Jason Beck reposted thisJason Beck reposted thisSustainability is not a single project. It is an ongoing commitment to building resilience. Over the past several years, I have worked to steadily expand the renewable-energy infrastructure at Major Market Inc., our family-owned grocery store serving the Pueblo of Zuni. What began as an effort to reduce energy costs and our environmental footprint has grown into something much more important: building energy resilience around critical community infrastructure. Today, Major Market has approximately 115 kW of installed solar capacity, developed through multiple phases. Together with the 5.6 kW Hawikku Solar Community Hub, we have helped establish more than 120 kW of locally generated clean energy serving community-focused facilities at Zuni Pueblo. For a grocery store in a rural Tribal community, energy resilience has very practical consequences. It means keeping refrigeration operating so food remains safe. It means maintaining access to fresh food and essential supplies. It means supporting our reverse-osmosis system so safe drinking water remains available. And during emergencies and extreme weather events, it means strengthening infrastructure our community can depend upon. I have been fortunate to help lead this effort from concept through implementation, working on system design, project development, funding, grant opportunities, procurement, and the integration of renewable energy into the broader operations of Major Market. And the work continues. Our long-term vision is not simply to install more solar panels. It is to create an increasingly resilient community asset where distributed energy, backup power, food security, safe drinking water, transportation electrification, and community services work together. That is what sustainability means to me. Not sustainability as a slogan. Sustainability as infrastructure. Sustainability as resilience. Sustainability as community self-determination. Projects like Major Market show that even relatively small distributed-energy investments can have an outsized impact when connected to the essential services people rely on every day. For Tribal and rural communities, the energy transition should ultimately be about more than generating clean electricity. It should be about building stronger, more resilient communities. Jason Beck shared thisThrilled for this one. 🙌 Scope 3 is where a lot of companies are stuck right now — the ambition is there, but the path forward for suppliers of every size is anything but simple. Looking forward to sharing what we've learned building programs that actually work at scale, and even more excited to be sharing the stage with this group. Thank you to Center for Resource Solutions for having me, and to Kerri Metz for pulling this panel together. See you in DC! #RenewableEnergyMarkets #REM2026 #Scope3 #CleanEnergy #ZettawattsJason Beck shared this🎉 Big news from the Zettawatts team — we're heading to Washington, D.C.! Jason Beck reposted thisJason Beck reposted this🎙️ Cohort Spotlight: Jason Beck takes the stage at REM 2026! We're proud to spotlight EnGen and ELI Board alum Jason Beck, Founding Member at Zettawatts, who joins a distinguished panel at Renewable Energy Markets™ (REM) 2026 in Washington, D.C. 📅 Session: Scope 3 Renewable Energy: Tackling Renewable Energy Across the Value Chain 🗓️ When: Wednesday, September 2, 4:00–5:00 PM ET 📍 Where: Renewable Energy Markets™ 2026 As companies push beyond Scope 2, renewable energy is emerging as a powerful but complex lever for Scope 3 — from influencing supplier energy use to tackling use-phase emissions in sold products. Jason joins moderator Kerri Metz (CEBA) alongside Jenny Carney (WSP), Rachael Terrada (Center for Resource Solutions), and Kevin Rabinovitch (Mars) to unpack how leading companies are navigating supplier engagement, downstream interventions, data attribution, and the shifting guidance from GHG Protocol, SBTi, and other frameworks. Jason brings a builder's perspective to this conversation. At Zettawatts, he helped launch the Additionality REC (AREC) Market and the Supplier CFE Program — giving suppliers of every size, not just Fortune 500 buyers, a scalable, budget-aligned path to directly finance new renewable projects and strengthen their Scope 2 and Scope 3 claims. Expect him to push the panel on a question central to his work: how do frameworks like SBTi's CNZS V2.0, which prioritize direct interventions over market instruments, actually work for companies with thousands of suppliers who don't have the leverage of a Mars or a Microsoft? Jason Beck reacted on thisJason Beck reacted on thisI’ve been reflecting on Summit Ridge Energy’s acquisition by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and