The Centre of Excellence marks an important step towards strengthening advanced technical education, research, innovation, and industry–academia collaboration in the critical domains of AI and Cyber Security. It will provide our students and faculty with valuable opportunities to develop industry-relevant skills and work on emerging technologies. Developed by ACSEL Technology Forum, CoE-AI, at the IIT Alumni Centre Bengaluru, Tathyakosh brings together 1.5+ million datasets from 458 sources on a single searchable platform. The platform can support researchers, startups, developers and policymakers working across areas such as healthcare, agriculture, climate, legal research and financial inclusion. He turned a $350 billion company into a $4.6 trillion tech (& now AI) giant 😳 To put this into perspective, the ~$4.2 trillion he added is roughly the size of the entire UK stock market. This was a 15-year masterclass in scale: → iPhone still prints insane amounts of cash → Apple Watch and AirPods became category leaders → Services crossed $100 billion a year → Apple Silicon ended the Intel era. John Ternus, a 25-year Apple lifer and mechanical engineer, takes over tomorrow. He has run hardware for iPhone, Mac, Watch, AirPods, and Vision Pro and is the first hardware-background CEO in three decades. Naveen Athresh liked thisNaveen Athresh liked thisThis week will be about Customs & AI. It is not the first. Global trade has always depended on information. What is being shipped? Where did it originate? How should it be classified? Does it comply with the rules? What level of risk does it represent? It is all about data. Today we have it. We collect it from source, manage, verify, providing supply chain visibility & agility in a time of uncertainty. AI is changing how quickly & potentially how well we can answer these questions. That makes customs & trade one of the most consequential areas for AI adoption. The timing matters. Supply chains are becoming more complex, regulatory requirements are expanding, customs authorities are being asked to facilitate legitimate trade while responding to new security, revenue, enforcement challenges. At the same time, businesses increasingly expect borders to operate with the speed & predictability of the digital economy. Simply adding more people & processes will not be enough. AI offers a different path. It can help customs administrations make better use of the enormous volumes of data already moving through trade systems, spotting patterns, identifying anomalies, strengthening risk management, allowing officials to focus attention where it matters most. For businesses AI will transform compliance from a largely manual reactive exercise into something increasingly proactive: identifying classification issues, regulatory requirements, or documentation errors before a shipment reaches the border. But the bigger opportunity is not automation. It is redesign. AI gives governments & industry an opportunity to reconsider how information is exchanged, how risks are assessed, how trust is established across increasingly digital supply chains. In the longer term, the most important question may not be how AI makes today's customs processes faster, but which of those processes are still necessary in an AI-enabled trading system. That opportunity comes with responsibility. Customs decisions affect revenue, market access, supply chains & the movement of goods across borders. AI systems used in this environment must therefore be trustworthy, explainable, secure, subject to meaningful human oversight. Poor-quality data or opaque algorithms could make existing problems faster rather than solve them. This is why the conversation needs to happen now. The adoption of AI in trade will not wait for a perfect policy framework. Governments, businesses, technology providers & international institutions should begin defining the principles, standards, safeguards that will determine how these technologies are deployed. The countries & organizations that lead this conversation will not simply modernize customs. They will help shape the infrastructure of the next generation of global trade. The question is no longer whether AI will become part of the border. It is whether we will use this moment to build a smarter, more trusted, more connected trading system around it.

