Ryan Hardin posted thisI am very excited to announce my retirement. I’ve been working for fifty years and it’s time for me to enjoy life without work, at least in the sense that we know it. I’m very grateful for my fifty years of work experience. The time has gone very fast as others have said before. I have learned many things, grown, met some fantastic co-workers and customers, many of which are now friends. Over the coming months I think I will reflect on a few things I’ve learned. For now, though I will simply say that I’m excited for the next chapter in my life. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along this journey allowing me to get to where I am today. Thank you to my family, my wife and my two boys for the love, support and help along the way as well as keeping me focused on our family as a first priority. Remember, don’t give up, keep learning, adapt, listen and have fun. All the best for now.

Ryan Hardin reposted thisRyan Hardin reposted thisPeople have asked me - “Why did you choose Formlabs and why SLA 3D printing for orthotics?” My answer is quite simple - the people at Formlabs are top notch (Rob Ortiz and the rest of their support team), their materials are becoming stronger and stronger every year, and their whole software-printer-material-post processing ecosystem just works. And works really well. Here’s a collection of the Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs) which I’ve been printing at Ascent Fabrication over the past year. I’ve done my due diligence on strength and yield testing and have been receiving some really great feedback from the clinicians delivering these. Producing perfectly smooth surface finish AFOs was something that clinicians asked of me years ago when I began printing these via FDM with polypropylene. They didn’t like the layering, the support removal was tedious and left too much of a mark, and the printing itself was highly unrealiable. Not anymore. Interested in printing AFOs like this?
