Jim Ward reacted on thisJim Ward reacted on thisToday I'm thrilled to announce Brief - Executive Intelligence, with Larry Augustin and Clint Oram. Early in my career I worked on messaging systems that had to maintain state across millions of concurrent users. The hardest problems were never about the individual messages themselves. They were usually connectivity between messages: the relationships, history, and context that accumulated over time. I carried that lesson through every role since. And at every stage, the same gap stared back at me. We’ve built systems that store huge quantities of artifacts beautifully: emails, documents, meetings, messages, tasks. Up until now, we’ve been unable to build a system that maintains understanding. The gap between what systems record and what people need to know has been the most persistent unsolved problem in enterprise software. For most of my career, I could see the problem. The architecture to address it wasn’t yet ready. Now it is. The architecture is here. Brief is built on a World Model of Work. It's a continuously maintained model of the executive's decisions, commitments, and relationships, running on a persistent knowledge graph that spans email, calendar, documents, chat, and CRM. Language models query the graph; they don't have to remember everything themselves. Brief is always on. Your context compounds across meetings, threads, and decisions instead of resetting every time you open a new chat. The value scales. Your effort does not. The engineering problems are real: resolving entities across messy enterprise data, reasoning about relationships that change over time, and surfacing the right thing without adding noise. These are the problems worth solving. This is the problem I've wanted to work on for most of my career. I'm grateful to finally be working on it, and grateful for the people building it with me.

Yes, the image below is a real Fortune that I opened on March 27 while eating dinner with my family.... When I reflect on my time at Armanino, what stands out isn’t just the growth or the milestones (though there have been many). What I take with me are memories and friendships with my former teammates and the clients we had the privilege to serve (too many people to name but you know who you are). The small, everyday interactions, the problem-solving, building, learning, and pushing forward together. Those are the things I’ll carry with me. I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and pride for what we built together....new offerings, new teams, new offices, new partnerships, and most importantly, meaningful client relationships where we were able to create real value and lasting impact. Helping clients navigate complexity, unlock growth, and move their businesses forward, together, is what made the work so rewarding. This experience has shaped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined... not just as a professional, but as a leader and as a person. The lessons, friendships, and relationships both internal and with clients will stay with me for life. As for what’s next, I am energized by the possibilities ahead. I have always been excited by the next challenge ahead, and I am ready for it. Hive CPQ is introducing a new term: "CPQ vibing" CPQ vibing, derived from the term 'code vibing', is a term for AI-assisted CPQ development where a CPQ model builder provides high-level, natural language instructions to an AI, and the AI generates the CPQ model. The model builder then interacts with the AI to refine and iterate on the code, often focusing on the overall goal rather than writing or debugging each line/rule/constraint themselves. Coined by Hive CPQ in early 2025, the practice represents a shift from traditional, line-by-line modelling to a more conversational and high-level workflow with an AI "model building buddy".
