Appreciate everyone’s comments. Figured it was the obvious with the revenue and tickets from Mexico fans. I’ve also discovered SUM is the exclusive sales partner for the FMF…which is just fantastic. I remember watching the 2021 WCQ in Cincy, which was awesome and very pro-USA.

Genuine question as a newer fan: Why would U.S soccer choose Phoenix for USA–Mexico over somewhere that could draw more pro-USMNT fans? I assume it’s mainly the revenue and ticket sales from Mexico fans, but I’d expect the crowd to be like 80/20 Mexico on U.S. soil…not great.

HISTORY MADE: For the first time in documented history, Iowa State football and the USMNT will air on the same TV channel — TNT — on the same day. West Virginia–Iowa State kicks off at 12:00 p.m. ET, followed by USMNT–Mexico at 10:00 p.m. ET tomorrow.

For those curious, the last time the USMNT played Mexico in a friendly in the U.S. was April 19th, 2023, also in Glendale. That match averaged 437K viewers on TBS and 1.522M viewers on Telemundo/Universo, for a combined 1.959M viewers. We shall see how tomorrow’s affair does.
