About
I am Managing Director for Asia Pacific at a NYSE-listed global leader in digital asset infrastructure, and President of our MAS-regulated Singapore entity. I am responsible for business growth, market development, and operating infrastructure across the APAC region.
We work with the world’s leading crypto exchanges, financial institutions, fintechs, and asset managers, delivering a comprehensive suite of services — including regulated custody, wallets, staking, trading, OTC services, financing, and settlement — that is transforming how institutional capital is managed and deployed.
Before this, I led APAC public policy and strategic partnerships at blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs as part of its founding regional team, helping governments, crypto firms, and financial institutions fight crypto fraud and financial crime. Prior to TRM, I spent over a decade at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, where I led the team that built and operationalised Singapore’s payments and crypto licensing regime.
I operate at the intersection of emerging tech, institutional infrastructure, and public policy — and I believe the best outcomes in this industry happen at the confluence of commercial opportunity and regulatory clarity, made possible by frank and constructive public-private dialogue.
I’m always happy to connect — whether you’re an institution navigating digital asset adoption, a policymaker thinking through regulatory frameworks, or a fellow builder in this space.

Angela Ang shared this🇲🇾 Thank you Luno for having me at LIDAC 2026. Institutional demand for digital assets is picking up across the region and Malaysia is no exception. When it comes to institutional-grade infrastructure, the answer is not one size fits all, and institutions and regulators alike should go back to first principles around operational resilience, security, legal and governance provisions, while taking the time to understand the technical differences (e.g. HSM and MPC can co-exist and are not mutually exclusive!) Props to James Lanigan, Aaron Tang, Scarlett Chai and team for a great event! And to my fellow panelists Vincent Fong, Ji Sheng Tan and Aaron Thian for a fun chat. #LIDAC26KL

Angela Ang shared this🌎 BitGo and OKX are expanding Off-Exchange Settlement to eligible institutions outside the U.S., bringing Go Network to more markets. Through the expanded integration, clients can access OKX's global liquidity while supported assets remain in segregated, regulated custody with BitGo Singapore until settlement. 🔒 Regulated, independent custody 💧 Access to exchange liquidity ⚡ Automated post-trade settlement through Go Network ⚖️ Clear separation between custody and execution Huge milestone for us and kudos to all the teams who made this happen!

Angela Ang shared this🇸🇬 In the two years since BitGo received our MAS license, APAC institutional demand for digital assets has shifted from "if" to "how." Our Singapore growth story tracks this shift. I recently sat down with our team to unpack BitGo's growth journey in Singapore and what's ahead: 🔹 2x Singapore headcount and 3x APAC clients in two years 🔹 Growth of BitGo Prime's Singapore volumes points to where our client relationships are headed next - trading against global liquidity, with settlement that doesn't require assets to leave custody to execute. 🔹 We're only just entering the institutional era of digital assets in earnest. In the last 2 years, we've been working with regulated institutions across the region to set up the operational and compliance plumbing that has to be built before anything runs at scale. In the next two years, success is having converted that foundation into volumes that move the region's market structure. More in the full blog. (Link in comments👇 )

Angela Ang shared this🇸🇬 Huge milestone for BitGo Singapore as we celebrate our new office! Happy to share that we've finally moved into our very own office here in Singapore, one of my first projects since joining the team in May. From looking at listings to fabric samples to lighting panels, this was definitely a whole journey, and we couldn't have got here without support from our amazing office management and digital technology team. But the real journey to this office started years ago, when the team was just a few desks in a coworking space. Without many, many colleagues' (and alumni!) tireless work to build and grow our APAC business, we would not here today. Singapore is our regional hub and has been critical in supporting our growth across the region. In the last two years since securing our MAS Major Payment Institution license, BitGo has doubled our Singapore headcount and tripled our APAC client base. Singapore also houses the biggest trading desk within BitGo Prime, and we've seen our Prime volumes here more than double in 1H26. Thank you to all the clients, partners and friends that came out to celebrate this milestone. We definitely could not have got here without your support over the years. Special thanks to Jeyson Ng (Moomoo SG), Tianwei Liu (StraitsX) and Steven Hu (OCBC) for sharing your insights on what it means to build in Singapore. It takes an ecosystem of innovators to build Singapore's digital asset industry, alongside Singapore's unique brand of public-private partnership and regulatory clarity. Onwards and upwards 🚀

Angela Ang shared this🇭🇰 Bitcoin week in Hong Kong was 🌙 🚀 🔥 Great week in HK soaking in the energy at Bitcoin Asia, connecting with old friends and meeting new ones. Enjoyed unpacking the institutional response to borderless world of digital assets alongside John Cahill (Galaxy Digital), Jason Fang (Sora Ventures), Jay Lee (Hausen Law, LLC) led by our fearless moderator Ryan J. Miller (Wincent) keeping things fun and punchy. Navigating regulation - and doing it well - is a critical part of building for the institutional era of digital assets. BitGo’s global licensing footprint across the US, Singapore, Dubai, Frankfurt, and more has been a strategic advantage for us, along with over a decade of experience building institutional-grade infrastructure. The recent addition of NYDIG’s institutional trading team to the BitGo family has further strengthened our institutional relationships and capital markets capabilities. This is our institutional response. Also had a great time at the HKU Business School Digital Assets Exchange talking digital asset treasuries with Belle L. (Xapo Bank), Mitty Chang (Sora Ventures) and Duke Waldrop (UTXO Management). Thanks Jeremy Chiang for the invite and also really enjoyed your fireside chat with Michael Lau that left us all feeling a little Bullish 😉 And as always with HK, the food was 😋. Can’t wait to be back soon!

