Prathiba David Sullivan shared thisI was invited to D.C. for the Semafor World Economy Summit last week. Attendees included half of Congress and Business executives - a room full of people actively shaping what comes next: Ken Griffin (Citadel), Reid Hoffman (Greylock), Jack Clark (Anthropic), the U.S. Secretary of Energy, commerce and treasury secretaries, and CEOs from BCG, Hilton, Levi's, Southwest Airlines, Scale AI, Chevron, Deutsche bank, Metlife, and many more. Here's what I took back to my work: 🧩 AI deployment is now a business execution problem, not a strategy problem. Reid Hoffman's framing is if your team isn't measuring AI-driven output yet, you're already behind the companies in that room. 🧩 Companies that are moving past pilots: Southwest redesigned 50 years of open seating policy using AI simulation. Levi's is rewiring 170 years of wholesale operations to go direct-to-consumer. These aren't AI experiments - they're full GTM re-architecture. 🧩 The government is no longer a passive observer in AI. The AI strategy conversation happening in boardrooms is the same conversation happening in the White House now. 🧩 The macro risks are real, but executives and markets are not paying sufficient attention. LSEG's CEO called it "rational complacency". Ken Griffin's global recession warning if Hormuz stays closed more than six months. The IMF cutting its 2026 outlook. These are the external variables any enterprise GTM plan needs to price in right now. The agentic economy is the growth thesis. The grid, the geopolitics, and the pace of enterprise adoption are the only things that can slow it down. Big room. High stakes. A lot to bring back. #AIStrategy #GTM #CustomerSuccess #AgenticAI #Leadership #Semafor2026

Prathiba David Sullivan shared thisI was recently interviewed by an Indian news channel on the Kerala startup ecosystem at Davos 2026. This is not an AI post 🤯 , but another area I've been studying closely: how emerging market founders are quietly building some of the most resilient companies in the world. Where I am in Silicon Valley, many startups are built on cutting-edge technology looking for a market. In Africa or South East Asia, countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Indonesia, and India, the script is flipped. Emerging market founders start with an acute, unavoidable problem such as broken payment rails, unbanked populations, fragmented healthcare access etc. and then build the technology to solve it. They don't get to assume Stripe exists. They often have to become Stripe first. When Grab launched in Southeast Asia, it had to build driver financing, payment infrastructure, and last-mile logistics from scratch. That operational complexity becomes an enormous moat. And because capital is constrained, these founders reach profitability earlier and make every dollar of runway count in ways that would make most venture backed founders uncomfortable. 🎆 What's also remarkable is how intentionally these ecosystems are evolving. India's UPI is one of the greatest public technology achievements of the last decade — a government-built, interoperable payment rail that made fintech genuinely investable at scale. Nigeria's Startup Act (2022) gave startups formal legal standing for the first time. These aren't one-offs but deliberate ecosystem builds that are working. 💡 The lesson for global investors is simple: If you're only deploying capital where the infrastructure is already built, you're arriving after the moat is gone. Founders who've had to build infrastructure, navigate regulatory fragmentation, and reach profitability without a safety net of cheap capital develop a different kind of operational muscle. They're not just building products, they're building systems. The risk profile looks higher on paper, but the companies that survive early-stage emerging markets are often far more durable than their counterparts who scaled fast on borrowed time. 📺 Here is my interview at the 1 minute mark: https://lnkd.in/gceZ6dhF Correction in my title: I am a member of Firstboard IO, a women-on-boards collective, founded by Rita Scroggin. Not the founder - only the awesome Rita Scroggin can get together this amazing group of women 👏

