I have a 4 camera WI Fi system with recorder that I want placed on the outside of home and set up to record. I understand these are plug and play systems but I am 73 and don't want to be crawling on the roof to place and affix the cameras. If someone knows of an installer who is familiar with setting up camera systems. I think those with familiarity with satellite systems are also competent. Please send me a PM. Thank You.

During the long Songkran holiday I had the opportunity to basically stay at home the entire week owing to the fact that I and my entire family had just recovered from Covid-19 so we thought we should take the opportunity to rest and recuperate at home. That being said I then thought about revisiting the old design I made here https://thethaiger.com/talk/topic/9327-my-house-design-idea/ and redo the whole thing just for fun. And this is the result: Unfortunately my wife has a hard time trying to understand how this design looks since she isn't familiar with technical drawings so for her convenience I took the time to make it in 3D and here they are: Fi…

As the title suggests i am looking for competent electricians in Isaan. Specifically north of Korat city. Visiting the gf s family farm soon. The house electrics leave a lot to be desired. Is there certification available to electricians. I made a comment and remark that came back was that the man in the village who does electrical work is busy with the harvest. The CU is fairly modern with a single RCD although I would prefer something with RCBOs The installation bit I can probably do myself but I need someone competent for testing. I have other concerns is an earthing rod standard or do they use the neutral off the supply. I gu…

Hello all, In a blatant attempt at self promotion, I started a UTube Channel to record my home building experience here in Seka. I did the first video all on my I Phone, which was rather easy. No drone yet, but that will follow! Need to get the Go Pro involved as well. So take a look and give me a like or comment! All criticisms welcome! Thanks!

Having built 2 houses here I've learnt a lot, made mistakes of course, though by and large we've been happy with the end results. Tip #1./ Be prepared to supervise every aspect of your build from start to finish and daily, even hourly during critical phases. Thai builders and tradesmen generally hold no qualifications other than what has been 'handed down' or explained by someone else and most are labourers on ~ 300bt or US$10 per day. A common response when you spot something that doesn't look correct, is "it's how we do it" ... and you need to firmly advise how YOU want it done. Ensure all workers have adequate tools. I've seen a small carpenters squa…

It appears to me that the use of aluminum power wire in Thailand is very common, no doubt to save money. Is it common practice to use Noalox Anti-Oxidant grease when terminating or splicing aluminum wires, such as aluminum power drops into a house main panel? Or not so much in Thailand?

I'm looking for some experience with well drilling in Chiang Rai province. We already drilled a well to 35 meters and the water sucks! I want to re-drill on a different site if it makes sense.

https://www.winfavourfan.com/ - Sold direct or thru any Central Group retail store, Baan&Beyond, ThaiWatsadu, PowerBuy etc. The WinFavour company has a wide range of quality fans available and their after-sales service is 2nd to no-one! (More about that below). We purchased a fan, no-light model similar to the above, for a specific room and it is virtually indistinguishable from our kitchen fan which came from another company and cost almost 3 times the price. The kitchen fan had to black so as to not show any staining over a long period and it made sense to use a similar design and colour for this purpose in the adjacent casual coffee lounge. …

I want to sell my house to a foreigner. Can I do this? What would I/they need to do? I've heard that they could set up a company with a Thai person, perhaps me. Any other way? Also, he wants to pay in installments, what would I need to do legally as in setting up a contract where if he never paid it all, I would keep the land deed.

Looking about for a fair building brick. The only bricks Thais seem to use is the cheap 2/4 holers that are extruded lengthwise. Ugly, not uniform, and wear terribly if not rendered. Seems ridiculous to me to build a cabinet carcass from crap red bricks, then render, then paste on expensive brick look-alikes! How much work is that! Looking for something I can build kitchen with. Those stackable lego blocks aren't what I want either. Are there any clay, fired, facing brick suppliers in Issan? Thanks in advance for any help!

The build was back in 2010, so prices are not worth asking now days. None of the pics are in order, I'm just picking out ones that I like and feel may be of interest to other members.

