Mark Reuss reposted thisMark Reuss reposted thisThanks to the General Motors team, our suppliers and dealers for delivering a strong start to 2026. We beat expectations and raised our guidance for the year. We're in a dynamic environment, which isn't unusual in our industry. It underlines the importance of having the right products and the right team to deliver for our customers.

Mark Reuss shared thisGeneral Motors is investing a combined $830 million at Romulus Propulsion Systems, Toledo Propulsion Systems and Saginaw Metal Casting Operations. This is huge for our U.S. manufacturing footprint, our thousands of team members and the communities they call home. More here: https://lnkd.in/emUJx8cdMark Reuss shared thisYesterday, General Motors announced a combined $830 million investment in our U.S. manufacturing footprint at Romulus Propulsion Systems, Toledo Propulsion Systems and Saginaw Metal Casting Operations to support some of our most popular products, including our next generation of full-size trucks and SUVs. This announcement brings GM’s investment in domestic manufacturing to over $6B since the beginning of 2025. As part of the leadership team across these sites, I’m especially proud of what this means for our people. These investments are about more than equipment and capacity – they’re about thousands of team members in Romulus, Toledo and Saginaw, the families they support and the communities they call home. From expanding 10-speed transmission capacity in Romulus and Toledo to increasing head casting volume in Saginaw for our next-generation Gen 6 engines, this commitment strengthens job security, creates new opportunities to grow skills and reinforces our role as a driver of American manufacturing leadership. It's great to be in Toledo today and celebrate with our team. There’s no doubt that together, we’re building the future of U.S. manufacturing and creating a stronger foundation for the next generation of auto workers.

Mark Reuss shared thisThe Pope Francis Center in Detroit put on a great event for a great cause last week. I had the pleasure of recognizing my friend Roger Penske as he received the Honoree Award for his extraordinary leadership and a lifetime of tireless service and contributions to our community. The gala celebration raised more than $2 million to serve the Pope Francis Center’s mission of ending chronic homelessness in the city -- and it was a special reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together as partners to honor our heroes and serve our community.

Mark Reuss shared thisLast week I went to Indiana to visit GM's Fort Wayne Assembly, home of the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra light-duty pickups. In March, the plant celebrated building its 11 millionth vehicle, a black Silverado 1500 High Country that was bought by a GM employee. Now the team is gearing up and working hard in preparation for a critical launch later this year, and the energy and dedication on the floor are palpable. From a production standpoint, the Fort Wayne team is helping us achieve great advancements through continued adoption of automated systems. While this is smart from a business perspective, it's also helping us ensure our team members can do their work in the safest possible way. Thank you to everyone at FWA for the terrific hospitality!

Mark Reuss shared thisBack in December, I first saw Questionable Garage, a YouTube channel founded by Jared Pink, which is documenting the restoration of an EV1 owned by Billy Caruso. It’s VIN 212, which he acquired at auction. The GM EV1, launched in 1996, was a true pioneer in every sense. It was ahead of its time and it’s extra special to me because of its connection to my Dad, who was an early believer in EVs and a champion of the GM Impact, the 1990 EV concept that was a precursor to EV1. I enjoyed the Questionable Garage video so much that I invited Jared and Billy and their team to the GM Tech Center so we could help and we could give them some parts needed to move the project forward. No strings attached, no agenda, no legal reason or corporate red tape. It was great to meet them, and while they were here, they took some pretty cool tours of our facilities. Follow along as they work to get 212 back into running condition. I know I will! https://lnkd.in/g5DekaFm

Mark Reuss liked thisMark Reuss liked thisThere's no better stage for America's quickest production car than The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X — a true American hypercar with 1,250 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 1.68 seconds — will lead the field to the green flag at the 110th Indianapolis 500 on May 24. As the longest-running vehicle nameplate in the automotive industry, it’s no surprise that the Corvette has paced the Indy 500 more times than any other car, with 2026 marking the 37th time for Chevrolet and the 23rd for Corvette overall. That's a legacy you earn. This year also carries extra meaning. In honor of America's 250th anniversary, the ZR1X's bold stars and stripes livery is a statement about who we are: a brand with more than 70 years of Corvette innovation, craftsmanship and racing heritage, still raising the bar. Developed in America. Built on legacy. Ready for 233 mph. 🔗 Click here to learn more: https://lnkd.in/ea9qwq-C

From Hydrogen to Propulsion Batteries, the Detroit Region leads in advanced mobility innovation. Now the spotlight turns to E-Motors, a critical component of vehicle electrification across all mobility sectors. E-Motors use electricity from a battery to propel vehicles and are used at all levels of electrification, from hybrids to fully battery-electric vehicles. Some vehicles may use up to four motors, one for each wheel. The Detroit Region’s expertise in developing and producing a wide range of powertrain and electronic components positions it to meet growing E-Motor demand across automotive and other mobility sectors shifting to electrification. This makes the region a key hub for sustainable, high-performance mobility innovation. The Road to 2030 initiative uses these insights to guide business growth, attract investment, support entrepreneurship, and prepare the talent needed to maintain Detroit’s leadership as the global epicenter of mobility. 𝐔𝐌 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐐 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 The 2025 U-M Automotive IQ Student Survey examines University of Michigan students’ attitudes toward vehicle ownership, technology, and future mobility. Results show that while students are increasingly interested in electrification and new automotive technologies, practical factors like affordability, reliability, and convenience still drive most purchase decisions. Gas-powered vehicles remain the most likely near-term choice, but interest in hybrids is rising and electric vehicles attract attention despite concerns about cost and charging infrastructure. This graph shows differences among students whose hometowns are considered urban, suburban, and rural. It seems that the rural students have more pragmatic views on car ownership. They are also less likely to agree with purchasing EVs possibly because of the lack of charging stations in more rural areas. There were no large differences in standard deviation among the groups for the opinion questions, so the differences in error bars are mostly due to the differences in sample group sizes. Overall, the survey suggests that Gen Z consumers value innovative features and strong brands but remain pragmatic and price-sensitive when thinking about future vehicle purchases. Check out all the results at www.automotivefutures.org.

[NEWS] The Detroit Three are under fire over vehicle affordability: Sen. Ted Cruz wants Ford CEO Jim Farley, GM’s Mary Barra, and Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa to testify on Jan. 14 about why new cars now cost ~$50K. Ford has already said Farley won’t attend, citing a scheduling conflict. But the tension runs deeper than attendance. Because the hearing would publicly scrutinize pricing… All while OEMs are lobbying Washington on tariffs, trade rules, and labor costs. Big picture: How automakers show up (or don’t) could shape the tone of affordability debates in Washington, and the policy backdrop dealers will be operating under in 2026.