Prathiba David Sullivan shared thisHeading to #Davos26 with Firstboard.io® — and proud to be part of a remarkable collective of women technology leaders who are redefining board governance in the age of AI transformation. As someone who specializes in AI for good, I’m especially energized by how this year’s theme — “A Spirit of Dialogue” — aligns with my work: deploying AI to redesign business practices within planetary boundaries. My recent article with Darcy MacClaren explores leveraging AI to design sustainable supply chains explores how we can harness predictive analytics, intelligent logistics, and transparent systems to reduce emissions and build resilient operations that serve both business performance and planetary health. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eNXJRrwN At Davos, these are urgent imperatives. As industries transform, governance must keep pace with innovation, and conversations around responsible AI, inclusive growth, and climate action are central to shaping what comes next. Prathiba David Sullivan shared thisSupply chain risks aren’t just about disruption anymore — they’re about cost, resilience, and carbon liability. With SB 253 and the EU’s CSRD coming into effect, supply chain organizations are being forced to answer a new question: Can we quantify the trade-offs between cost, emissions, and resilience ? That’s where Sustainability + Gen AI changes the game. In our latest article, Darcy MacClaren and I unpack how Gen AI, AI-powered scenario modeling, and digital twins are turning supply chains into a competitive advantage. What’s inside: ✦ How AI surfaces hidden trade-offs across supply chain risk, costs, and Scope 3 emissions ✦ How predictive analytics + machine learning strengthen supplier selection, multi-tier visibility, and network design ✦ Real-world proof from Walmart, Apple, and Unilever showing how they powered an operating model change 💬 What’s the “hidden cost” in your supply chain you most want AI to help you quantify? #SupplyChainRisks #SupplyChain #GenAI #AI #ScenarioModeling #DigitalTwins #PredictiveAnalytics #MachineLearning #SupplyChainTransformation #Scope3 #Sustainability #SB253 #CSRDSustainability by Design: How AI driven Collaboration is Rewriting the Rules of Supply ChainsSustainability by Design: How AI driven Collaboration is Rewriting the Rules of Supply ChainsPrathiba David Sullivan

Prathiba David Sullivan shared thisGoing back to campus at #Stanford GSB is always energizing. But last week was special. I was invited to serve as a judge at the Stanford GSB Executive Challenge — an experience that’s both intense and incredibly inspiring. MBA students are placed in realistic company-crisis scenarios and asked to demonstrate leadership under pressure: navigating people challenges, making tough calls, and charting a path forward in real time. The campus was abuzz at 7.30 am and students, who normally were in hoodies, were all in formal wear. They were excited and nervous at the same time. What struck me most was the thoughtfulness, creativity, and empathy these future leaders brought to each situation. There’s a unique energy on campus that reminds me why I love engaging with the next generation of problem-solvers and changemakers. I was also fortunate to serve alongside fellow judges who are true industry leaders and inventors in their fields. Their perspectives elevated the entire experience — making the discussions more intellectual, more cerebral, and deeply engaging. Honored for the invitation, the conversations, and the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful program.

Prathiba David Sullivan shared this✨ These are real pictures—not generated by AI 🙂 I hosted a brunch along with Maria Mejia, for women from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. It was a special group of builders, creators and investors. The timing was especially meaningful, as the GSB celebrated its centennial. Over the last wave of technology—social media, dating apps, and other tools that digitized relationships—we saw people becoming more isolated and disconnected. Now, with AI, the risk of reduced human connection only grows more real. That’s why building and nurturing community feels more important than ever. We all need spaces and people we can truly lean on. My hope is that we each make the effort to engage with our communities and create our own “blue zones.” Thank you to those who attended, and I look forward to the next gathering!

Prathiba David Sullivan shared thisThe ship has sailed - AI is here to stay - and yes, AI is going to drive incredible energy demands. Its time to stop wringing our hands and get excited about what we can do. We can use AI to be one of the most powerful tools for sustainability, if done well. In my own career leading tech, operations, and security teams, I’ve seen how technology, when applied intentionally, doesn’t just solve problems - it reshapes entire systems. That’s exactly what AI can do for sustainable use of resources : 👉 Optimize energy systems and lower consumption. 👉 Help product teams choose lower-carbon materials from day one. 👉 Redesign supply chains in real time to cut costs and emissions. And we’re already seeing it happen—Google's Deepmind reduced the energy required for cooling its data centers, Siemens cut waste in factories, Microsoft slashed trucking emissions—all with AI. For me, the opportunity is clear: instead of just being an energy drain, AI could become the optimization engine of energy and resources. In the comments, I add a few companies working at the intersection of AI and sustainable use of resources - please add to the list!

