About us

YouTube is a team-oriented, creative workplace where every single employee has a voice in the choices we make and the features we implement. We work together in small teams to design, develop, and roll out key features and products in very short time frames. Which means something you write today could be seen by millions of viewers tomorrow. And even though we’re a part of Google and enjoy all of the corporate perks, it still feels like you’re working at a startup. YouTube is headquartered in San Bruno, California, 12 miles south of San Francisco. We also have many job openings in Mountain View, and across the globe

What happens when a cult-classic YouTube format turns 10? We found out his past weekend, as we teamed up with Amelia Dimoldenberg to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Chicken Shop Date with a sold-out, experiential event in London. It was the perfect match, as we continue our 20th anniversary celebrations, and Amelia uses her 10-year milestone to create something aimed at giving back to the next generation of aspiring creators. The exhibition took visitors on a humorous, informative, and interactive journey through the making of the show and the broader creative process, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how Chicken Shop Date was developed from concept to cult classic. Crucially, the event also celebrated the Dimz Inc. Academy and its mission to open pathways into the creative industries for aspiring talent. It's a masterclass in how content creators are building businesses that pay it forward. A new report from KPMG analyzing global content payout across major media companies found that YouTube was the second largest contributor to content creation in terms of content spend in 2024, paying out more than $32B to partners globally. 📈💰 https://lnkd.in/eu565UyJ While traditional media spends on production, our spend is defined, in large part, by the ad revenue we share with creators, artists, and media companies. That means more money goes directly to the storytellers and artists building businesses on our platform. The output is a thriving ecosystem of 3M+ people earning through YouTube Partner Program! 🤝 Learn how it all works here → https://yt.be/TgY97

No one knows YouTube better than our creators and artists. So this year at #MadeOnYouTube, our biggest product event of the year, we let them do the talking to help us announce 30+ new products and features coming to our platform. Some of the most inspiring names on our platform—Brandon Baum, Mark Rober, Lana Rae, Courtney Miller, Shayne Topp, Dua Lipa, Christen Dominique and Katarina Mogus—showed what our new tools can really do and shared their excitement for all of the amazing product innovation happening at YouTube. Made On YouTube and our Creator Collective event later that day drove home what is so clear to everyone working at YouTube: our creators are leading a revolution in media and technology. They are brand ambassadors, big business ventures, startups of Hollywood and visionary storytellers who are pushing the boundaries of what's possible on YouTube and beyond. Our AI-powered creation tools, from Edit with AI to Ask Studio, will empower their creativity and help build an even deeper connection with their audiences. And then there's music: the very soundtrack of YouTube. Dua Lipa, who started off posting covers on YouTube as a teenager, now stands as a blueprint for modern music fandom. She shows how artists can use every part of our platform—from Shorts to cinematic music videos—to build deep, authentic connections with their millions of fans. Our new music tools are designed to supercharge this bond, enabling artists to create intimate, special moments at scale and reward the loyalty of their most dedicated listeners. With creators and artists at the forefront, cutting-edge AI technology will push the limits of human creativity, and YouTube will continue to be the stage where it all happens: where anyone with a story can turn their dream into a career and anyone with a voice can bring people together and change the world.

Twenty years ago, YouTube revolutionized storytelling and made a huge bet on the creativity and ambition of people all over the world. Today, that bet has paid off. At our fourth annual #MadeOnYouTube, we announced that we’ve paid out over $100B to creators, artists, and media companies over the last four years alone. And we debuted a wave of over 30 new products and features, many powered by AI, and all designed to fuel the next 20 years of entertainment and creativity on our platform. Three big takeaways from the event: 1. We believe AI will empower human creativity and storytelling. But make no mistake—no studio, network, tech company, or AI tool will own the future of entertainment. That power belongs to creators and we’re here to support them every step of the way. We announced tools that will fuel new forms of creativity including Google DeepMind’s Veo 3 in Shorts and speech to song, and new features like Edit with AI that will democratize creation for everyone. 2. AI is also reshaping the viewer experience, bringing creators and artists even closer to their fans. This week we announced updates across our platform in live, podcasting, music, and recommendations: - We’re making our biggest update to livestreams ever, including effortless streaming across formats and a practice mode to help creators get started. - We’re transforming audio podcasts into video podcasts using both Gemini and Veo, offering viewers an immersive way to experience their favorite shows and enabling creators to experiment with video in a lightweight way. - We’re supercharging the bond between artists and their most dedicated listeners by allowing fans to pre-save upcoming albums and view countdowns to releases.  - Our new AI-powered recommendations tool allows viewers to talk with YouTube about what they’re interested in, giving viewers a much more personalized homepage. 3. YouTube is the undisputed home of the creator economy. We’ve long invested in helping creators build thriving businesses and we know that collaborating with brands is critical. We've been focused on a new initiative to accelerate brand deals, and, looking ahead, we’ll give creators new tools like dynamically inserted brand segments to make sure these partnerships succeed. In order to remain the place where creativity flourishes, communities thrive and businesses grow, we must continue to evolve with each piece of new technology. We're building on our track record of responsibility and decades-long expertise in developing powerful copyright management tools to give creators the protections and controls they need to thrive in the new AI landscape. Thank you to Brandon BaumMark Rober, Lana Rae, Courtney Miller, Shayne Topp, Dua Lipa, Christen Dominique and Katarina Mogus for taking the stage with us, and to our YouTube teams for relentlessly focusing on shipping products for our creators, artists, viewers, and partners. This past Friday, the Los Angeles Chargers played the Kansas City Chiefs in São Paulo, Brazil…and for the first time, the rest of the world watched (for free) on YouTube. Our first National Football League (NFL) broadcast set a record for the most concurrent viewers of a livestream on YouTube. A key part of making Friday's game such a unique experience was investing in product innovation. Four creators (iShowSpeed, Tom Grossi, Robegrill and Bryan SKabeche) hosted their own Watch With streams, and CazéTV provided their own commentary live from Corinthians Arena for viewers in Brazil. Thanks to our Infrastructure team’s careful planning, we were able to reliably deliver the game with beautiful picture quality at 1080p resolution. When viewers tuned in, they got a mix of classic football and creators that is uniquely YouTube: Kurt Warner and Rich Eisen broke down each play, Stacey Dales and Deestroying reported live, Kay Adams and Cam Newton hosted our pregame and postgame shows and Karol G performed at the halftime show. For years, we’ve been investing in making YouTube a place where viewers can watch everything in one place: from live games and highlights to creator commentary. We made a top-notch viewer experience, got the right partnerships in place, and supported our community of incredible creators, whose content keeps viewers tuning in. Thank you to the NFL and to our YouTube teams for making this game possible. Together, we’re not just streaming content; we're innovating to superserve sports fans, bringing communities together and shaping the future of how the world experiences sports. The game has truly changed.
