “at-risk” youth • Assistive technology services • Adapted driver education • Employer best practices and workforce diversification resources • Document Remediation Services and Web Accessibility Training for businesses

✨ ONE YEAR. ONE PURPOSE. ONE DREAM. ✨ Six years ago, I told myself that someday I would lead a place that created a space for an underrepresented history to be seen, heard, and understood — even when the stories are difficult. This week marks ONE YEAR as Director of the Museum of Disability History and having an awesome team by my side 💛 What a year it has been 🥲 From traveling to other museums and building meaningful collaborations, to speaking with museum professionals, educators, students, and community groups… from creating programs and art collaborations to being featured on television and now being invited to serve as a keynote speaker at Hofstra University this October — I’m incredibly grateful for every opportunity to grow this mission ✨ But this isn’t just a job to me. It’s a passion. It’s a purpose. It’s a responsibility to make sure disability history has a place at the table. 🗣️ The woman I was six years ago would be so proud to see where I am today. Inspired, amazed, and hopeful are some of the words to describe the past few days at the TOM Tikkun Olam Makers fellowship kickoff in Atlanta. I am grateful to be part of an amazing team of individuals at TOM who are passionate about making a difference in the world. Excited to continue to work with amazing makers and innovators on new challenges. I am so happy to be part of educating these wonderful group of students on human centered innovation and designing with a purpose. I can’t wait to hear and see what solutions and experiences these motivated and enthusiastic fellows design and create over the next year.
