Monnappa Bayavanda shared thisIs Hyrox for you? Hyrox Delhi – July 2025: I was pretty sure I wasn’t the “Hyrox type”, but still, I gave in when Shyam Sunder and Deepak Raj nudged me into signing up for HYROX Doubles. A couple of days later, we were at the start line. No Hyrox-specific prep. No plan. No expectations. Just effort - powered by my runs, Shyam's strength, and the shared habit of showing up. Everything felt new. I had literally fallen off the rowing machine the first time I tried it the night before the race! But somehow, there we were. Despite rookie mistakes - gassing out too early, walking through the Roxzone, and even accidentally switching stations and picking up a penalty - we surprisingly landed on the podium! Hyrox Mumbai – September 2025: Fast forward to last weekend. This time, we came in with intent. We built a strategy around our strengths and fixed everything that went wrong at Delhi. We shared our load better, stayed sharp on transitions, and (importantly) stuck to the station sequence! The result? We shaved off 15 minutes and jumped from third to first on the podium! And to add to the challenge, we teamed up with two incredible athletes - Harsha Marigowda and Sagar Bhat - for the relay later that same day. The group energy was unreal. Each of us gave it our all! And we topped the podium again! Two top podiums in one day! One as a pair. One as a quartet. Maybe there’s no such thing as a “Hyrox type”. All it takes is a decent foundation, a nudge, the right team, and the willingness to show up! So... is Hyrox for you? Yes indeed. Monnappa Bayavanda, the ultra runner. Sagar Bhat, the triathlete. Harsha Marigowda, the Boston marathoner. Me, the hybrid. Last Sunday at HYROX Mumbai, we decided to find out. Monnappa and I teamed up for the Doubles - first place in 1h18m. All four of us came together in the Men’s Relay - first again in 1h11m. 2 top spot podiums in one day - that’s just icing on the cake. The real win? As individuals, we’re not well-rounded. But as a team, we are. That’s not just true for Hyrox. It’s how Monnappa and I are building PRFM too. We bring very different strengths - and together we’re shaping something bigger. Building cutting-edge sports tech and corporate wellness. Monnappa Bayavanda shared thisThis episode perfectly captures my journey as a runner and gives me the opportunity to share a new chapter in my professional life. At BHIVE, I always carried a second identity as a health and fitness enthusiast. Over the last couple of years, I found myself having far more conversations with colleagues about adopting healthier, more active lifestyles - a perspective shaped by the nearly 60 races I’ve run over the years, including 11 marathons and 6 ultramarathons. These informal discussions soon turned into quasi coaching - helping people run their first race, kick long-standing habits like smoking or pursue general fitness goals. What began as a side passion has now grown into something serious: a tech venture designed to solve problems for the running, endurance and fitness community. I am thrilled to share that Shyam Sunder and I have embarked on this journey. I have known Shyam for nearly a decade - first as a BHIVE customer and an astute entrepreneur, and later as a fellow fitness enthusiast - qualities that make him the ideal partner for this journey. It started with us geeking out over each other’s wearable metrics and habit formation frameworks, and gradually evolved into brainstorming venture-worthy ideas. After months of validating (and invalidating!) directions, we have now zeroed in on a particular idea - details of which we will share in the coming weeks. Always happy to discuss more with anyone curious! My heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this journey so far. We are excited to partner with many more in the times to come. As we used to say at Amazon - it’s still “Day One” - and we are super excited about what the future holds! I will continue to stay involved with BHIVE, building it into “the fittest community” out there! A big thank you to Shesh and my fellow Bees for shaping this larger initiative. And we've come a decent way along in making our mark in Bangalore and while I'm a solo founder and yes we're not there yet to have a consistent solid team. I'd be lying if I say I don't have anyone working with me. I have at the very least 20people I can count and say they've actively helped me grow fc to where we are today. We hosted our first flagship event of a 73.6km run yesterday and it was only possible cause of the massive support I got from the community, friends and family. It was a success in so many different ways and we're so excited to make this a bigger event next year (hopefully with a reduced distance) Context: 73.6km was run by 7 lead athletes to highlight the 73.6% of men represented in suicide data in India, NCRB 2024 (pictured from post run: Monnappa Bayavanda Dharmendra D Lily D. We officially unveiled BHIVE Platinum Plus, Phoenix Asia Towers Hebbal, inaugurated by our Brand Ambassador, Milind Soman. With this launch, BHIVE proudly expands into North Bengaluru with one of our most premium workspaces yet. What made the evening truly special wasn't just the space, it was the people who came together to celebrate this milestone. We had the privilege of hosting an exclusive gathering of HNIs, investors, founders, business leaders, and members of the BHIVE community for an evening of meaningful conversations and memorable experiences. The fireside chat with Milind Soman was a personal highlight. We spoke about discipline, consistency, building for the long term, and why success, whether in business or endurance sports, is never about shortcuts. The energy continued with push-up challenges, selfies, live music, great food, and countless conversations that reminded me why communities matter more than buildings. At BHIVE, we have always believed that workspaces should do more than provide desks. They should bring together ambitious people, spark ideas, and create opportunities for meaningful connections. 𝙇𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙛𝙞𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙩 40+. It starts with embarrassment. You are the slowest in the room. The heaviest on the course. The one people glance at and quietly wonder — should he/she really be here? Yes. He/She should to set an example & inspire others! Less than a year ago, Shesh - CEO, BHIVE Group - threw down a challenge that changed my life. The Ironman. I had no business accepting it. I accepted it anyway. That one decision rewired everything. On April 12th, I crossed the HYROX finish line representing BHIVE Workspace at HYROX Bengaluru — powered by Ultrahuman - in a jump that surprised even my family & well-wishers. This is not a post about being fit. This is a post about deciding to begin - at 44, at 86kg, with a stomach that refuses to cooperate. The legs that carried me across that line today are the same legs that nearly quit a hundred times in training. The difference between the person who finishes and the person who doesn't is not talent. It is the decision to not stop and understanding that consistency is the only unfair advantage. Massive gratitude to: 🙏 Deepak Raj & HYROX INDIA - thank you for bringing world-class fitness racing to India and making it accessible to every kind of athlete. 🙏 Shesh Rao Paplikar & BHIVE Workspace Endurance Group - the Ironman challenge that started it all. Every station, every metre. 🙏 𝗠𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 & 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 - every early morning, every hard session, every word of encouragement. None of this happens without you. Monnappa Bayavanda liked thisMy first LinkedIn post!!! My first Hyrox post!!! It’s been 20 years since my last competitive race: Triathlon Nationals in Feb ’06, when I retired from sport. Not many people at work know this side of me, so this might be a surprise. 2026: The motive this year is to get back into fitness! Feb 8th – To celebrate what I’m passionate about, I ran the Dubai - Burj to Burj Half Marathon in 1:50:25 Turns out, comebacks are addictive: one start line leads to another. IYKYK. When HYROX INDIA announced its first-ever Bengaluru event – I was thrilled to experience HYROX in Namma Uru, my hometown! Deepak Raj – The face of IRONMAN 70.3 GOA and HYROX INDIA, and an Ironman finisher himself. Massive respect and congratulations on what you have accomplished and making India proud. Mar 1st – Must admit, the first Hyrox training session humbled me and made me question if I’d be race-ready in a month. Apr 11th – Raced in Women’s Open and finished in 1:30:06, definitely happy and elated by the experience and unexpected AG podium. April 12th – I was offered a last-minute spot in Mixed Doubles and jumped at the opportunity. Fresh off the race the previous day, I knew exactly what to change and what to repeat to test my readiness for the Pro category. With the help of my amazing partner Avinash Kudpaje — his mastermind and business pitches work constantly — we finished in 1:51:36. It’s already a week since my first Hyrox, and it has taken some time for the buzz to settle! Apr 19th – After a week-long rest, ran at the PUMA Group Myntra organized 5.45k course in 26:06 (5k in 23:55), surprisingly finished 3rd overall. Have I done my best in these races? Probably not – I had way too much left in the tank. That’s the takeaway I’m carrying forward! I’m just enjoying racing and being on the course competing again. Grateful to be experiencing and reliving my teenage years, in some ways – couldn’t have asked for more. Trying to see where this could lead me, maybe it’s time I begin a new chapter!!!
