Which trees in Thailand are the best at absorbing water?

Amongst the multitudinous "experts" on this site I'm hoping these is an expert on grow lamps! Got a few from lazada (only had "white light") and they've been running for a few weeks now. My query is why have the tomato plants under them grown to over 7 feet? With no sign of fruit. The last few I got for greens are a nice warm katoy pink!

Doing a pond enlargement very soon. Was searching for plants on the banks. Elderberries seem to tolerate this environment but I was not able to find any local info (within thailand) on this plant. Does anybody grow this/seen this for sale?

Anybody besides me got a growing veg habit? These gourds were picked yesterday from 1 plant, so far 13 from it. Looks like gourds for almost every meal for a few weeks, ha, ha.

I know people will say "just bung them in your suitcase and bring them" but what if I want to do things the right way? I'm told that a licence to bring seeds into Thailand is easy to get but not where and how to get one. I believe its a customs matter - anybody done it. I'm only talking about a few packs of seeds but they are ones I like and that I know do well. I haven't tried finding them in Thailand so I'm unaware if they are available - Salvia (Big Blue) and Snapdragon anyone?

Apparently, the three mentioned plants: (1) Rosemary, (2) Basil, and (3) Mint aren’t good plants at all. The best is lemon grass. In many natural environmentally extract from lemon grass is the best. Lemon grass not only repel mosquitoes but all sorts of pests, including rodents and roaches.

Everyone should always obey the law. In real life we do what we can. Should I register my new pot plants? I think any laws about growing are unenforceable at this stage. The cat is out of the bag so to speak. I think for privacy reasons, you forget to do this. Subject to hearing there is enforcement, which will likely be never.

Hi all from a Newby :-) I live in Sakon Nakhon. I'd like some advice on what to plant in largish pots, outdoor. The pots will be on a stand, 30 - 40 cm off the ground. There'll be about 10-12 pots in total. It will form a screen, of sorts, in front of the house. There's heaps of light but only partial direct sunlight. I'd like a little colour in some, most of the pots. I was thinking of bougainvillea, but not sufficient direct sun. I'm happy to have a few palms, maybe bamboo. The colour doesn't have to be flowers, but would be nice. I have tried miniature Lantana for colour but appears too little direct sun for many flowers. Maintenance isn't a problem, I'm home most o…

Recommendations needed for a good lawn care service. My lawn is causing a headache. Despite laying new turf it starts to die off within weeks. It is watered regularly and was even supplied with fertiliser. There was mention that over-watering is detrimental - correct? Or perhaps the soil needs treatment. Read that frequent mowing is better. How often? HELP!

Does anyone know where I can buy these vegetables? I've seen some dismal looking ones in Villa occasionally, but not for a few years. Has anyone tried growing them, coz up here in Issan - as I'm sure you know, it's cold in November to January, which would be ideal growing conditions. However, just can't find any seeds ...

Acerola is a fruit I fell in love with while living in northeast Brasil. The fruit was tart and juicy and my Brasilian family taught me how to make the most incredible juice from the fruit. The first time I lived in Malaysia, my gf had a tree in the front yard, but they never ate the fruit. After I moved to Thailand, I tried for a long time to get the seeds so I could start my own trees. I even had people sending me seeds from South America, but they never made it past customs. There are times - we all have them - when we find the solution and realize how dumb and complicated we make something. I found trees for sale on Lazada and had three shipped to …

So I have this pradu tree in my yard, which my wife says is protected. Searches on the internet gives only thai language sites (like the thai forest dep.). The info I was able to find about the pradu (Pterocarpus macrocarpus) is that it is almost invasive (long roots brake up a lot, overshadows other plants etc.) Does anyone has info on this, or maybe a list of protected trees? I know the teak, makha and rosewoods are, but that is more from "common knowledge".

The Taste and Aroma of Pandan Leaf there are many uses for this leaf have any of you guys tried it? It’s true that pandan has been used in Thai cooking since the Ayutthaya era. But pandan can be used as fragrant scents. While still on the plant, the leaves have little fragrance. But when you crush and extract the plant, the soothing scents will be released. In fact, if you take a cab in Thailand, you’ll see a bunch of fresh pandan leaves in the passenger seat. The idea is to have its natural fragrance released, as it will serve as your cab’s air freshener. It's cheap enough to buy we bought some the other day from mackro Finally, there’s more to pandan tha…
