AutoWikiBrowser

Would like to use when I get my computer back, will use to do edits that if done manually would be tedious. Beta Beta Beta - talk 22:06, 6 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Beta Beta Beta, can you give us any more specific examples? In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 22:19, 16 July 2026 (UTC)reply
To provide one example, simple copy editing would be far easier with AWB than having to look through the page for the possibility of a slip-up. Beta Beta Beta - talk 22:39, 16 July 2026 (UTC)reply

Hi there, I would like to use AWB to help speed up edits replacing the deprecated |alma_mater= parameter from some infoboxes. Here are some examples of the type of edit I have made manualy, , and here is an example of another user who has used AWB to make these types of edits HaphazardBinBag (talk) 21:26, 30 July 2026 (UTC)reply

I already have some experience with making changes using semi-automatic tools (and even my automatic bot) I build myself with PyWikiBot, but it would be a lot easier if I didn't have to write an entire program each time I want to make new edits.

I would use AWB to help me add add navboxes I create to various pages in a category, fix duplicated and deprecated parameters in templates, and test AWB scripts that I may submit BRFAs for as FlammableBot tasks in the future. FlammablePizza (talk) 23:32, 2 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hello! I recently saw this tool pop while looking at my watchlist and I decided I kind of need this. I make articles and heavily expand articles during my pasttime, and sometimes wrong grammar slips by whenever I make/edit these articles. One of the hardest ones to spot are the typos and double letters. I would mostly use the AWB just so I could check the grammar on the articles I've edited and some others as well. This is just so that not another editor has to fix a typo I made for some time ago. If you would like some more information, I would happily oblige. (Here are my edits statistics btw) DoNothingEveryday (talk) 09:08, 5 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I request the use of AWB to perform the following tasks:

  • Add archive-url, archive-date, and url-status to references with dead or substantially changed/deviated URLs, using an appropriate web archive where available.
  • Find duplicate references and consolidate them by replacing repeated full citations with named references (<ref name="..."/>. Miria~01 (talk) 23:02, 9 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Have had this on and off in the past. It was removed for inactivity but I'm looking at getting back into more of this type of work. LittlerPuppers (talk) 18:32, 15 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I would like to request for AWB perm to do mass copyediting, such as uncontroversial typo-fixing. I have carefully read Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser, Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/User manual, and Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage/Guide, so I will check each diff to avoid cosmetic edits and respect the varieties of English. At the moment, I would like to use AutoWikiBrowser to make repetitive edits for copyedit purposes such as typos and bad grammar. I also plan to use this tool to find and edit broken or badly formatted references that are repetitively used in articles having a higher prose length. Thanks. Hi! :D

I'd like to have AWB/JWB access to do large scale noncontroversial edits such as mass typo fixing and template maintainance. I already have experience with semi-automated editing tools and regex, and have read WP:AWB and related subpages. enbi [they/them][talk] 23:10, 24 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hi I know I have under 250 edits on this account, but I have used various accounts throughout the years I'm confident exceed 250. I want to use AWB to create lists of pages with the Empty section template to update sections that have been empty for a long time by either removing the sections (>5 years say), or providing some additional information if it is in my realm of expertise. I don't think that would be particularly controversial. Thank you! Elirockenbeck1 (talk) 19:57, 25 August 2026 (UTC)reply

(Non-administrator comment) AWB's list-making feature doesn't require you to have perms (which are only needed for AWB editing). You can also try this PetScan search. Crestfalling (talk/contribs) 05:49, 30 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Rename of User:EF5; am already on the list. Need it quite urgently given a major issue just came up regarding thousands of specific sources. Eoline 00:16, 29 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hello. I would like to request AWB for various tedious tasks including fixing malformed links and updating templates like Estonian county stub templates affected by the 2017 Estonian administrative reforms. Mathguy2718 (talk) 15:09, 30 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Requesting AWB access primarily for the following 2 mass editing tasks:
1. CS1 errors in citation references (e.g. redundant/deprecated/unsupported parameter, URL issues, missing name, etc.)
2. Infobox deprecated parameters (primarily of BLPs)
hopefully these tasks would be easier to do en-masse with AWB, I find it all very fun and would like to do it slightly faster. E247G (talk) 06:07, 31 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Hello there. I came accross AWB a few days ago. I have been aiming at updating 30 items per month. See [edits]. Since Wikimania I am looking for alternative ways in which to update Wikipedia and would appreciate the opportunity to use this tool. To perform mainspace link maintenance, update redirected wikilinks (such as sports statistics/player name updates), and apply general cleanup fixes using AWB's built-in tools. RavanaTALK 15:37, 31 August 2026 (UTC)reply
