    While NASA’s Artemis III mission moves forward, work on Artemis IV and V is already underway! 🚀 At NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana, teams are making steady progress on the core stages for the SLS rockets. Here’s a look at some recent moves and tests:

    In early April 2026, the Artemis II crew became the first to travel beyond the Moon in more than 50 years and traveled farther in space than humans have ever before. For their achievements, each was awarded with the Congressional Space Medal of Honor today. Congratulations!

    Artemis III progress continues with installation of the RS-25 engines and ongoing integration of the twin solid rocket booster segments for SLS, continued hardware installation and testing on the recently powered-on Orion spacecraft, and the Artemis III crew’s intensive training.

    Look up tonight. The Moon will pass through Earth's shadow during a deep partial lunar eclipse visible from much of North and South America and parts of Europe and Africa. As the eclipse deepens, the Moon will appear tinged with shades of red and copper.
    A nearly total partial lunar eclipse fills the center of the frame against a dark sky. The Moon is bathed in shades of red, orange, and copper as Earth's shadow covers most of its surface, leaving only a thin, bright crescent illuminated along its left edge. Dark lunar maria and lighter highlands remain visible through the reddish glow.
