Tasting Louis Jadot’s Flagship Beaune Clos des Ursules at 200

The Burgundy house’s connection to the Beaune premier cru dates back to 1826; senior editor Bruce Sanderson tasted 15 vintages of the iconic Pinot Noir

Before there was Maison Louis Jadot, there was Clos des Ursules. The iconic Beaune premier cru vineyard and flagship of the Jadot house was acquired by Louis Henry Denis Jadot’s father-in-law in 1826. Jadot himself received it as a dowry when he married into the Moreau family in 1859. That same year, to increase his source of grapes, Jadot founded the négociant arm of the domaine. In 1985, Maison Louis Jadot was purchased by its United States importer, Kobrand Corporation.
