I can’t imagine anyone missed that Daddy Pig completed the TCS London Marathon on Sunday, raising money for the National Deaf Children’s Society. Being at the core of this campaign from the very beginning, alongside Alessia Nausicaa Valli and Donna Crook has been the highlight of my career. Meaning that watching Daddy Pig cross the finish line was so special, it’s difficult to put into words. What started as a wacky idea, that Daddy Pig could run the London Marathon in real life, just as he did in content, blossomed into something incredible. By combining brand storytelling, brilliant partners, multiple PR and social moments with philanthropy, it became a true franchise moment that quite literally everyone is talking about. We announced in March that Daddy Pig would run the marathon, followed by his debut as a Runner’s World cover star, complete with a 4-page interview. Then came the reveal of Joe Wicks as his celebrity trainer and marathon running buddy, brought to life through a Rocky-style training montage. Next, the duo opened the TCS London Marathon Running Show and appeared together at the mini-marathon, warming up kids ahead of their races - all before the big day on Sunday. Since that first announcement, and across every carefully crafted moment, we’ve seen thousands of earned media articles and levels of social virality beyond what we thought possible. Most importantly, it’s driven conversation, showcased cultural relevance, and remained purpose-led, ultimately making a real impact. Sitting on the tube on my way to the marathon, overhearing strangers debating whether Harry Styles was Daddy Pig, was a true career-defining moment. Our objective was always to drive brand relevance, and how could we get more relevant than that? All of this has culminated in over £56,000 raised for our charity partner, National Deaf Children's Society helping deaf children and their families across the UK, which was the heart of this campaign from the very beginning. Being part of Team Peppa is so special, an incredibly talented group of people brought this to life. I’m in Seattle, they’re in Toronto, and somehow we both had crisp sunny spring days yesterday. (Today, sadly, it's back to clouds and grey) About 5 minutes before our meeting, an email came through asking if we could skip video so they could get outside for a walk and take advantage of it. And I was like… wait, I can do that too. One thing I’ve been trying to stay consistent with lately is getting to 10,000 steps a day. And on days packed with meetings and to-do’s, it’s just tricky. I’ll look up at 7pm, we’re winding things down, and I’m still 4,000 steps short—and it just feels… kind of crappy. During COVID, I used to do walking meetings all the time. But as RTO and commuting shifted, that habit slowly disappeared for me. I stopped even thinking to ask. In all, I got in 5,000 steps, 40 minutes outside, and a really good conversation—all at the same time, in crisp spring air. Grateful they asked. And also a nudge to myself to bring this one back.