Highly recommend for anyone interested in understanding the tech behind Reasoning models, this gives lot of structure to learn and execute. My notes: 1. A fair bit of what we do as AI PMs / Engineers like chaining, critique, verification, generating multiple answers and voting are basically inference time scaling. The core idea is simple, if one response is not good enough, let the model think more, try more paths and pick the best one. 2. One interesting learning is that more thinking does not always mean better answers. Self critique can sometimes make a correct answer worse, while something as simple as generating 5 answers and taking the majority can work surprisingly well. 3. The biggest evolution in model training has been RLVR + GRPO. Generate multiple responses for the same prompt, score them using a verifier, compare each response with the group average and reinforce the better ones. This removed the need for a separate critic model used in PPO and reduced compute costs significantly. Thanks DeepSeek :) 4. This also makes verifiers extremely important. Much of CodePup AI runs on robust verifiers for token efficiency. If you can reliably tell the model whether the final answer is right or wrong, you don't always need to teach it the exact reasoning path. Give it enough attempts and a good reward signal and useful reasoning behaviour can emerge. 5. Finally Distillation. A small model, the Student, learns from a much larger Teacher model. Generate massive datasets using the large model and train the smaller model on them :) The student will not fully match the teacher, but it can get surprisingly close at a fraction of the cost. This is why open source models can catch up pretty fast with frontier models and why some people call this the Robin Hood of LLM training. Thanks Sebastian Raschka, PhD for penning this one down. Five decades after he first walked into an air cargo complex with an Rs 800 Casio calculator as his only piece of automation, the man who built Blue Dart from Rs 30,000 and sold it for $280 million is still putting in 16 to 18 hour days, only now from the other side of the table. In this candid conversation with Ramprasad Ravi, Editor-in-Chief, Maritime Gateway, Jani opens up about his journey from operator to investor, and why he believes India's mid sized logistics companies are sitting on the biggest opportunity of their lifetime. His view is blunt: the tariff wars and the end of the "global village" have created a global patchwork of corridors, and companies that master one corridor deeply will outperform those chasing global scale. He goes as far as to say that holding shares in a large integrated logistics company today might be less rewarding than holding gold. Through Fundalogical Ventures, Jani has now met more than 150 companies, backing first generation entrepreneurs solving problems nobody else thought to call logistics. A used cooking oil collection network running a reverse milk run model. A cold chain startup monetising underutilised capacity across FMCG warehouses. A 3D printing company whose real challenge was never manufacturing but getting parts made, stored and delivered on time. His filter for writing a cheque is refreshingly simple: why do you need the money, and are you sure you are ready to sell a piece of yourself for it. He also does not hold back on what needs fixing. Cargo sitting at airports for four to six hours while passengers clear immigration in under two. Domestic pharma leakage running close to 50 percent due to poor temperature control. GIFT City's sell and lease back structure, the same one that powered IndiGo's aircraft model, sitting underused for logistics assets. And a call, first made in 1996, for a unified logistics board with the authority to decide and execute on the spot. His message to young founders is equally direct. Speed and self belief are not the problem. The reluctance to let experienced people, "dinosaurs" as he calls them, sit at the table is. As he puts it, when their smartness and our wisdom come together, that is when real progress happens. Issuing instructions around the clock… convening meetings at 3am that no one is allowed to miss. Our sire's name is Zae Menon. And he is also the reason this Onam was unlike any before it. For the first time in our family’s history, four generations sat down to eat the same sadhya. Zae. His father, Uttam. His grandfather… my newest and most exciting promotion so far. And his great-grandfather a.k.a. the Metro Man... E. Sreedharan. The sadhya was excellent of course. It was an engaging discussion with the participants on World Statistics day on 20th October 2020.
The world has come a long way in recognising data as a central pivot and theme around everything we do.
With data comes a lot of interesting challenges…Goal is to work with the Systemix club of my alma mater (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade) to mentor their students.

The world has come a long way in recognising data as a central pivot and theme around everything we do.
With data comes a lot of interesting challenges. Management of data, the usage of data, the difference between ethical usage, usage by ads where we are the “product”, personalisation, Data privacy acts, trust, transparency, quality of data, closing this trust gap, partnering IT and Analytics to drive transformation, laying out a Chief data officer role for organisations, data as an enabler in International business. -

The International Software Product Management Association (ISPMA) is an open non-profit association of experts, companies, and research institutes with the goal to foster software product management excellence across industries.
ISPMA establishes software product management as a discipline in both academia and industry, and disseminates and maintains a Curriculum and a Certifiable Body of Knowledge (SPMBOK).
The SPMBOK is documented in syllabi that are the basis for training courses and certification exams. The syllabi are available for free for all members. Training courses can be offered by commercial training providers and universities. Certification exams are conducted by independent certification agencies that issue the certificates on behalf of ISPMA.
ISPMA also provides a platform for communication and exchange between its members, be it on conferences, in workshops and working groups, or on the internet. -
