Rita Lombardo shared thisIs Art Direction in Luxury Fashion a lost art? Last week we witnessed two remarkable campaigns from the LVMH Louis Vuitton unveiled its new campaign for the Neverfull bag featuring Sophie Turner. Simultaneously, Moynat launched their monogram campaign with Abby Champion. What’s striking is the similarity in concepts, a lack of distinctive art direction and storytelling, compounded by over-commercialization. Is this a case of wrong timing and brand cannibalization? It raises an essential conversation on the balance between commercial success and maintaining unique brand identities through creative vision. How can luxury brands keep their campaigns fresh and engaging in a saturated market? #LuxuryMarketing #Branding #Marketing #ArtDirection #LuxuryFashion #Storytelling #CreativeIndustry

Rita Lombardo shared thisThrilled to share insights on the world of luxury brand collaborations with The New York Times! Successful partnerships are more than just aligning strong brands; they require careful strategy and a deep understanding of the target audience. #lombardo #luxurybrandingagencyRita Lombardo shared thisIs Your Luxury Brand Ready to Collaborate? We're thrilled to share that LOMBARDO and our Director of Strategy, Rita Lombardo, were featured in The New York Times discussing the intricacies of luxury brand collaborations and the most recent one between Franck Muller USA and S.T. Dupont. While the allure of partnering with another strong brand is undeniable, Rita emphasizes the importance of strategic alignment. "Just because you do a collaboration with two strong brand names, it's not going to guarantee success," she explains. We believe in the power of strategic partnerships to elevate luxury brands. Our expertise lies in identifying the perfect collaborations that resonate with your target audience and drive growth. Diving into the Olympic Brand Guidelines 2023, I was excited by the precision and thoughtfulness behind their design principles. Cheers to the detailed thoughtfulness of the design team. Here’s what makes them exceptional: Clarity and Impact: The guidelines ensure the Olympic logo remains bold and recognizable, no matter the backdrop. Effective Headline Usage: Standards are established to maximize the prominence and impact of headlines. Consistent Branding: These guidelines maintain a cohesive brand presence across all platforms, materials, and explains them precisely. Space for Complex Illustrations: Clear directions are provided to allow ample room for intricate illustrations and design breath of the brand. A fun fact: Years after I was in the bee, I helped start a mentorship collective called Periplus that has now mentored hundreds of writers of color — and we named it Periplus, which was my losing word in 1995! (I added an extra "-se" at the end.) 🥰 🐝Rita Lombardo liked thisVauhini Vara was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, to Indian immigrants, and grew up there and in the suburbs of Oklahoma City and Seattle. She discovered a love of words early on and in 1995, 12-year-old Vauhini spelled her way to an incredible 3rd place finish at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. 🐝 Her love of words was just starting to blossom. Vauhini has built an amazing career as a journalist for publications like The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times Magazine. As an author, her debut novel, The Immortal King Rao, was a Pulitzer Prize finalist, and her latest nonfiction book is an award-winning bestseller. 📖 Beyond her own writing, she empowers the next generation by mentoring incarcerated writers and aspiring authors to help them share their own stories. From the Bee stage to a lifetime of impact and inspiration. Thank you for everything, Vauhini!

Dolly Parton was a masterclass in radical authenticity, total visual consistency, and self-aware humor. Long before "personal branding" became an industry buzzword, she built a global empire by staying unmistakably, unapologetically herself for over 60 years. Speaking on BBC News today, our Global Chief Creative Officer Liz Taylor paid tribute to Dolly’s unmatched cultural legacy and the business genius of an icon who taught the world to "find out who you are and do it on purpose." Her legacy is a blueprint that creators, leaders, and brands will be learning from for generations to come.

