Bruce Sohn reposted thisBruce Sohn reposted thisSilicon set the baseline for how the solar industry thinks about testing. But perovskites are not silicon and applying legacy protocols to new materials isn't sufficient. That’s because perovskite performance is shaped by multiple, interacting stressors including light, heat, UV and bias condition. Testing perovskite in overly simplified conditions can produce results that look promising but don’t translate to real-world conditions. At Cubic we think differently. These proprietary chambers are an investment in product-relevant accelerated stress testing, designed to replicate the conditions modules will actually face in the field. It’s harder work, but it’s led to real breakthroughs that will get us to less than 0.5% per year, necessary to match commercial bankability standards. #solar #tandem #perovskite

All those devices and the building systems themselves face thermodynamic constraints. Heat slows performance and reduces durability. The performance of any real system is dictated by its constraints. Bruce Sohn reposted thisBruce Sohn reposted thisIn today’s AI clusters, the network fabric is just as critical as the GPUs. Without high‑performance networking—1.6T/800G optics and the like, photonic innovation, and sub‑microsecond latency—you risk your GPUs sitting idle. The fastest model isn’t just trained on the fastest chips, it’s trained on the fastest network. Put differently, if your network lags, so too will your performance. Upgrading to low‑power 800G and 1.6T optical transceivers helps reduce overall data center energy consumption, while keeping latency ultra‑low for distributed training. Bruce Sohn liked thisBruce Sohn liked thisWhat if the biggest bottleneck in AI isn't compute... it's heat? As AI infrastructure scales, data center operators are under pressure to: ➡️ Maximize AI performance ➡️ Minimize energy consumption ➡️ Extend hardware life ➡️ Scale networking bandwidth to support ever-increasing data movement Historically, improving one often translated into compromises in another area. As AI clusters grow, thermal constraints aren't limited to GPUs and HBMs. High-speed networking infrastructure, including optical transceivers, switches, and emerging co-packaged optics (CPO) architectures, is becoming increasingly critical to overall system performance. When temperatures rise, network efficiency, reliability, and throughput can be impacted just as significantly as compute performance. Phononic's Thermal Fabric™ is taking a different approach. By transforming cooling into a dynamic, software-defined optimization layer, Thermal Fabric™ delivers precision cooling exactly where and when it's needed across the AI infrastructure stack. From GPU memory hotspots to high-performance networking components, intelligent thermal management helps maintain performance while reducing power. As AI infrastructure investments accelerate, thermal management is becoming more than a cooling strategy. It's a critical enabler of compute performance, network scalability, energy efficiency, and long-term data center economics. The question for data center architects, hyperscalers, and AI infrastructure leaders is no longer whether thermal management matters. The question is: How much performance, efficiency, and ROI are you leaving on the table without intelligent, real-time thermal control? Can perovskite tandem modules truly unlock a $100 billion solar market, or will the unresolved durability bottleneck keep them grounded? Silicon solar technology is rapidly approaching its theoretical efficiency limits, with peak performance capping at a 27% cell efficiency that translates to roughly a 25% module efficiency. To break past this ceiling, the PV industry is pinning its roadmap on perovskite-silicon tandem configurations, which hold the physical potential to achieve 30% module efficiencies. However, transitioning from laboratory promise to a commercially viable utility-scale product requires overcoming a massive hurdle: ensuring a 25-year operational lifetime. The core strategic challenge is that developers cannot afford to wait a quarter of a century to verify whether their modules can survive real-world field conditions. Addressing this demands highly sophisticated accelerated stress testing methodologies that can accurately simulate decades of environmental wear in a fraction of the time. By modeling these degradation mechanisms, researchers can rapidly iterate on chemical compositions and barrier packaging to eliminate failure points before deployment. This clip underscores the intersection of materials science and commercial scaling, outlining how CubicPV is systematically tackling the durability gap. Solving this bottleneck is not just an academic pursuit; it is the ultimate gatekeeper to transforming tandem solar architectures into a highly profitable, bankable asset class. In this short video, you can learn: * Why traditional silicon photovoltaic technology is reaching its hard thermodynamic efficiency limits. * The massive commercial valuation and target efficiencies of perovskite-silicon tandem modules. * How predictive accelerated testing protocols are used to bypass the 25-year real-time durability validation barrier. 📋 **Clip Abstract** Adam Lorenz highlights how perovskite-silicon tandems represent a massive market opportunity once their long-term durability is validated. He outlines the necessity of predictive accelerated stress testing to rapidly optimize cell chemistry and packaging for 25-year lifetimes. 🎤 Speaker: Adam Lorenz 🏢 Company: CubicPV Inc. 📅 Event: Perovskite Connect 2025 📍 Location: Estrel Congress Centre, Berlin (Co-located with TechBlick's Future of Electronics RESHAPED show) 🚀 Learn more about this and/or similiar technologies at our upcoming events: • Perovskite Connect 2026 • 📅 Conference and Exhibition: 21 and 22 OCT 2026 | Masterclass and Tours: 20 OCT 2026 • 📍 Berlin • 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gsycatcV #PerovskiteSiliconTandems #AcceleratedStressTesting #PerovskiteDurability #SiliconEfficiencyLimit #NextGenPV #UtilityScaleSolar

Daytime EV Charging: A Hidden Lever for Solar Growth At Provolt Energy, we believe the clean energy transition depends on connecting the dots; solar generation, mobility, and the grid must evolve together. A recent study funded by the California Energy Commission and published in The Electricity Journal highlights how aligning EV charging with solar generation can unlock major benefits. Daytime workplace charging reduces solar curtailment and strengthens project economics by matching demand with peak output. Deploying low-cost Level-1 chargers, delivering roughly 1 kW each, makes it possible to electrify entire parking lots at a fraction of the cost of faster systems, while avoiding expensive grid upgrades. Despite this potential, Level-1 chargers represent less than 1% of today’s public charging infrastructure in the U.S. The study also emphasizes the role of innovative electricity pricing. Forward-looking, time-of-use rates can encourage drivers and employers to shift demand to the hours when the sun is shining. California, Hawaii, and Western Australia are already leading the way with dynamic rate structures that better reflect “sun hours.” In addition, integrating solar canopies over parking lots can directly synchronize generation with charging demand, while helping mitigate grid-level impacts. The study underscores that sometimes the biggest innovations are about scale, not speed. Widespread deployment of simple, affordable charging can simultaneously accelerate EV adoption, preserve solar value on the grid, and reduce the need for costly transmission investments. #CleanEnergy #Solar #EVCharging #ProvoltEnergy #GridIntegration #SolarGrowth

The good and the bad of PSEG's new Gridsmart Battery Program The good: $5,000 rebate and $25,000 in interest free financing for residential battery installations The bad: it's a pilot to evaluate the benefits of residential energy storage and VPPs. It's bizarre and quite sad that in 2026 a utility, let alone a major one, needs a pilot to evaluate the benefits of residential energy storage and VPPs They have been studied to death and the benefits are thoroughly documented and well understood since they were obvious from the outset Time to get on board and get on with full scale adoption and integration with the grid #EnergyStorage #ResidentialEnergyStorage #EnergyTransition #VPP https://lnkd.in/eVw6CVCc
