Old-growth forests provide structurally complex, diverse, and unique habitats for animals, plants, and fungi and can contribute to climate change mitigation by removing and storing carbon from the atmosphere. Our research has mapped about 75,000 acres of old-growth forests.

Dark Skies for Fireflies is an on-going effort to identify firefly species in New York State Parks with the goal of providing park-specific stewardship guidance for potential at-risk species and to maximize firefly diversity.
