Jesus Mathus posted thisAfter 40 years in the technology industry, I’m excited to share that I’m retiring and beginning a new chapter. Looking back, I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunities, challenges, and experiences that shaped my career. I’m especially thankful to Superior Grocers for the support, and opportunities I’ve been given throughout the years I had the chance to contribute to their success story. But above all, I want to thank my team. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside talented, dedicated, and super hard-working people who made the journey truly rewarding. As a technology leader and CIO, one of my greatest sources of pride has been building and leading strong technology teams, developing people, and working together to turn ambitious ideas into meaningful results. More than any individual accomplishment, I will remember the people, the teamwork, and the relationships we built along the way. Now it’s time to turn the page and embrace what comes next—with plenty of gratitude for the past and excitement for the future. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey. It has been an honor and a privilege. Here’s to the next chapter!

One of the greatest blessings of working in corporate partnerships is seeing what can happen when businesses, nonprofits and the community come together for a shared purpose. Through our recent register campaign with Superior Grocers and Olive Crest - Strong Families, Safe Kids, customers helped support local children and families, with one shopper winning free groceries for a year. What touched me most was meeting our winner. She is a retired schoolteacher and a regular shopper at this store. When we asked what winning would mean to her, she immediately thought about others. She shared that when she is shopping and sees a family who may be struggling, she plans to share some of her blessing with them. A blessing becoming another blessing. This is why I love the work I do! Corporate partnerships can be so much more than fundraising. They bring businesses and communities together and create opportunities to make a real difference in people's lives. For me, this is "Living with Purpose." Using the relationships I build and the work I do to make an impact in the lives of others. Purpose, partnership and community impact. This is what fills my heart. Jesus Mathus liked this♥️Every Dream Begins with Someone Who Believes♥️ Long before I understood words like potential, opportunity, or legacy, I knew what it felt like to have someone believe in me. I was a little Mexican girl growing up in East San José, carrying dreams I could not yet name and imagining a future I could not yet see. But my parents saw something in me. They believed in me before the career, leadership roles, boardrooms, or anything impressive beside my name. Their belief helped me believe in myself. I grew up in a Mexican familia where love was not always expressed through big speeches. Sometimes it sounded like: “Échale ganas, mija.” “Sí se puede.” “No te rindas.” Sometimes love looked like my parents coming home tired and getting up the next morning to do it all over again. It looked like sacrifice—going without so their children could have more. They may not have used words like potential or legacy, but they lived them every day. Their belief carried me into classrooms where I questioned whether I was smart enough and into rooms where I was the only Latina. It carried me through moments when fear told me to make myself smaller. And somewhere inside me, I could still hear: “Sigue adelante, mija.” Keep going. That is why the Joel and Angela Robertson Legacy Foundation is so deeply personal to us. It is more than our names. It carries the sacrifices of our familias, the prayers spoken over us, and the people who saw something in us before we had anything to prove. Joel and I made a promise: if we could ever help a young person feel seen, supported, and believed in, we would🫶 We want every student we support to hear: Te vemos🦋 Creemos en ti🌺 Tus sueños importan🌸 Tú también perteneces aquí❤️ Because potential has always existed in our comunidades. Walmart’s CEO asked our PepsiCo CEO if I would be willing to come to Walmart headquarters and share my story with their leadership team. PepsiCo agreed, I agreed, and before long I found myself standing at Walmart headquarters in a room filled with some of the most powerful business leaders in America. Many of their senior leaders were sitting in the front row. I sat alongside their current CEO and leaders who would later become CEOs themselves. Years earlier, when marketing experts asked me how much market share I believed the opportunity was worth, I was clueless about how to answer the question in their language. I wasn’t trained in marketing. I didn’t know their formulas or terminology. But I remembered the size of the racks I had seen in the marketplace. So I opened my arms and said, “This much market share.” Most people laughed. It probably looked ridiculous. But there was a Realm Walker in that room. His name was Roger Enrico. Others may have seen a factory worker who didn’t know how to explain market share. Roger saw something beyond the words. He saw the realm I was trying to describe. That is what my book Realm Walker is about: seeing the realm others cannot see yet. Many times greatness does not arrive looking sophisticated. It doesn’t always come with the right vocabulary, education, title, spreadsheet, or presentation. Sometimes greatness enters the room looking ridiculous. Never dismiss an idea because of the way it enters the room. Greatness has a history of arriving in ridiculous ways. Jesus Mathus reacted on thisJesus Mathus reacted on thisFRIDAY GROCERY NOTES | California Chapter Superior Grocers Execution You Can Feel During my recent visit to Southern California, I had the opportunity to spend time with Richard Wardwell President & CEO of Superior Grocers, and to visit several of the company’s stores. What stood out was not one isolated department or a single promotional display. It was the consistency of the operating experience. Freshness was immediately visible, particularly across produce and the perimeter departments. Promotions were present throughout the customer journey, creating a genuine sense of value and giving shoppers continuous reasons to explore the store. But the strongest impression came from the people. I found highly motivated associates, attentive customer service, and store managers who were not leading from an office. They were fully engaged in the operation—walking the floor, supporting their teams, following the details, and remaining close to the customer. That matters because in grocery retail, strategy may begin at headquarters, but the customer only experiences what is actually executed inside the store.
