Andy Schuon shared thisAs many of you know, I was recently named CEO of the Academy of Country Music, and I start a week from today. One thing I was most excited about was the opportunity to work with Dolly Parton. Dolly left an indelible mark on country music, but beyond that she was loved by everyone, everywhere. Her legacy is filled with music for the ages, but also her generosity. The Academy will work to ensure Dolly’s music and mission will always be amplified. Rest in Peace Dolly.

Andy Schuon shared thisIt is great to see iHeartRadio's The Breakfast Club is now on Netflix. It all started with REVOLT which was the television debut for Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and the rest. Our goal was to be as live and relevant as possible with the limited resources afforded a start up independent cable network. So, we put cameras in the Power 105-FM studios in New York at iHeart, and built a television broadcast control room down the hall. Val Boreland headed up programming and Bruce Perlmutter put the whole thing together with Doug Z. Goodstein and his team. Breakfast Club was on REVOLT live every morning for years.

It was a pivotal role for you as you built on your scheduling and program planning success at Comedy Central adding a top creative role as head of all programming. I will never forget launch night when we had to manually keep the network on the air with you on the phone to the operations center: "ok, next we are going to play..." Wow that was a completely nerve wracking live TV experience, but you never lost your cool. The photo below is me, Julian Mitchell, Besidone A. and Val testing out our social media touch screen designed for REVOLT Live in the afternoon. It was inspired by Val's fellow honoree Wolf Blitzer. Andy Schuon shared thisOne afternoon I was on the air on KZEP-FM in San Antonio. Just 21, a few months earlier I piloted a U-Haul truck from Seattle where I was working at KISW-FM. Yes my big break came as assistant program director, production director and mid-day jock moving beyond just being a DJ. Station imaging was my passion. I would sometimes work around the clock in the production studio crafting ID's and promos. On this day during a song I picked up one of the many blinking lines on the request line. A voice on the other end said "hey are you the guy that makes the ID's and promos?" "Yes!" I said with much enthusiasm. The caller identified himself as Trip Reeb, program director of our arch rival: San Antonio's number one and nationally known KISS-FM. He told me he had an opening for production director and wanted to know if I would be interested in meeting about it. Spoiler alert - a good portion of my LinkedIn profile is the result of answering the request line that day. Trip and I met after I got off the air, and I was offered the job on the spot. Less than a year later I accompanied Trip to Denver and KAZY-FM where we turned that station around and I got my first job as program director when he left for 91X. As the youngest PD of a radio station in America I quickly made a name for myself. Ratings rose, and offers came in from New York to Los Angeles to oversee the best stations in the nation. But, Trip had just been made General Manager of KROQ-FM in LA. I was likely about to take over KLOS-FM across town, and told Trip that I learned so much from him, and now I'm going to make things hard for him - laughing of course. I asked if KROQ needed a PD, and he said yes. I hung up the phone and went straight to the airport. A few hours later I was at Trip's home in LA. By noon the next day we had met with Mel Karmazin, CEO of Infinity Broadcasting, and Trip had hired me a THIRD time. Bonus round: we worked together a fourth time when I became president of Infinity Broadcasting while Trip was still at KROQ and running the Los Angeles group of stations at that point. Trip Reeb is absolutely one of the greats in radio history, a dear friend, and very special part of my life. Congratulations on this honor. Well deserved. Audacy, Inc. Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. Hubbard Radio Phoenix #radioAndy Schuon shared this2026 Arizona Media Association, Hall of Fame Inductee, Trip Reeb, Vice President/Market Manager, Hubbard Radio Trip Reeb is the Vice President and Market Manager of Hubbard Radio Phoenix, where he has worked since moving to the Valley in 2014 and where he now manages eight stations. Trip’s broadcast career started in 1973 when, after doing radio in college, he became a rock music air talent in Miami, followed by Philadelphia and New York. Trip got on another radio treadmill when he became a program director at the alternative rock station 91X. Then followed his most significant career transition when he became the General Manager of “The World Famous” KROQ in Los Angeles. After almost 20 years Trip moved back to San Diego, and then Hawaii managing other radio groups. Trip has been happily living and enjoying being a part of a great family cluster here in the Valley of the Sun since. Getting to work with Dolly on “Faith” remains one of the greatest honors of my career, but what I’ll carry forever is how she made us feel. I’ll never forget the first thing she ever said to me. She put her hand on my knee and said, “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this song, nobody has ever asked me to do something like this before.” It was insane because we were the ones grateful just to be in her presence, and there she was, thanking us. A legend that big, thanking me. That’s still crazy to me. And she was funny. Genuinely, REALLY funny. This clip is her putting her hand over my face after asking us how she did on the song (which she absolutely killed btw), because that’s who she was, a ball of joy who could have a whole room balling within seconds lol 😂 The kindest, most genuine soul. Humble to her core. Rest in peace, Dolly. We love you, and we’ll always be grateful. And thank you to Danny Nozell and the entire CTK team for embracing us and making us feel like family from day one. We’re forever appreciative.

