Reimagining Mitchell Canyon
Inspiring future generations to wander the mountain, explore Mount Diablo's biodiversity, wonder at its beauty, and ensure its protection.

Help us build the Education Center in Mitchell Canyon
Mitchell Canyon welcomes approximately 35,000 visitors each year and serves as one of the most popular gateways to Mount Diablo State Park. From here, visitors set out on hikes to the summit and waterfalls, explore spectacular spring wildflowers, join tarantula hikes and organized trail-running events, mountain bike, ride horseback, photograph the landscape, watch birds, and discover the mountain’s fascinating geology.
Despite its popularity, the existing facilities at Mitchell Canyon are limited and restrict our ability to fully serve the many people who come to experience and learn about Mount Diablo.
Thanks to major grant funding from the State of California, along with the extraordinary generosity of our donors and community partners, MDIA has raised $4.6 million toward construction of a new Education Center at Mitchell Canyon.
