John Stankey shared thisEvery headline about AI should come with a reminder: technology doesn't build itself. What AI is revealing and something one of our technicians, Matt Johnson, captured perfectly, is that technology is only as powerful as the people behind it. He said, “You’re not going to get AI to do this. This is HI, human intelligence.” NBC News reports the U.S. needs an estimated 58,000 broadband construction and fiber technician workers by 2032. At AT&T, we've hired 10,000 over the past three years. And we need to hire 3,000 fiber techs just this year alone. These are skilled union careers that offer good wages, strong benefits, and the opportunity to build a future while making a meaningful contribution to the country's growth. The work our teams do in the field is critical to keeping communities connected and America's digital infrastructure competitive. The future will demand more connectivity, more computing power, and more skilled workers. The companies that endure and thrive will be the ones that invest in all three. At the time, these companies were rising forces in a world that was about to go through a series of technological revolutions. To put it in context, at the time of the IPO, no airplane had ever flown, New York didn’t have a subway, there were only about 10,000 cars in the entire U.S. Clearly a lot has changed. The three of us — Jamie Dimon, John Stankey, and Daniel Roth — met up at JPMorganChase in Manhattan to talk about what hasn’t: How leaders navigate massive shifts, why employees should challenge leadership, and what century-old companies might look like another 100 years from now. I had the chance to hear about the projects they've worked on this summer and what they're thinking about as they start their careers. I also spent time talking with many of them before and after the event, and I left energized by their curiosity and willingness to challenge conventional thinking. We talked about how advances in areas like AI are creating opportunities none of us could have imagined just a few years ago, and how our business is evolving to keep up. More than ever, success requires people who are adaptable, innovative, and eager to keep learning. Based on the conversations I had yesterday, I have a lot of confidence in what's ahead. Thank you for the energy, ideas, and fresh perspectives you've brought to AT&T this summer. Congratulations on all you've accomplished, and best wishes as you begin the next chapter of your careers.

John Stankey shared thisAs AI continues to reshape the economy, one thing remains the same: growth relies on people with the skills to build, maintain, and operate the infrastructure our country relies on. Without connectivity infrastructure, there is no AI. The U.S. has romanticized the 4-year degree, leading to our biggest workforce gap – skills, not degrees. AT&T has been working to address this labor challenge through investments in training programs, providing pathways for career growth, and paying our skilled workers a good, living wage with excellent benefits. At AT&T, we continue to build a more market-based culture that starts with understanding how customers want to use our products and services, what their pain points are and how we focus our efforts to meet those needs. At the same time, technologies like AI are changing how we work, creating new opportunities to win with customers and new ways to better serve them. The leadership challenge is finding the right balance: using technology to move faster and do better, while continuing to build the human connections across teams – often times shoulder-to-shoulder in the office – that are necessary to drive progress forward. These sessions are designed to facilitate questions and candid responses from John Stankey. While I have participated in numerous such sessions, today’s message resonated deeply with me. During the session, an employee inquired about John Stankey’s perspective on work-life balance, to which he referenced the “square” model. This novel interpretation of work-life balance prompted me to reflect on my own approach and ensure that neither my professional nor personal life receives undue neglect. Instead of striving for perpetual balance, I now prioritize ensuring that neither aspect is neglected. AT&T Women of AT&T - Dallas Chapter

It’s a square ▪️. Four corners that hold you balanced. This picture from my wedding is one of my balance moments (two-year anniversary yesterday 🙌). When my son looked up at me and said, “this is the most special day of my life”. That feeling - connection, presence, purpose, and commitment. The truth is… our personal lives shape our professional ones - and vice versa. The way we care for people shapes the way we lead our teams. The way we protect our well‑being shapes the way we show up in hard moments. And the way we stay grounded in who we are shapes everything 🫶 Leaders aren’t balanced because they juggle well.
