After 17 years in LA, I finally got one up on the board. My first feature film 'Roses on the Vine' released on digital in North America May 22nd, and the reception has been positive - with an 8.7/10 on IMDb. Proud of the work, and looking forward to what's next. 🌹

Blake died in 2009 so he can't really defend himself. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I get the knock on STC, and Bob McKee's Story, and all the other screenwriting how-to manuals. It can feel like...

Plot is also easier. Compelling character—the hard part. Do both well and you're cooking. 🔥

Martin Scorsese on why plot comes second: “Plot is irrelevant to him. He wants to follow the soul of that certain character.” Using Vertigo (1958) as an example, Scorsese argues that what keeps us watching is “something else going on.”