Angela Ang shared thisBitGo has acquired NYDIG’s institutional trading business. It’s been an eventful couple of weeks at BitGo and very excited to share this latest development. This adds incredible strength to our capital markets capabilities across derivatives, structured products, financing and more. Institutional capital is ready for digital assets, and we are here for it. 🚀Angela Ang shared thisBitGo has entered a definitive agreement to acquire NYDIG's institutional trading business, adding execution, derivatives, structured products, and financing capabilities that complement our federally-regulated custody, settlement, and wallet infrastructure. NYDIG's institutional trading business serves asset managers, hedge funds, corporates, family offices, and other sophisticated institutional investors. This acquisition strengthens BitGo's position as a comprehensive platform for digital assets, giving institutions access to a broader range of trading and capital markets services in one integrated, regulated system. Angela Ang shared this🇮🇩 Major takeaway from Coinfest Asia - the institutions are coming. Always a pleasure to be at Coinfest, this time at the beautiful Melasti Beach in Uluwatu, connecting with builders, institutions and other like-minded folks in the digital asset ecosystem. One notable shift was the scale of institutional participation this year, with banks and fintechs out in force at a whole new level. This is in keeping with the continued acceleration of institutional adoption we are seeing around the globe. Against this backdrop, it was great to share some reflections on the intricacies of cracking the Asian market - companies cannot hope to win the region with a single “Asia strategy.” You need time to understand each individual market and build local partnerships. For BitGo, this has culminated in our partnership with ICEx Group to bring our institutional grade custody tech to the Indonesian ecosystem. Also enjoyed a lively and cosy session talking about GTM strategies for Singapore. Thank you to Steven Suhadi and team for your amazing hospitality yet again. Looking forward to Coinfest 2027 already 😎

Angela Ang liked thisAngela Ang liked thisOKX and BitGo are expanding their Off-Exchange Settlement integration internationally, giving eligible institutions access to OKX liquidity while supported assets remain in segregated, regulated custody with BitGo Singapore. With Mike Belshe, CEO and Co-Founder of BitGo, and Star Xu and CEO of OKX, the expanded integration separates custody, execution, and settlement while helping institutions access global digital asset liquidity with greater control over where assets are held. The model builds on their earlier U.S. relationship through BitGo’s Go Network and extends the same infrastructure to eligible institutions across international markets. A significant step toward more regulated, interoperable, and institution-focused digital asset market infrastructure. Angela Ang liked thisAngela Ang liked thisBuilding the Future of Tokenised Finance in ASEAN and beyond 🚀 Following Zhu Kuang’s keynote at the ABS Seminar yesterday, I had the pleasure of joining an insightful discussion with a distinguished panel: Alan Lim (Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)), Jane Pukasemvarangkoon (RippleRipple), Nischint S. (Visa) and Saurabh Dhingra (EY), on the future of tokenised finance in ASEAN. While the technology is increasingly proven, scaling real-world adoption will depend on three critical foundations: 1️⃣ Interoperable infrastructure 2️⃣ Trusted governance 3️⃣ Organisational readiness For ASEAN, this does not mean putting everyone on a single network. Our diversity is a strength. The opportunity is to build a network of interoperable networks, connecting different forms of money, assets and markets while preserving trust, regulatory integrity and jurisdictional sovereignty. At UOB, we see our role as a trusted orchestrator, helping clients navigate across tokenised and fiat ecosystems to harness more efficient, trusted and intelligent ways of value movement. Through initiatives such as SWIFT Digital Ledger, Project BLOOM and Open Standard, we are working alongside ecosystem partners to help shape the standards, interoperability and trust frameworks needed for tokenised finance to scale. Looking ahead, the future is unlikely to be defined by a single form of digital money. It will be a multi-rail ecosystem where trust, interoperability and programmability enable value to move seamlessly across borders and increasingly, AI-driven digital ecosystems. Angela Ang reacted on thisAngela Ang reacted on thisSoon we will find out what really drives stablecoin adoption at scale. Open Standard launched Open USD (OUSD) this week, with Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe and Visa as founding partners, 200+ companies in its network, and more than $1B in launch liquidity committed. The last time a lineup this large got behind a dollar token was Facebook's Libra. OUSD has already gone further: it is live. A disclosure before my view: I hold Circle shares and ran Circle's business in Asia until August, so weigh what follows with that in mind. My view: distribution is necessary but not sufficient for stablecoin adoption; OUSD is about to test that. Issuers also have to get licensing, regulation, governance and access to fiat right. Five things I'll be watching over the next 6 to 12 months: 1️⃣ Europe and Asia. The EEA is first on OUSD's geo-restriction list. When OUSD opens there matters: the EU is the world's second-largest economy. In Asia, the list tracks sanctions, not local regimes. Japan, Hong Kong and (soon) Singapore each license stablecoins on their own terms, and how OUSD approaches them will say a lot about its global ambitions. 2️⃣ Rewards. GENIUS bars issuers from paying interest to holders. OUSD lets businesses earn rewards on balances held at Bridge. Where the line sits between rewards and interest is an open question for the whole industry, not only OUSD. Open Standard's blog says businesses "can earn rewards equivalent to treasury yields." How regulators read that will set a precedent for everyone. 3️⃣ Governance. There are five founding partners today, with a board and partner equity tied to supply and activity to come. I have seen two-party JVs stall on product decisions. How a five-founder, 200-partner network decides on pricing, chains and new markets will be worth following. 4️⃣ Neutrality. Stripe sits at the center: it owns Bridge, the issuer; Bridge co-founder Zach Abrams is Open Standard's CEO; and OUSD runs on Stripe-incubated Tempo from day one. With Bridge and Privy, Stripe has assembled a full stablecoin payments stack since early 2025. Whether Stripe's competitors promote OUSD will show if the market accepts it as neutral. 5️⃣ On/off-ramping. A stablecoin is only as useful as its exit. Without deep on- and off-ramps, a new dollar token works like a gift card: fine where it's accepted, awkward everywhere else. Bridge charges partners nothing to mint or redeem. The real test is what a merchant in Jakarta or a treasurer in Seoul pays to get back to local currency. None of these are reasons to dismiss OUSD. They are the questions that decide whether distribution turns into usage. More serious players in this market push everyone, including my former employer, to build better. I'll revisit these five in six months and share what the data says.

