What if volume doesn’t come from construction alone – but from the fabric itself? The Akris Spring 2026 collection explores a dialogue with Leon Polk Smith, where structure emerges through material, not excess. It reflects the core principle behind everything Creative Director Albert Kriemler creates: precision, clarity, and intention. Inspired by Smith’s geometric compositions, volume becomes graphic –almost architectural – rather than purely sculptural. "The high planes inspiration is one of the panels, it is red and blue. I felt it was inspiring for me and also a type of volume creator. I think I never had a volume seam treatment which was graphic." From building volume, to revealing it. Akris Opens New Boutique in Hamburg After 22 years, the house is moving to a new address on Neuer Wall, where around 350 square meters across two floors will showcase the latest collections of Akris, Akris punto, and Akris Accessories. Designed in 1979/80 by architect Peter P. Schweger, the building is considered a striking example of postmodern architecture and is now a listed landmark. The store reflects the architectural essence of Akris: clean lines, precision, and a modernist, refined design language that has long defined the house. Creative Director Albert Kriemler shares: “Hamburg has long held a special place for me — not least through nearly two decades of collaboration with the Hamburg Ballet and John Neumeier. It makes this new home, in a building of architectural significance for the city, all the more meaningful.” Akris Boutique Hamburg Neuer Wall 48 20354 Hamburg https://lnkd.in/eJUqzGMS #Akris #Hamburg

For the Akris Spring 2026 collection, Creative Director Albert Kriemler was inspired by Seven Involvements in One, a monumental folding screen by mid-century minimalist painter Leon Polk Smith, whose vibrant, geometric works helped define the Hard-Edge style of the 1950s and 60s. For the Akris Spring 26 Runway Show each panel was meticulously crafted and painted in St. Gallen before being transported and assembled at Palais de Tokyo in an eight-hour installation, bringing Smith’s dynamic vision to life in the heart of Paris. Wedding season is approaching Rather than focusing on occasion wear alone, the conversation shifts to versatility: pieces that move effortlessly from ceremony to evening, from formal to personal expression. Flowing silhouettes, tailored separates, and refined accessories create a considered balance. Light silks, subtle textures, and understated prints offer ease without excess — allowing individuality to emerge naturally. Polygon workmanship The Akris Spring 2026 collection draws a connection to Leon Polk Smith. „In 2023, I visited his exhibition at Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, and there, commanding the room, was „Seven Involvements in One“. Vivid, precise, liberated – a free-standing object full of pulse and offbeat bravado.“ Creative Director Albert Kriemler The artwork consists of two components, the one with six distinct panels, independently titled Six Involvements in One; the other one with the stark red polygon is titled Correspondence Red White. It transports Smith's signature (corresponding two colors and line into one) in double-face workmanship.