Prathiba David Sullivan liked thisPrathiba David Sullivan liked thisI was going to wait until my current trip to Ukraine for Ukraine Friends was over to post, but want to share today's experience. I visited two schools to deliver laptops to students and teachers impacted by the war. While at the first school they showed me damage to their building from a rocket and their basement bomb shelter where the kids can still do classes even during an alert. A picture of their shelter is below, along with a group picture from the visit. I don’t have pictures of the teachers and kids from the second school because right after I arrived we all got an alert (there’s an app we use - you can see the alert below on my phone home screen and the app itself) that something was inbound. So we did the presentation of laptops in that school’s bomb shelter while 400 students did classes in the shelter space around us. Everyone was totally chill. Kids were awesome. I was in awe of how well they handled it all. After the alert ended a friend sent me a short video of the inbound that had triggered the alert. I can't include a video and photos in the same post so can't show you the hit not too far away, but I was able to watch the video of the drone explosion from the shelter- because the shelter has its own wifi…

Prathiba David Sullivan liked thisPrathiba David Sullivan liked thisThe only job I could get out of college was as a waiter at Olive Garden. Every law school rejected me. The first four business schools rejected me. After my first year of business school, I didn't get a single on-campus interview. Then I figured it out. In year two, I got every job I interviewed for. McKinsey hired me. Four years later GE made me an executive offer in six weeks. Then Google asked me to be their first SVP of People Operations, where I spent a decade reviewing 30,000,000 resumes and personally interviewing thousands of people. Here's what I learned: hiring is rigged. Not against you — for whoever knows how to play it. Most candidates don't. The ones who do walk into rooms they had no business being in and walk out with offers. I'm spending the next three weeks publishing the entire playbook on LinkedIn. Free. 8 chapters, today and then every Tuesday and Thursday, plus the occasional bonus drop. Today: why hiring is rigged, and how to use that to your advantage. Tomorrow: the only resume formula that works (after personally reviewing 100,000+ resumes). 10 slides. Save it. Send it to someone job-hunting. What's the worst rejection you ever got — and what did it teach you? 👇

Last week’s CISO Sanctuary tour through Germany and Amsterdam was a masterclass in how the security leadership role is maturing globally. Whether in Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, or Amsterdam, it’s clear that the EU market is hitting the same inflection point we see in the US: the CISO role is becoming more technical, more strategic, and more central to the business than ever before. Prathiba David Sullivan reacted on thisPrathiba David Sullivan reacted on thisI avoid the news about bombardments in Dnipro, my hometown. Almost every time they happen around the streets connected to my family, my childhood. During 20 hours on Saturday Dnipro lived through several waves of airstrikes, leaving 47 people injured and six killed. From the panoramic images I saw it was happening there: near my school, near my family home. And didn't look further. Yesterday night on the video that I cound't help watching until the end, I recognised the fully destroyed set of apartment buildings located 30-50 meters away from my mom's office. I asked her not to tell me what has happaned to her building. I don't want to know. At least until the next time I come to my city. Regardless of how this type of avoidance is classified in psychology, there is no psyche that can comprehend the war. Even more so when it lasts for the 5th year, for 13th year... And you witness pieces of your life burning. #Ukraine

Prathiba David Sullivan liked thisPrathiba David Sullivan liked thisReading a recent outlook on oil & gas decarbonization from DNV, one thing stood out: The industry is getting very good at measuring, reporting, and verifying emissions. But that’s not the same as building systems that can be trusted. Most decarbonization efforts today still operate after the fact: - measure what happened - report it - verify it And then try to build trust on top. The report makes a strong case for scaling technologies like CCUS, hydrogen, electrification, and methane reduction to lower emissions intensity while maintaining production trends. All necessary. But it also highlights a deeper gap that isn’t being addressed directly. Trust is still external to the system. We rely on certification, audits, and institutional credibility to validate outcomes, rather than designing systems where: - rules are embedded - constraints are embedded directly into governed records - and data is inherently auditable If energy transition markets are going to scale, whether that’s low-carbon fuels, hydrogen, or differentiated gas, we need to move beyond verification as a service and start building infrastructure systems where trust is enforced by design.

