Dan O'Neill, CDME reposted thisDan O'Neill, CDME reposted thisHockey’s Highest Honor the Hobey Baker Award was just announced for 2026, and while the ceremony may travel, the heart of this trophy will always have a home in Bloomington, Minnesota. For those who may not know, the "Heisman of Hockey" was born right here. The award was originally commissioned and established by the Decathlon Athletic Club in Bloomington in 1981. Why Bloomington Matters to the Hobey: The Decathlon Club was the award's home for its first few decades, cementing Bloomington as the epicenter of collegiate hockey excellence. Now as the City of Hospitality, we have many hockey teams that stay with us and skate on some of the fastest ice in the country! Hockey remains the gold standard in Bloomington. This year’s winner, Max Plante from University of Minnesota Duluth, continues the incredible legacy of Minnesota-based winners. With his win, UMD now holds the record for the most Hobey Baker winners in history (7)! Congratulations to Max Plante on joining the ranks of the greats from all of us at Bloomington Minnesota Travel and Tourism. 🏆 #HobeyBaker #CollegeHockey #BloomingtonMN #UMDBulldogs #NCAAHockey #MinnesotaHockey #HockeyHistory Photo Credit: Jim Rosvold

Dan O'Neill, CDME liked thisDan O'Neill, CDME liked thisBig things are happening in City of Bloomington, MN, and it’s being recognized nationally. 🏢 First, the City of Bloomington has been named a 2026 USA TODAY Co., Inc. Top Workplace. This recognition is based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey measuring culture, leadership, engagement, and organizational health. Bloomington was one of only 21 local government organizations recognized nationwide, highlighting just how rare this distinction is. 🏠 Second, Bloomington continues to stand out as a great place to call home. In Livability’s 2026 Top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S., Bloomington ranked #18. This annual, data-driven list evaluates small to mid-sized cities across the country based on factors like affordability, amenities, economic strength, and quality of life. ✈️ And finally, there’s more good news for residents and visitors alike! Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) was recently named the least stressful airport in America. The ranking, conducted by travel technology company Mozio, analyzed the 20 busiest U.S. airports based on delays, parking costs, and travel time to downtown. Taken together, these recognitions speak to something bigger: a community that works, a workplace that thrives, and a region that delivers a high quality of life. I'm proud of the team, the organization, and the community that make this possible.

Daly Travel® | Is Delta’s Service Overrated? A Growing Concern Among Frequent Flyers As someone who follows the airline industry closely, I’ve noticed a recurring theme in recent traveler feedback: many feel that Delta Air Lines’ service is no longer living up to its premium reputation. Long-time Delta flyers and elite members have reported a noticeable decline in service quality, especially since the pandemic. Common frustrations include: • Reduced in-flight service and less attentive cabin crew • Poor communication and handling during delays • Ground service and baggage issues causing inconvenience • A sense that customer care has taken a backseat to operational efficiency and profits While Delta once stood out for exceptional service, many now view it as comparable to other major carriers—but often at a higher price point. This shift raises important questions about customer expectations, airline priorities, and how legacy carriers can maintain loyalty in a competitive market. #DalyTravel #Airlines #CustomerExperience #DeltaAirLines #TravelIndustry #CustomerService

Why do you manage travel? It sounds basic, but it’s the question that reveals everything. That’s why I loved this takeaway from GoldSpring Consulting at GBTA | Global Business Travel Association Convention 2025: “Know, then validate, your strategic drivers.” Every company says they want savings, service or compliance. But when you dig deeper, the real priorities look different depending on who you ask: ➡️ Finance wants cost control and visibility ➡️ HR focuses on traveler well-being and policy compliance ➡️ Procurement looks for contract value and vendor leverage ➡️ Admins just want it to be easy and efficient ➡️ And travelers? They want support when things go wrong The real needs often don’t surface until you start asking the right questions. That’s where alignment begins, and where we can build something that works based on the needs of the customer. Challenging? Absolutely. But when it clicks, it’s one of the most rewarding parts of the work. Kudos to the GoldSpring team for sparking the conversation. #BusinessTravel #TMC #TravelStrategy #CorporateTravel #ClientSuccess #GoldSpringConsulting

For the 4th year, Global Week includes 12 curated press trips for international journalists, These trips are a vital part of our collective global marketing strategy because they allow journalists to experience a destination firsthand and translate that experience into stories that inspire, inform, and influence travelers. At their best, press trips are not simply about showcasing hotels, restaurants, or transportation options; they are about immersing the journalist in the essence of a place so they can write with authenticity, nuance, and credibility. https://lnkd.in/eU45rf3B

Three community engagement leaders (Bryan Kubel of Visit Milwaukee, Heather Andrews of The Palm Beaches and Adam Jennings, CTA, PDM of VisitGreenvilleSC) share why social impact is critical in their destinations, demonstrating how it is put into practice in inspiring ways. Five essential shots every multi-day tour operator needs: 1️⃣ Wide destination shots that showcase the beauty of your locations 2️⃣ Close-ups of activities showing guests actively participating 3️⃣ Candid guest interactions that capture authentic moments 4️⃣ Food and accommodation photos that address quality concerns 5️⃣ Team portraits that put a face to your brand Realistically, you need this diversity for effective marketing across all your channels. Each type of shot serves a different purpose in helping potential guests understand and connect with your experience. If you have a recent smartphone and some photography skills, you can capture many of these yourself. The key is being prepared with a shot list and understanding what story each photo needs to tell. Remember, some of the most effective content comes from authentic moments rather than overly polished professional shots. #photographytips #touroperator #contentstrategy #visualmarketing #shotlist

✈️ Government Shutdown Travel Impacts: What Travelers Should Know — and Why Partnership Matters With the current government shutdown, we’re already seeing ripple effects across the travel industry — including potential FAA slowdowns, flight delays, and cancellations. Air traffic operations and safety inspections are among the areas likely to feel strain as federal staffing is reduced, which can translate into longer wait times, disrupted schedules, and limited rebooking options. For anyone traveling in the coming days, a few proactive steps can make all the difference: ✅ Stay informed: Check flight status regularly through your airline’s app or website, and enable notifications for real-time updates. ✅ Arrive early: Give yourself extra time at the airport — at least 2.5 hours for domestic flights and 3.5 for international. ✅ Stick to major hubs: Larger airports typically offer more rebooking flexibility if disruptions occur. ✅ Monitor seat maps: If a flight is nearly full, consider switching to one with more availability to lower your risk of being bumped or rerouted. ✅ Be flexible: Conditions can shift quickly; patience and preparation go a long way. Right now, airports like ATL, ORD, DFW, JFK, LAX, and SEA are among those where travelers should pay especially close attention to updates. Why Working with a Corporate Travel Partner Matters More Than Ever During situations like this, having an experienced travel management team on your side is invaluable. Our systems monitor cancellations, airline waivers, and rebooking options in real time, allowing us to act quickly on behalf of travelers — securing the best available alternatives, applying waivers to avoid extra costs, and ensuring travelers receive accurate, timely information. While no one can prevent a government shutdown or its cascading effects on travel, the right partner can make the difference between chaos and calm. If your organization doesn’t currently have a corporate travel partner, now is the time to start that conversation. When uncertainty hits, proactive support and industry expertise are the best tools you can have.
