Beginning today I will be writing a weekly column for HT Premium which will look at a political economy puzzle facing contemporary India. We've named it Terms of Trade. The first one asks why fuel price protests aren't gaining popular traction
This kind of inequality, where the poor are witnessing a squeeze on incomes and the rich are not, should have added to the angst over inflation. But what explains the lack of it?
Terms of Trade | Why are the fuel hike protests confined to Parliament?

Have you ever heard of a #trafficjam resulting from #garbage? This is near ISI, Delhi (Katwaria Sarai). Things are getting worse by the day! What I can’t understand is why is it happening across the city! Not one dump not overflowing! @CPCB_OFFICIAL @MCDdelhi @PMOIndia

Post SIR draft roll has cut Delhi’s elector count by almost a third. Highest when you compare to states but not so high when you compare with large cities. @naalmot has been doing the SIR math

Today is GDP data day. Headline growth will be 7% plus, perhaps closer to 8%, analysts believe. Quarterly GDP numbers lead to annual, annual leads to long-term growth. That is what we hope, will give us Viksit Bharat. We ran a 3-part series rethinking Viksit Bharat (1/7)