Rita Lombardo reacted on thisRita Lombardo reacted on thisA Creative Team is only as STRONG as its ability to be HONEST Over the years, I've learned that one of the biggest challenges of creative leadership isn't managing projects, deadlines, or even different personalities, it's managing the EGO. Ego can quietly destroy the structure of a team, it can make people afraid to ask questions because they don't want to look inexperienced, it can make someone defend an idea simply because admitting a mistake feels like losing, it can create competition where there should be collaboration and eventually, people stop being honest. But I believe strong teams are built in the opposite direction: through honesty and humility. Honesty allows us to recognize what we know and what we don't know. Humility gives us the confidence to say it out loud. "I don't know how to do this, I need help, Someone else on this team is better at this than I am." — For me, those aren't signs of weakness. They're often the exact starting point for growth. Because once we can honestly identify a gap, we can do something about it, we can learn, we can train, we can ask for support, we can bring the right people into the conversation. That moment of honesty becomes the point where growth begins and when humility is present, knowledge stops being something we protect and becomes something we share. I've seen this make a real difference in creative teams. The strongest teams I've worked with weren't made up of people who knew everything, they were made up of people who trusted each other enough to admit when they didn't and that creates space for teaching, for learning, for constructive feedback, for collaboration and eventually, for better work. As creative leaders, I don't think our job is to have all the answers, our job is to help create an environment where people are not afraid to say when they don't have one, because a team becomes stronger not when everyone pretends to be an expert, but when everyone is secure enough to keep learning. Honesty reveals where we are. Humility allows us to grow. And together, they create teams that are stronger than any individual ego. #CreativeLeadership #Leadership #Teamwork #DesignLeadership #CreativeTeams #GrowthMindset

Rita Lombardo liked thisRita Lombardo liked thisEvery founder who looks lucky right now built that luck on purpose. The lucky part is just the bit you're allowed to see. Shout out to Josh S. for the thinking and sick visual here! I used to think luck was something that happened to you. Then I watched enough founders and operators up close to realize it's something you build. Look at the people pulling in the big partnerships and the right intros at the right time. None of that is a coincidence. It's luck they engineered without calling it that. There are 3 types of luck I see over and over: 🧠 The luck from spotting it first ↳ The partnership or the opportunity was sitting there the whole time. You just noticed it before everyone else scrolled past it. 🏎️ The luck of motion ↳ You took the call, sent the intro, showed up to the room nobody else could be bothered with. Luck found you mid-move. 💎 The luck of being impossible to replicate ↳ You built something so specific that the right partners had no choice but to come find you. Once you see luck this way, you can start building more of it on purpose. Here are 5 ways you can grow yours: 1️⃣ Focus on your personal development ↳ You can't out-hustle a body that's falling apart, so fix that part first. 2️⃣ Learn the skill your industry keeps needing ↳ Look at the problem that keeps showing up in every conversation, then go become the person who can solve it. 3️⃣ Get some distance from the overly cautious ↳ Spend time around people making bigger moves, and yours will start looking small fast. 4️⃣ Stay stubbornly curious ↳ Keep asking why. Honestly, it's the key to finding the question nobody else is asking. 5️⃣ Help people before they ever ask ↳ The tale as old as time: Give without keeping score. The people you help today are the ones emailing you in 3 years with the partnership you never saw coming. The bigger your surface area, the luckier you get. That's the whole game. How are you building yours right now? This is exactly the kind of thing we build a whole room around in San Diego this November. Founders who understand luck is built, not waited for. Apply here, and you just might meet the people who help change your luck: https://lnkd.in/gEaCdb9N ♻️ Repost this for the founder in your circle still waiting to get lucky. Follow me, Amber Spears, for more on how founders build their own luck.

Thanks to ADWEEK and Lauren Johnson for covering PODEAN's point of view on the ending of the de minimis loophole that has benefited many foreign manufacturers over the last few years. "The ending of de minimis means that China-based retailers will need to raise their prices to offset higher import prices. We’ll likely see Temu, Shein, and even TikTok Shop be less compelling for consumers in certain areas, given prices will have to increase as a result and [face a] possible disruption in availability.” "The end of de minimis is likely to cause delays and backlogs at ports that could impact all brands, regardless of whether they previously used de minimis."
