Health Awareness Initiatives
We believe that equitable healthcare starts with knowledge, trust, and access.
Educating and Empowering Communities
Our Health Awareness Initiatives are designed to support underserved communities across North Carolina through education, prevention, and empowerment. By addressing the most urgent health concerns impacting minority populations-from chronic conditions to access barriers—we aim to bridge health disparities and create pathways to wellness for every individual and family.
Mental Health
Awareness
We recognize that mental health is a vital part of whole-person health—impacting individuals, families, and entire communities. Yet in many communities of color, mental health challenges have been overlooked, misunderstood, or met with stigma. That must change. Through focused education, community engagement, and support for competent care, ONSMS is dedicated to opening conversations, expanding access, and promoting mental wellness across North Carolina.
Vaccination
Awareness
We are dedicated to protecting community health through proactive respiratory illness prevention. As seasonal viruses and evolving COVID-19 strains continue to pose risks, especially for children, seniors, and those with chronic conditions, staying current on COVID-19, RSV, and flu vaccinations remains one of the strongest tools we have to reduce illness, hospitalizations, and health disparities.
Medicaid
Resources
We’re focused on ensuring that individuals and families across North Carolina can access the care they need. A key part of that effort is helping communities understand Medicaid—who’s eligible, what’s covered, and how to enroll. With Medicaid expansion changing what’s possible for many, we’re here to provide clear, trusted guidance every step of the way.
