Volunteers are essential to the Oklahoma Historical Society’s mission to collect, preserve, and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. They offer support for our collections and archives, historical programs, events, site tours, genealogical research, and more.

Oklahoma History Center
Volunteers support the Oklahoma History Center Museum by serving as:
- Docents
- Gallery hosts
- Special event hosts
- Living history docents
- Museum Store assistance
- Behind-the-scenes positions
Volunteers play a crucial role in the Research Division by:
- Working with collections including books, manuscripts, photographs, audio, newspapers, maps, and video
- Assisting with digitization projects
- Helping patrons in the Research Center
- Answering research requests
- Indexing/transcribing genealogical or historical records
