There was a time in his childhood when a meal for this young boy meant nothing more than a roti with sugar dissolved in water. Coming from a family that struggled to make ends meet, he grew up seeing his father work relentlessly as a plumber in another state, laboring seven days a week to sustain their family of six. Even something as simple as a toy during festivals felt like a distant luxury.

Taking to the subreddit Indian Flex, the tech professional shared his journey from freelancing to landing a Rs 27 lakh per month job offer.

Early Distractions and a Turning Point

He had shown promise in studies until his tenth grade but later lost focus and spent much of his time on a basic keypad phone. Ironically, what seemed like a distraction became a foundation for his career. Through that small device, he explored the internet, discovered ways to earn through coupons, and managed to save enough to purchase a low-cost monitor and a stick PC. That single step opened doors to the world of technology, where he experimented with rooting devices, flashing ROMs, working on Linux systems, and learning the fundamentals of WordPress, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

    Failures, Persistence, and Self-Learning

His journey was far from smooth. He failed one subject in his twelfth grade, had to reattempt quickly, and eventually pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. Despite these setbacks, he never stopped learning. Without access to expensive resources, he turned to pirated web development courses, YouTube tutorials, and blogs. Gradually, he built skills in React, Node, MySQL, and full-stack development.

    First Steps into Work Life

Family pressure to secure a job pushed him to apply for call centers and data entry roles, but repeated rejections led him to freelancing platforms. His first projects earned him just $10 and $30 for building websites, but they gave him the confidence to take on more. By creating personal projects and showcasing them, he built a strong resume that helped him secure internships. One such internship led to his first full-time role at a small Mohali-based company offering Rs 3 lakh per annum.

    Rapid Career Growth

That job became the real learning ground where he worked across multiple technologies, including PHP, Angular, and DevOps. After nearly a year, he moved to Noida with a better package of Rs 7 lakh. Over the next two years, his salary steadily rose to 10, then 11.5, and eventually 16 lakh per annum. His big leap came when he was hired by a product-based company at an impressive 27 lakh package.

    A Message for Dreamers

From surviving on sugar water and roti to building a thriving career, his story stands as proof that persistence, curiosity, and consistent effort can transform even the harshest circumstances into success.