Singapore's crypto licensing regime has run for six-plus years without a single reversal. Roughly 300 firms applied for a license. Only 37 made it through. Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has since fined three of them a combined S$4.8 million for AML failures, and revoked one license entirely in 2026. Holding it is legal, and casual holders pay no capital gains tax. Spending it is limited, but cash-out to your bank is instant. Self-custody stays entirely outside MAS's reach. Singapore is also home to Crypto.com and Pendle, a retail giant and DeFi's top yield protocol, a different picture from the tightly licensed exchanges above. 9Pay Highlights Local Trust As Critical Factor In Cross-Border Payment Expansion Across Asia-Pacific Markets HANOI, Vietnam, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As the global cross-border payments market projects growth to an estimated $238 billion, 9Pay highlights local trust as the critical factor for successful expansion across Asia-Pacific markets. While global connectivity provides the infrastructure, the ability to operate effectively within local ecosystems has become the defining challenge for fintechs and businesses entering the region. 9Pay highlights local trust as critical factor in cross-border payment For Vietnamese businesses expanding overseas and international brands entering Vietnam, cross-border payments involve far more than moving money between accounts. Each transaction operates within a complex framework covering anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions screening, source-of-funds verification, transaction monitoring and chargeback management. The challenge is compounded by differences in payment ecosystems and regulatory frameworks. A model that works efficiently in one market cannot simply be replicated in another. Nicole Nguyen, Founder of APAC DAO & Vietnam Fintech Summit, said: "Common bottlenecks include licensing, reliance on domestic payment infrastructure such as NAPAS, and settlement requirements in VND. Yet the biggest gap is often underestimated: market understanding and trust. Foreign businesses can struggle to build distribution networks without local relationships, while domestic fintechs benefit from their understanding of consumer behavior and the credibility built over time." This makes local adaptation increasingly important. In Asian markets such as China and Japan, where business relationships often rely heavily on local networks and trust, even small gaps in regulatory compliance or risk management can disrupt payment flows. Cost efficiency alone is no longer enough; businesses also need partners that understand how each market works. "Local trust": the capability behind global connectivity Le Tuan Anh, Business Development Director at 9Pay, which works with hundreds of businesses across major markets, said the challenge is not simply connecting a transaction from point A to point B, but ensuring it operates smoothly and compliantly. "Global connectivity is becoming increasingly accessible from a technology perspective. But for money to move reliably within a market, businesses need a strong understanding of the local payment ecosystem, regulations and transaction behavior," he said. For 9Pay, "local trust" is built through an established presence in Vietnam, including collaboration with regulators, connections with domestic banks and payment service providers, and established local payment infrastructure. These capabilities help integrate global payment technology and international money flows into Vietnam's domestic ecosystem. Technology itself is no longer a clear dividing line between Vietnamese ...

In his piece, Michael highlighted the potential for standing voting instructions to increase retail participation and deliver benefits for issuers: “By providing retail shareholders with an option to establish durable voting preferences and to override their votes on individual matters, these technologies can help issuers increase participation, reduce solicitation costs, and gain greater insight into investor sentiment.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ewJkqEDW #ProxyVoting #CorporateGovernance #ShareholderEngagement
