Experience
Barbara Field is a writer, manager, instructor and keynote speaker. She worked on staff for CBS, Harcourt Brace, UC San Diego and Pace University. She worked with Microsoft, Scripps Health, Regional Perinatal Systems (collaborative of UCSD, Sharp and Children’s Hospitals), Jenny Craig and IDEA Health & Fitness. She also worked on accreditation projects for teacher education programs at two California universities.
Barbara published in PBS/Next Avenue, Shape, NY Daily News, AARP The Girlfriend, Next Tribe, The Independent, Newsday, Salon, Al Jazeera, Writer’s Digest, Columbia Review, Feministing.com, MyHero.com, and elsewhere. Her novel, The Deeper, The Bluer, won a Writer’s Digest fiction award.
She’s a former member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors. Barbara founded Writing Life Stories and currently teaches memoir writing to non-writers at museums, universities, and libraries. She also gives private classes and offers one-on-one coaching.
Education
Barbara earned her BA in English and Senior Essay with Honors from Barnard College of Columbia University. She also won the Lenore Marshall Prize and Van Rensselaer Prize for her writing.