Andy Schuon liked thisAndy Schuon liked thisToday is a sad day. Dolly Parton has passed away. She was an icon. An innovator. An incredible businesswoman. An A-list entertainer. But the reason so many people loved Dolly went far beyond the music and the fame: She was just a damn good human being. If you work in media—ANY format—this is one of those moments that needs to be acknowledged. When my wife is in tears over the news, my 26- and 25-year-old kids are texting about it, and social media is exploding with tributes, memories, and stories about what Dolly meant to people, you realize something: This isn't a format thing. It isn't a demographic thing. It's a life thing. Dolly Parton transcended country music. She became part of our culture. Look at the amount of love pouring out from every corner of the world today. If you're in media and can't recognize what that means to your audience, climb out from under the rock and join planet Earth. I never had the pleasure of meeting Dolly. But I know many people who did—and NOT ONE ever had anything but the highest praise for the person she was. That's an incredible legacy in itself. RIP, Dolly. You made a difference. It’s who wrote the checks. ✅ Electronic Arts (EA) ✅ Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group ✅ AMD Ventures, Pacific Alliance Ventures ✅ Coatue Management, Greycroft, Kadmos Capital ✅ Sean Parker and Eric Schmidt The four biggest rivals in entertainment, companies that compete for every dollar of consumer attention just sat down at the same cap table. Why? Because they all need the same thing: AI tools built for creatives, not against them. And they’re betting on Prem Akkaraju to build them. If you don’t know Prem’s story, it’s worth your attention: In early 2024, Stability AI looked dead. Founder gone. Debt piling up. Lawsuits. The media wrote the obituary. And Prem’s positioning is brilliant: "We are creative people making tools for creatives." In an industry terrified of AI, he’s positioning Stability as the trusted alternative. Through her unmistakable voice, unforgettable songs, generosity and larger-than-life spirit, she touched generations and made the world a little brighter. A member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry, Dolly was a 14-time ACM Award recipient and three-time host of the ACM Awards. She gave us some of country music’s most enduring songs and moments, and at this year’s ACM Honors, she was honored with the ACM Poet’s Award — a beautiful recognition of the songwriter whose words became a part of so many lives. "Two of the absolute highlights of my career at the Academy were collaborating with Dolly as she hosted the ACM Awards in 2022 and 2023, and having the profound privilege of honoring her with the ACM Poet’s Award just last week at the ACM Honors," said Damon Whiteside, CEO Emeritus of The Academy of Country Music. "On behalf of myself, our staff, and the Board of Directors, we are entirely devastated by this unfathomable loss to Country Music and the entire world. Quite simply, there will never be another Dolly Parton. She carried Nashville with her everywhere she went, introducing generations of people around the world to our music and our spirit. There are very few people who have done more to shape how the world sees this city. But what I admired most about Dolly went far beyond her extraordinary career. As a woman and a leader, she showed us that strength and kindness could coexist. She was incredibly smart, knew exactly who she was, and never felt the need to become someone else to succeed. She built an extraordinary career and business while using her influence to lift others along the way. Last year, we had the privilege of presenting Dolly with the E.W. “Bud” Wendell Award at our annual hospitality industry luncheon and recognizing, in some small way, all that she gave to Nashville and our hospitality community. Standing beside her that day is a memory I will always treasure. Nashville has lost one of its greatest ambassadors, and so many of us have lost an extraordinary role model. I feel incredibly fortunate to have known her and witnessed the impact she made firsthand. There will never be another Dolly. Music City loves you. ❤️