BlackRock. To say I’m proud is an understatement. Not only did the team build one of the nation’s leading commercial solar and storage platforms, but they did it without ever raising a second equity round. In 2017, community solar was barely a market category. Most institutional investors hadn’t heard of it. The ones who had weren’t sure it was real. I’d known Steve Raeder and Brian Dunn from my time at the DOE Loan Program Office - they were building something serious, and they needed a capital partner who saw what they saw. We invested. Then we made a decision that most investors don’t. We stopped looking for the next equity round. The standard playbook for a high-growth energy company is predictable. Series A, Series B, strategic round, and dilution at every stage until the founders are minority holders in something they built. It’s treated as inevitable, and most founders accept it because they don’t know there’s another path. After your first equity round, your job should be to find every form of debt capital that doesn’t dilute you. Government programs. State programs. Tax equity. Convertible structures. Project finance at the asset level. Most founders don’t know these options exist, but we did - because we’d spent years on the other side of that table. That’s the work we did with Summit Ridge. Billions of dollars raised with zero additional equity rounds. Up until the recent acquisition, the management team and Aligned Climate Capital were the only equity holders. That’s what it looks like when you believe in what you’re building and refuse to let someone else take charge of your vision.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and affected communities. Based on USGS and satellite observations, the likely sequence was: Langtang Lirung ice/rock collapse → massive movement generated seismic waves around 08:37 Nepal time → USGS detected and classified it as an M5.2 landslide near 28.271°N, 85.515°E → debris entered the drainage system → a destructive surge reached the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli corridor within minutes → catastrophic downstream flooding USGS event page: https://lnkd.in/geMpD2gd Thanks to Reuters for the satellite imagery. Jason Beck liked thisJason Beck liked thisAI is becoming more capable. The value is already here. The more interesting question is what will be built around it. This month, we saw AI agents break out of controlled environments and gain access to real-world systems. AI security funding is on pace for a record year. And the race to secure the energy, chips, and infrastructure powering AI continues to accelerate. At the same time, AI is challenging some basic assumptions about how companies are built from the possibility of billion-dollar businesses run by tiny teams to entirely new approaches to computing using living neurons. The next wave of opportunity may not just be about building better AI. It may be about finding the companies that are best suited to thrive by embedding its capabilities. And it may be about finding the companies building the infrastructure, security, governance, and systems that allow it to operate in the real world. That’s what I’m watching this month. #VentureCapital #ArtificialIntelligence #Cybersecurity #Technology #Startups #Investing

Last week, our CEO Brian Hartmann moderated a powerhouse panel at SolarConnections, diving into one of the most pivotal questions facing our industry: Post–safe harbor, how viable is solar and storage compared to natural gas and/or nuclear—and what does the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) tell us about the future of power generation? The conversation explored: - The evolving competitive landscape for solar and storage vs. natural gas and/or nuclear - LCOE trends and what they signal for long-term economics - Reliability and risk in an increasingly dynamic grid - What power generation could look like by 2035 - Why the future of energy isn’t just about cost, it’s about risk mitigation, resilience, and a reliable, sustainable energy mix. Thank you GameChange Solar, #SolarConnections, and all of the panelists for this insightful and engaging panel! #SolarPower #SolarStorage

NRG’s generation fleet is anchored by a large base of natural gas assets across ERCOT and PJM, positioning the company to capture rising demand from data centers and oil and gas electrification. Its scale has grown through the addition of 12.9 GW of LS Power assets and 738 MW from Rockland Capital, as well as a joint venture with GEV and Kiewit targeting more than 5 GW of new gas capacity. Texas Energy Fund support for development at T.H. Wharton and Cedar Bayou further strengthens NRG’s portfolio in fast‑growing power markets.
