The Importance of Personal Work

The Importance of Personal Work

Personal projects are a necessity. They are  a great way to be creative, while taking your skills to the next level and sometimes to new and different places.

Other than giving you a chance to grow (creatively and talent-wise), they are an important way to let people see what you like, new ideas you are exploring, and that you can find new ways to make art and storytell.

It’s sometimes hard to do that with commissioned work, as clients hire you based on what you already do. Of course, you can play around on jobs/paying gigs  too, but you better nail the shot using familiar/tested methods.

These projects keep the creative juices flowing, keeping your talents practiced and  ready to go. It’s important to stay on top of techniques and styles in this fast paced world. Things evolve very quickly.

Personal Projects allow you to find new aspects of your photography that you might not have used before. Allowing for growth, both as a professional and an artist.

In a Social Media driven era, it is very important to create content. This type of work can lead to the development of both new work and abilities. Ultimately keeping you sharp and relevant.
