We are moving from AI that generates intelligence to AI that understands intent and can act on behalf of consumers. This is the promise of Personal Superintelligence. My colleague Justin Patel wrote a strong piece on what’s driving the shift. Personal Superintelligence is emerging because three layers are finally compounding: • Model – reasoning and multimodal capability • Context – AI embedded inside real workflows (Docs, Slack, meetings, files) • Memory – persistent understanding of users over time When these layers reinforce each other, AI moves closer to user wants and needs, in essence, intent. And intent is what enables real action. For founders, this reframes where durable startups can emerge: 1. Context is key Winning startups will control high-value workflow surfaces the model platforms do not own. 2. Memory becomes strategic infrastructure Who controls working memory, identity, and data portability will matter enormously. 3. Trust becomes a core layer As AI agents transact on our behalf, systems need verifiable authorization, auditable execution, and programmable permissions. This is where Web3 infrastructure becomes highly relevant. Public blockchains provide: - cryptographic proof, with or without human verification, in a world of deep fakes - programmable authorization, with or without trust, in a world where trust in institutions is eroding - escrow and settlement, potentially other DeFi services - portable trust, enabling new forms of applications with selective trust Exactly what agentic systems need once AI begins to act in the real economy.

Melissa Perri taught product management at Harvard Business School. She's consulted for Capital One, Vanguard, and Walmart. She wrote "Escaping the Build Trap" and built Product Institute to 15k+ students. And also...she's an angel investor. Here's why that makes sense: Product leaders already do half the work of angel investing without realizing it. Evaluate opportunities. Assess market size. Pressure-test solutions. Identify founder-market fit. Decide where to place bets with limited resources. Sound familiar? That's literally what angel investors do. The difference is the financial lens. Product people know how to spot great products, but most never learned how to evaluate companies through an investment framework. When you combine product instincts with investor fundamentals, you become dangerous (in the best way). You can spot the gap between what founders say and what the data shows. You understand unit economics. You know if founders are building for a real problem or just in love with their own idea. And product leaders can actually help the companies they invest in. You're not just writing a check. You're bringing years of expertise in building products and scaling teams. As Melissa told me: "Being in the seat of an angel investor has given me exposure to product strategy discussions from founders, and that's helped me in my day-to-day work too." It goes both ways.
