Animal Welfare
I walk dogs! These are dogs in training to be guide dogs, to breed guide dog puppies, transitioning with a 'career change,' or otherwise in the program. I exercise and socialize dogs that won't be trained that day so they can get out of their fancy kennels and enjoy some nature and interaction. It benefits the dogs and it benefits me both physically and emotionally.

Patriot Guard Riders are a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their lives for America’s freedom and security, including Fallen Military Heroes, First Responders, and honorably discharged Veterans. We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is respect and appreciation for those who serve. Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives: 1.) Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities. 2.) Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protester or group of protesters.

As CEO of Mimecast, I'm focused on what I believe is the next frontier of cybersecurity: the human layer.

After 25 years in this industry, I've seen that cybersecurity starts and ends with people – the decisions they make, the tech that supports them, and the trust that connects them. Yes, humans make mistakes, get targeted, and sometimes act maliciously. But here's what I know: with the right visibility and support, your people can become your strongest asset, not your weakest link.

I've spent my career building security businesses – from co-founding and scaling IBM Security to $2.5B, to leading transformation at Devo and LogMeIn, to now driving Mimecast's evolution into human risk management. Every 39 seconds there's a breach. 91% involve human activity. Our job as leaders is to design systems that work with human nature, not against it.

Born in the Netherlands, I grew up and now live outside of Boston, MA. I hold an MBA from Wharton and a BA from Bowdoin College.
