I’m excited to launch Pulse Check: Parenting Young Athletes, a 5-week virtual series I’m hosting with my daughter, Maggie. Over the last 30 years, I’ve experienced sports as a player, coach, executive, and father of five. One thing has become clear: most parents are doing their best, but many are navigating youth sports without a playbook. Maggie is completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and together we’ll combine the worlds of sport and psychology to help parents better support their kids. We’ll talk about confidence, pressure, the car ride home, handling setbacks, and what it really means to play the long game. As I often tell the players I coach: “Games are pulse checks on development.” The goal isn’t to raise the next great athlete. The goal is to raise a great person. Dean Tracy reacted on thisDean Tracy reacted on thisI’m a fanatic about mentoring, and I was recently asked what makes a mentoring relationship work. A few guidelines I’ve learned over the years: - Go with minutes. Remember what you discussed last time. If you’re the mentee, be ready to share what you did with the advice you received. - Go with an agenda. It doesn’t need to be rigid, but come prepared with what’s on your mind, where you need help and what you want to work through. - Go with a learning attitude. Good mentoring can be jarring. You don’t want someone who will simply tell you what you want to hear. You want someone who will tell you what you need to hear. - Feedback is a gift. Treasure it, especially when you don’t particularly like it. And if you’re the mentee, make your mentor feel that investing in you is a great use of their time. The greatest reward for a mentor is seeing someone become a better leader, colleague, spouse, parent and person. Great mentoring requires preparation on both sides, but more importantly, it requires a willingness to be challenged.

I’m incredibly grateful for the people, leaders, customers, relationships, and friendships that shaped my time there. Throughout my career, there’s been a consistent thread. I’ve been most energized by getting inside a business, understanding where growth is getting stuck, and helping build the strategy, structure, people, and processes to move it forward. So I’ve decided to make that the work. I’ve launched Cornerstone Collective 28:16, where I’m working as a Fractional CRO alongside owner-led companies ready for their next stage of growth. The work is simple to describe, even if it isn’t always simple to do: 1. Identify what is limiting growth 2. Build the revenue system needed to scale 3. Work alongside the team to put it into practice. As AI changes what’s possible, I believe that foundation matters even more. AI is an amplifier. It accelerates strengths and magnifies weaknesses. The name Cornerstone Collective 28:16 is rooted in Isaiah 28:16. A reminder that Jesus is the cornerstone and sure foundation on which this company is built. I’m simply called to steward it well. My favorite part of the verse: “One who trusts will not fear.” That foundation shapes how I’m called to lead, serve, and grow alongside the people entrusted to me. Build the foundation. Then scale. I’m already blessed to be doing this work with incredible clients, and I’m loving this new chapter at Cornerstone Collective!

Do you have 15 or more employees and are you doing business in California? If so, then you need to know about changes to the Equal Pay Act taking effect on January 1, 2026. 🔦 These updates include providing a “good faith estimate” for the position’s wage or salary range on any job posting instead of the previously required general range for the role. The new law also updates other key provisions including: ☑️ Changing language on wage discrimination prohibitions from “employees of the opposite sex” to “employees of another sex.” ☑️ Bonuses, stock options, per diems, and other non-salary payments are included in the definition of “wages.” Additionally, the expanded provisions clarify that a violation may occur each time: 1. an unlawful compensation decision or practice is adopted 2. an individual becomes subject to it; or 3. An individual is affected by its application, including every instance wages or benefits are paid. The Equal Pay Act update also extends the time in which an employee can bring a claim to three years from the date of the violation and allows recovery of up to six years of backpay.