One of the hardest truths for founders to hear: Not every startup should raise venture capital. VC is designed for a specific kind of business, one that can grow fast, scale aggressively, and deliver outsized returns. For some founders, venture capital accelerates momentum. For others, it creates pressure that the business model or market was never designed to carry. The real question isn’t “Can I raise?” It’s “Should I?” #AfricanFounders #PreSeed #Fundraising #AfricanTechStartups #MadicaGuidebook

What’s the most existential task early-stage B2B founders face? Selling. And yet - Most founders are first-timers. Most have never sold before. Most have never built or led a sales org. So they turn to the people they trust most for guidance - Their investors. But here’s the thing: Most VC professionals - whether partners, principals, associates, or platform teams - haven’t sold either. And that’s totally fair. VCs bring all kinds of strengths: product intuition, technical depth, strategic thinking, pattern recognition. But B2B sales is its own craft. More science than art. And without knowing the basics, it’s hard to identify what “good” looks like, or help founders navigate the messy reality of early sales. That’s why I’m opening a small cohort of the WINGS Sales Program, tailored specifically for VC professionals. It’s designed to give you a clearer lens into early-stage sales so you can support founders more effectively - and with more confidence. If that sounds relevant, feel free to check it out: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dRTEaacr And as always - happy to chat or give more context if helpful.

Plaid’s CEO Reflects on Risky Beginnings That Revolutionized Fintech Integration Zach Perret, CEO of $6.1 billion fintech giant Plaid, shares how the company’s early decision to pull financial data from 12,000 banks via screen scraping laid the groundwork for digital finance connectivity across apps like Venmo and Robinhood. Despite legal hurdles and resistance from banks, Plaid's commitment to improving access to financial data spurred long-term industry change. Today, the company primarily uses secure APIs, reflecting a more sustainable and collaborative ecosystem in financial technology. A recent funding round led by Franklin Templeton raised $575 million, cementing Plaid's role as a leading infrastructure provider in fintech. #FintechInnovation #PlaidSuccessStory #BankingTransformation https://lnkd.in/d3irhjGd

Funding: WisdomAI just raised $50M. The message behind it is bigger than the round. Not saying investors always get it right, but I see takeaways for data/AI leaders: 1. Analytics teams to extend from dashboarding to “decision readiness.” The BI/analytics category is moving toward real-time, context-aware decision support and increasingly, automation. Data leaders: Shift KPIs from “time-to-insight” to time-to-decision and evaluate tools on their ability to support agents with semantic modeling, workflows, and closed-loop learning. 2. BI isn’t going away-it's evolving. Dashboards aren't dying. BI/analytics insights are still selling, but insights give way to fast growth in decision loop solutions built on context that can be verified. Data leaders: As analytics move into governance, expect your BI/ Semantics / catalog ecosystems to converge. Plan your architecture accordingly. 3. Context is the make-or-break factor for AI. WisdomAI's Enterprise Context Layer is a key part of how they provide the queries to answer prompted questions. Data/AI leaders: invest in the semantic layer, unify metadata and policy-as-code to govern reasoning. This is where the next competitive gap will open. WisdomAI grew on the bet that context + trust will power the next generation of AI-driven action. The bigger story? We’re moving from AI that answers → to AI that actually understands and acts—safely. That’s why this raise matters. Big news for Nscale: We are delighted to welcome Lauren R Hurwitz as our new Chief Operating Officer. I’m excited about what Lauren will bring across the whole business as we scale. And on a personal note, I’ve known Lauren for a long time and we have often debated how best to architect for government needs, reconciling sovereignty/policy requirements with truly cutting-edge technology. That’s why, from my vantage point in Europe, I’m particularly energised by what her experience leading Palantir’s international public sector business can bring to Nscale. While public sector AI adoption across EMEA is accelerating, success depends on more than raw compute — it requires a trusted, compliant way to utilise AI services with strong governance and operational excellence. We’re also aligned on how agents embedded within operations can help advance localised compliance. By codifying and automating process & controls (access, approvals, drift checks, logging/evidence), they reduce ad-hoc human intervention and the risk of error or interference — while improving auditability and consistency at scale. Welcome, Lauren—can’t wait to build & solve together.

