As of July 30, 2026, Kenya has introduced a new mandatory travel health insurance requirement for nearly all non-Kenyan citizens entering the country. Under Gazette Notice No. 11492, travelers must carry a policy with at least $50,000 in coverage. The $50,000 minimum is broken down across five categories, including emergency medical evacuation, medical expenses, and mental health care. Check out our Kenya travel guide for a full breakdown of these requirements and coverage limits: https://lnkd.in/gZR23j_2

As the news of wildfires from the United States to Southern Europe continues, it is important to remind travelers just how travel insurance covers natural disasters. The timing of when a travel insurance policy was bought matters. A wildfire becomes a "known event" the moment it starts and is reported by the news or a government agency, so a policy has to be bought before that point for coverage to apply. This is different from hurricanes, which only become a known event once they are named by a government agency like the National Hurricane Center. We put together a full breakdown of the timing and triggers by each common natural disaster: https://lnkd.in/eQ9FjCEW

The U.S. Department of State recently updated its Level 2 Travel Advisory for the Bahamas due to increased levels of crime across the islands. The updated summary, which was made on Tuesday, July 28, highlights key areas of awareness for travelers, including: • Important safety considerations when staying in private vacation rental properties • Increased awareness surrounding unregulated jet ski and boat rentals, where safety standards and regulations may vary • Specific advice urging caution in the “Over the Hill” area in Nassau It's important to remind travelers that a Level 2 advisory update isn't a red flag to cancel travel plans, but rather routine, practical guidance from the State Department to help travelers stay safe and informed. Moments like this are a good opportunity to educate travelers well before they go on a trip. That means taking practical steps like staying aware of local safety guidance, planning ahead for water activities and other adventure sports, and having the right insurance so unexpected medical or travel issues are covered along the way. We put together a full guide on traveling to the Bahamas right now, with safety tips for the destination and an overview of how travel insurance offers support: https://lnkd.in/gXpKqaqt

For travelers with pre-existing conditions, price is often the first factor considered when comparing visitors insurance plans. While price matters, understanding the amount of pre-existing conditions coverage they're getting matters just as much, and is often overlooked. Many travelers come to our Customer Success Team with questions about exactly how pre-existing conditions are covered in visitors insurance. They are often surprised that there is a distinction between ongoing treatment for a pre-existing condition and a sudden, acute recurrence of that condition. Without knowing this distinction, they sometimes end up with a plan that doesn't cover what they expected. So when travelers are comparing plans, the best question to ask first is, “How does this plan define and handle pre-existing conditions?” That distinction can matter far more than the premium. https://lnkd.in/gawQFyg7

One of the most common conversations our customer success team sees starts with: “I don't need travel protection. My credit card already covers travel insurance. I just want medical coverage." When we dig deeper, most travelers haven't actually reviewed what that coverage includes. Many credit card benefits were designed as supplemental protections and not as a standalone travel insurance solution. This becomes most apparent during peak travel times, especially the summer, when delays, cancellations, and travel disruptions become more common. Travelers, unfortunately, realize that their credit card's travel insurance has much stricter coverage limits, reimbursement rules, and benefit triggers. So while you're looking for a plan with strong medical coverage, make sure you are considering trip protection too. Oftentimes, you'll find the best plans have a strong balance of both. https://lnkd.in/gYabZ2M7

72.2 million Americans are projected to travel this 4th of July weekend, according to AAA. This upcoming weekend is also one of the most common times of year for travel disruptions, from flight cancellations to congested roads that can change your plans on the spot. What many travelers don’t know is that they can get travel insurance days before their trip and still get coverage. If a flight gets canceled, a bag goes missing, or something comes up and you need to cut your trip short, having a plan in place can help cover your prepaid trip expenses. A common concern we hear: "Do I need to buy within the 14-21 day window?" For domestic travel, that window mainly applies to pre-existing condition coverage and Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR), neither of which is the primary worry for a quick July 4th trip. Your domestic health insurance already covers medical emergencies at home, and CFAR is typically for travelers who want the flexibility to cancel for any reason well before their trip. The main protections like trip delays, missed connections, and interruptions are still available when you purchase at the last minute. We broke down exactly what last-minute travel insurance covers for domestic trips and what to look for when comparing plans: https://lnkd.in/gtCbwZ72

Thailand has reversed its popular 60-day stay exemption back to a strict 30-day limit, which will impact travelers flying into major hubs like Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai from dozens of nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. This shift has left many vacationers and long-term visitors with the same questions: Which countries are restricted to the new 30-day limit? Can you extend a 30-day stay once you land? What documents will border security expect to see upon arrival? To help travelers avoid any unexpected surprises at the border, we've broken down everything you need to know about Thailand's updated entry requirements, the essential documents required, and how to keep your journey secure. The checklist for a Schengen visa is longer than what most applicants expect, with requirements that must be complete and consistent across your visa application. Millions of people save up, plan carefully, and apply for a Schengen visa every year. Knowing exactly what is required is the most valuable thing travelers can do to set themselves up for a successful application.
