HDFC Bank HDFC Tru HDFC Mutual Fund Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) SEBI moneycontrol.com Just read the recent interview of Navneet Munot , MD & CEO of HDFC Mutual Fund, conducted by moneycontrol.com. The tone is upbeat: “the SIP party has only just begun”, “India’s mutual-fund product is one of the most transparent in the world”, “look beyond the top cities for penetration” … all worthy ideas. Yet ask yourself: how often in such interviews does the line of questioning shift from “growth story” to “governance risk”, from “market opportunity” to “what about under-performing schemes or fees?” In this piece, it barely does. When business media gives CEOs unchallenged platforms to tell their story, we risk converting journalism into air-time for reputation brands. Not to say there’s no value — investor-education is needed — but the balance is off. For credible public discourse, we need media to ask: Which unitholders suffered? Which schemes lagged? What happens if retail penetration stalls? Which fee models align with trust? Because at the end of the day, trust isn’t built by slogans. It’s built by transparency, uncomfortable questions and accountability. #MediaEthics #MutualFunds #CorporateAccountability #InvestorTrust #FinancialJournalism #IndiaInvesting

HDFC Mutual Fund HDFC Bank HDFC Tru Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) SEBI Between FY2021 and FY2025, HDFC AMC delivered steady absolute growth—but the story is more nuanced when seen in context of the broader mutual fund industry. 🔹 AUM Growth vs Industry HDFC AMC AUM grew @ 16.8% CAGR BUT Industry AUM grew faster @ +20% CAGR Market share declined from ~13% to ~11.5%, even as peers like SBI MF and ICICI Pru MF gained ground. 🔹 Shareholder Payouts Dividends surged nearly 3x, from ₹34/share in FY21 to ₹90/share in FY25 even as relative market positioning weakened. 🔹 CEO Compensation CEO remuneration (Navneet Munot) rose from ~₹4.1 crore in FY21 to ~₹8.9 crore in FY25. ⚖️ The Paradox Relative underperformance in scale and market share. Absolute shareholder rewards through higher dividends. Generous executive pay growth, raising governance and alignment questions. This raises an important debate for the mutual fund industry Should CEO incentives be tied more closely to relative growth and market share, not just absolute profits and payouts? #HDFCAMC #MutualFunds #CorporateGovernance #NavneetMunot #Investing #IndiaMarkets