It’s easy to think of compliance as just something to “get through.” But sometimes, it’s exactly where the best product ideas hide. Take MFA. Strong authentication isn’t optional in most regulated markets. But here’s what happens when you lean into it: 💹 Push-based MFA works best through your native app. 💹 App installs give you a direct line to re-engage your users. 💹 Framing MFA as a trust feature (“We keep your account safe”) boosts opt-ins and reduces churn. Not every compliance requirement is just a cost of doing business — sometimes, it’s the unlock. This has come up for me more than once. Always good to swap ideas if you’ve been there too. #MFA #Compliance #Product #Growth

Astelia is out of stealth today, launching with $35M in combined Seed and Series A funding led by Team8 and Index Ventures with participation from Holly Ventures. Astelia was founded to solve a painful enterprise reality: security teams are drowning in noise. Current tools leave teams overwhelmed, forcing them to triage massive backlogs with limited proof of what is actually reachable or exploitable. What makes Astelia different is their "attacker’s-eye" worldview. Founders Alon Noy (Neuhaus), Nadav Ostrovsky, and Roy Rajwan come from the front lines of nation-state cyber operations. They understand that most vulnerabilities are irrelevant to how an actual attack unfolds. Astelia’s platform uses agentic AI to replace guesswork with precision, surfacing only the vulnerabilities that pose a genuine, provable threat to your specific production environment. With its unique approach, Astelia helps leading security teams to identify the 2% that represent true exposure. It’s time to move from a reactive scramble to a preemptive defense. Welcome to the family, Astelia! Read more: https://lnkd.in/eGCwgKem #SuccessbyDesign Aviad Harell, Liran Grinberg, Ori Barzilay, Ori Yankelev, Asaf Azulay Matthew J. I spoke w/ Cloudflare co-founder & CEO Matthew Prince for the latest ep of the Slow Hunch podcast. Since 2010, Matthew and his team have built Cloudflare into one of the most important companies on the internet: powering and protecting vast portions of global traffic. I’ve known Matthew since Union Square Ventures’ investment in Cloudflare’s Series C back in 2013, and it was really fun tracing his slow hunch, right from those early days. We covered: - how he met co-founders Michelle Zatlyn and Lee Holloway - the early experiments and risks that shaped Cloudflare - stories from the company’s pre-IPO days - the decision to make encryption free - how their infra ended up running 2 of the internet’s 13 root servers - his thoughts on AI (esp the transition from a search-driven internet to an answer-driven one) Hope you enjoy!

🚀 Big milestone for Attio: today announcing a $52M Series B led by GV (Google Ventures), with Michael McBride joining the Board. This follows incredible momentum in customers, revenue, and team growth. But what excites us most remains the same as the very first day I met Nicolas Sharp four years ago, and the reason we have continued to back Attio from Seed through to Series A to now: game-changing product philosophy, world-class technological leadership and delivery, and resulting customer delight. From day one, Nicolas Sharp and Alexander Christie set out to build a new kind of CRM: ✨ Lightning fast and a delight to use ✨ Built on a flexible, modern data model ✨ All designed to give users full control to build a CRM that works for their GTM motion and seamlessly plug into the rest of their stack That foundation has proven to be exactly the right one. A new generation of GTM builders is emerging with Attio as their central pillar - including companies like Lovable, Granola, Modal and more. And the data model is perfect for building native AI functionality and allowing agents to work with the CRM - some of this is live, some is coming soon 👀 Nick and Alex have assembled a stellar team and have impressively scaled the organisation. Congratulations to them all on this funding milestone. Thank you for having us along for the ride over the past few years, and here’s to an epic next chapter ahead.