Some background information. The wife is the second youngest of 4 siblings, born and raised in the Ban Bua Khao village, Pathumrat, Roi Et, which lies midway between Kaset Wisai and Phayakkhaphum Phisai, just off the AH121 highway. https://www.google.co.th/maps/place/Ban+Bua+Khao+Police+Station/@15.5814741,103.4011519,12.75z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x311825779321a1a1:0x3f6b6edb04299712!8m2!3d15.5686932!4d103.4033761?hl=en Her Father was a prominent figure in the community and head of the village. They owned 80 rai of land, mainly producing rice crops and two orchards, and built their home on a half rai plot within the village. Unfortunately, her Father beca…

I live in a gated community that in the past has a security house staffed with a security guard. Candidly they are nothing more than a decoration. Despite changing security guards the gates remain open, they let everyone pass without so much as a question. I know there are systems where there is a permanent gate closure of the entrance and exit to the community. Vehicles have either a bar code which is scanned upon entry and/or there is a keypad to punch in a code. Exit is not a problem with a sensor that rolls the gate open. However, what do others do with legitimate vendors such as water, meter readers, delivery services, etc. I know that some communit…

Ok- I am into lighting, indoors and outdoors. I want outdoor landscaping lighting, but Solar is not a great option- it is too inconsistent. I see powered LED lighting on Home Pro- so yeah! They have it! But- no power transformer!??? What! No power supply? All I see are power supplies for irrigation. Now I have stayed at some nice hotels in Chiang Mai recently and there was NO Solar lighting there- it was a power supply. Where are these hidden power supplies! Can regular people buy them? What the heck?

Has anyone got any idea what these are used for, my brother in law has just bought a stack of them. I asked my wife what they are and she said go in the ground.....are they really piles?

Lack of insulation is a huge problem, at least in my house. I live in a row of connected houses with shared walls. As near as I can see by popping my head up the access hole through the ceiling, there are only 1/2 walls between my house and the neighbors, so my plan is lay fiberglass down on top of the room's ceilings, since insulating the roof itself would be a waste. I'm thinking of using 6" wrapped fiberglass from SCG. It seems to do what I am looking for. Has anyone done this, had any problems, have any suggestions?

In the states we have a Paint Primer,Kilz "I'm painting over a laminated dresser What brand/kind of primer can I buy at Homepro so I only have to do one coat? In the USA I would buy a quart of Kilz, but I have never seen it here".

Hi guys, I have been quite busy making a few designs for my future retirement home. A bit of background, me and my wife own a few houses and a condo in Bkk as well as an ancestral house/land 2 hrs north of Bkk but we plan to give all those away to our daughter once both of us retired. God knows how expensive real estate will be in another 20 years in the city so best to give our kid a head start. Recently we acquired a 1 rai land at Chanthaburi since we both love that province a lot, it seems to have the best of everything - nice beaches, islands, not too far away from Bkk & Pattaya incase there is a need for something unobtainable here, mountains, waterfalls, lo…

Sorry for the long post, I do like to explain things clearly. Yesterday I fitted a replacement shower heater we bought a week ago. A Mazuma 4.5Kw. As you’d expect, the holes for the new one didn’t match up with the original unit I'd removed. At least I did manage to locate one of the new three mounting holes in an old hole. I borrowed my brother-in-law’s electric drill, then just needed to buy a masonry bit to drill the tiles and the wall for the remaining two holes. I had some spare rawlplugs and screws I could use. I noticed the rawlplugs had a ‘6’ embossed on them. I took one as a sample, after looking up the Thai for ‘masonry bit’ and ‘rawlplug’ (ju…

We've had our Hitachi top loader for I think about eight years. In that time never had a problem with the soap dispenser on the inside of the drum (where you pour the soap powder in). Very recently it it's become blocked with hard soap powder to the point nothing will flow through it. Yesterday I spent an hour with a hosepipe forcing water into it, to dislodge the hard soap. Got 90% of it off. After two washes it's now in the same state again. I can't work out why? Is there some solution I can pour in that will dissolve the hard soap without affecting the machine?
