The implications are staggering: ➡️ The barrier to entry for cyberattacks has collapsed. ➡️ Bug bounty programs are being overwhelmed and shutdown. ➡️ Frontier labs have permanently shifted the defender/attacker balance. P.S. When attackers > defenders, the only real strategy is cyber resilience.

Michael Atkinson liked thisMichael Atkinson liked thisYesterday morning at the Rubrik Summit, I joined Jen Easterly and Kavitha Mariappan for a conversation about AI and national security. It was direct, substantive, and uncomfortable in exactly the right ways. AI is the most consequential technology of our time. I believe that without reservation, and that belief is precisely why the next part of this matters. Jen made an observation that stayed with me. She drew a parallel to the 9/11 Commission's finding that the attacks were successful, above all, due to a "failure of imagination." Her point: the conditions for a catastrophic AI-driven breach are forming, and we don't want to imagine them too slowly. Not because AI isn't extraordinary, but because our security implementation hasn't kept pace with how boldly we're deploying it. The opportunity cost of getting that wrong is enormous. That framing crystallized something I believe deeply: to fully unlock AI's potential, our defensive imagination must match our offensive innovation. Three things I'm thinking about as we bridge that gap: 1️⃣ Confidence requires speed. AI-driven threats move in seconds. The organizations that will deploy AI most boldly are the ones with security architectures that respond in kind, giving leaders the confidence to innovate without hesitation. 2️⃣ Identity is the foundation, not the friction. In an agentic economy, securing human and machine identities isn't a constraint on AI deployment. It's what makes safe, scaled deployment possible in the first place. 3️⃣ Resilience is the new executive mandate. The right question isn't "how do we restrict AI?" It's "how do we build the architecture that lets us go further, faster, safely?" At Palo Alto Networks, this is the work we wake up for. We're not spectators to this moment. We're building the scaffolding that lets organizations meet it with confidence. Conversations like today's, at the intersection of public and private leadership, are how we make sure technology advances the world rather than outpaces it.

When discussing the details of coming over to Rubrik I shared my one non-negotiable: I have to be allowed the flexibility to coach my son’s baseball while I still have the opportunity. Sure, there are times when I have to miss an occasional practice for travel, have to work in the evening, or get stuff done early in the morning. But over the past 5 qtrs, I’ve been able to coach or assistant coach all four 4 of his teams (along with enjoying family vacations). To me, that is worth more than anything. Even with this flexibility, my sales team has been able to hit our aggressive numbers 4 Q’s in a row. Chase Parker Brian Scott Will Dixon Baxter Robertson Mitchell Szwec thank you for all your hard work and commitment to excellence. There are not many elite software companies still growing ~40%YOY that allow you to have balance. If you are at a company telling you that sacrificing your family for work is the only way to be successful, there are options. If you are an enterprise tech seller, with a strong track record of success or leader looking around for a new opportunity, hit me up. Michael Atkinson liked thisMichael Atkinson liked thisI am equal parts pumped and humbled to be joining Brian McCarthy and JP Bolen to build out the GTM engine at Cursor. It was an incredible first week in SFO getting onboarded, meeting the team, and hearing the mission directly from leaders like Michael T. and Jordan Topoleski. Week 2 has also had a few interesting moments already! Personally honoured to be working once again with the likes of Damien Brophy and William Kent, and newly with Britt Colcolough on the Transformation team in support of our commercial efforts across the world. Too many impressive new and familiar faces to tag in one note. The talent level being assembled here at Cursor is like nothing I've ever seen before (looking at you Amina Moinuddin Darwish!), and I've been fortunate to have been a part of some incredible journeys at places like AppDynamics, MongoDB, and most recently AcuityMD! It's truly remarkable (and, Yes we are hiring!). Finally, a personal thank you and congratulations to Michael Monovoukas, Alex Wakefield and the AcuityMD team on their recent funding raise yesterday! So much greatness yet to come for this amazing team!

At Rubrik, we have always believed that building a generational company requires the courage to be Counter Consensus. Years ago, when the world saw us as a data protection company, we made a lonely bet: that data security and identity would eventually converge into a single, mandatory category. We called it Cyber Resilience. Today, as AI-powered attacks render traditional "prevention and detection" models obsolete, cyber resilience is no longer a choice - it is a boardroom imperative. That is the power of a counter-consensus idea.
