But 12% of CEOs are reporting both cost and revenue gains, signaling a snowball effect for bold movers. • What to do: Encourage daily usage. James Shira shared thisAs organizations navigate an era of unprecedented digital transformation, the latest findings from PwC’s 2026 Global Digital Trust Insights survey highlight how cyber resilience is becoming the cornerstone of business strategy in a shifting risk landscape. 🔸 AI is now the top cybersecurity investment priority, with 36% of organizations planning to increase spending in this area over the next year—outpacing cloud, network, and data protection. 🔸 Despite increased budgets, only 6% of organizations feel “very capable” of withstanding cyber-attacks across all vulnerabilities surveyed. The biggest gaps remain in legacy systems, supply chain, and connected devices. 🔸 The survey also reveals that cyber skills deficits are a major challenge, especially in applying AI for cyber defense. Half of respondents cited lack of knowledge and relevant skills as key barriers. 🔸 On the AI front, nearly half of security leaders are prioritizing AI threat hunting capabilities, and a third are focused on agentic AI. 🔸 More organizations are now quantifying cyber risk, with half measuring financial impact to a significant extent. 🔸 Building cyber resilience means upskilling teams and integrating cyber into business decisions. Nullify has built AI agents for product and application security teams to ingest enterprise context, validate exploit paths, prioritize findings, and, most importantly, drive remediation by supplementing your security team. The agent drives campaigns through existing workflows, coordinating security and development teams to remediate vulnerabilities more efficiently. CodeIntegrity is essentially control flow for agents. The company has built a runtime protection layer for AI agents, focused on detecting and reducing the risk of prompt injection and other exploit paths in production environments while enforcing policy over agent behavior, tool access, and preventing data flows from crossing unauthorized boundaries. Both Nullify and CodeIntegrity are deployed in production in customer environments and are scaling quickly. In Flagship Fund I, we completed a follow-on investment in Query. The company continues to build go-to-market momentum around its security data mesh and agentic AI platform for federated search and detections. This was found with AI. This voln below is very serious. thanks to the the team at Deutsche Telecom. These CVEs are a straight-line logic flaw — The same 732-byte Python script roots every Linux distribution shipped since 2017. before discovery this would have been one of the best living off land elements of criminal tradecraft post user identity compromise. The interesting parts about this include the use of AI to find it. Quote: "In an unusual twist, the researchers reported using the AI system Claude Opus to further analyze the behavior of PackageKit during their investigation. By leveraging AI-assisted exploration, they were able to identify broader exploitation scenarios and ultimately formalize the vulnerability as CVE-2026-4165 This marks a growing trend in cybersecurity, where artificial intelligence tools are increasingly used not only for defense but also for vulnerability discovery and analysis—accelerating both identification and potential risk." Hearing firsthand about WCK’s response efforts, including their work supporting communities impacted by the LA wildfires, was a powerful reminder of how critical it is to meet people where they are. It’s only been 15 months since the fires, and it’s clear that recovery is not a moment - it’s a sustained commitment. James Shira liked thisJames Shira liked thisI was truly honored to be selected to present the AI Controls Framework at the 3rd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in San Francisco. AIM-2026 brings together researchers, industry practitioners, and technology leaders focused on the latest developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and applied intelligent systems. In our work at AISquared and through my research at Claremont Graduate University with the Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT), we have found that the real barrier to moving AI from proof of concept to sustained production is not just the model. It is the control architecture that surrounds the model. A controls framework is a set of mechanisms an organization uses to direct, constrain, monitor, and correct behavior in a system so outcomes stay within intended boundaries. IT has solved such deployment issues before with similar models, such as the OSI Model and the Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture. Through more than 100 interviews, we have observed the best practices across some of the largest organizations deploying AI, which led to the development of the AI Controls Framework. The framework breaks enterprise AI deployment into seven essential layers: Layer 1: Systems of record Layer 2: Connectivity and access control Layer 3: Data activation Layer 4: Workflow orchestration Layer 5: Policy and governance Layer 6: Delivery and embedding Layer 7: Observability and continuous improvement URL: https://lnkd.in/dyj7yEee Here's the point: AI does not become enterprise-ready just because the model gets smarter. James Shira liked thisJames Shira liked thisWhen I first moved from being CIO at large organizations like the U.S. Federal Government or Microsoft to joining Intrusion Inc (a 50-person publicly traded company), I thought the biggest opportunity would be to move fast and innovate quickly, but it turned out to be anything but that. In large institutions, there’s a department for everything. Compliance, security, HR, procurement, you name it. There’s a process, a team, and a level of redundancy that protects against mistakes. You can get used to that rhythm. At a startup, there’s none of that. If something needs to be done, either someone already on the team has to figure it out, or we hire a third party. Every hour and every skill has to be used carefully. You can’t afford to spread talent too thin. I’ve learned that when everyone is doing everything, nothing gets done. What’s interesting is that the governance burden doesn’t shrink proportionally to company size. In many ways, it gets heavier. Small companies are still expected, by customers, regulators, and sometimes even their own boards, to meet the same standards as the giants. But they have to do it without the same safety net of resources. The disciplines I learned at enterprises like VMware and Microsoft helped provide perspective on the value of certain activities, but the humbling effect for me comes from working in a small environment where you have to decide, every hour, every day, what not to do. Turns out that deciding what not to do is the biggest enabler of speed and agility.

One message resonated strongly: no TAC can succeed alone. The challenges our members face today—from talent to technology, from regulation to geopolitics—cut across industries and sectors. Collaboration across TACs doesn’t dilute value; it amplifies it. By banding together, we can anticipate issues earlier, build shared solutions, and deliver far greater impact to the businesses we serve. Technology is the other critical enabler. From digital platforms to AI, TACs have an opportunity to scale knowledge, streamline engagement, and serve members far more effectively—starting with themselves. A Global Information Security Organization was reorganized and established as a centralized group responsible for the delivery of all information security capabilities. Several 'security hubs' have been created across Zurich locations to support this strategy. Zurich's leadership recognizes the importance of data security and has continued to make the appropriate investments in solutions as well as in this team by encouraging the achievement of security certifications by Zurich staff members. Currently Zurich's Information Security team has more than 600 industry recognized security certifications.
