Having worked in the running events space, we know that getting 7,000+ women to register for a brand-new event is no small feat. There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes before a number like that appears in a headline — the strategy, marketing, partnerships, community building, content, media, sponsors, last-minute changes and plenty of problem-solving along the way. So seeing the guardian KL Women Running Festival reach this milestone ahead of its inaugural event at Dataran Merdeka is pretty special. It’s also a good reminder that the running community is growing beyond just races and finish times. People want experiences, connection and events that make them feel like they belong. Behind every milestone are months of planning, problem-solving, collaboration, and the unwavering belief that we could create something bigger than a race—a movement that inspires people to lead healthier, more active lives. 16 more months to SEA Games 2027, this time Malaysia is the host. We hope we can help with the selection for the Malaysian marathon representative: 1) Work with the governing body to provide proper criteria & timeline for athletes to prep. 2) Collab with partners to provide training opportunities to nurture our elite runners, hopefully fully funded on our end (cross fingers). 3) Present these wonderful pools of talent to MA & KBS to represent our beautiful country. As a marathon organiser for the past 12 years, we just want to offer whatever help, big or small, we can to improve the sporting scene.
