Doi Inthanon National Park is home to Thailand’s highest mountain. The mountain, also known as the “Roof of Thailand,” rises to a height of 2,565 meters. Due to the high altitude, the climate in Doi Inthanon National Park is much cooler than in other areas in Thailand. The 482 square kilometre park is famous for its stunning nature trails, lush rainforests, breathtaking viewpoints, rushing waterfalls, and the stunning twin pagodas that sit at the summit. It’s also home to diverse species of reptiles, birds, and mammals. It’s the perfect destination to get away and indulge in nature. Not far from Loi Kroh Rd, the Night Market area and a few doors up from the Iron Bridge > https://www.facebook.com/sakolexchange1/ The above site should provide all one needs to know EXCEPT the actual fx rate, because Sakol's rate is tied to actual market rates which fluctuate during the day. I believe this allows Sakol to give a better rate, ie: take a smaller commission, than the banks.

This delightful suburban market is far enough off the tourist tracks to be unique and rather special > located to the east of Chiang Mai city, one requires a car or taxi to get there > https://www.facebook.com/ChamchaMarket Set up in village-like splendour with a smooth concrete road running thru the centre, ample shade is provided by decorative awnings, umbrellas and many trees. 5 carparks are provided with the largest ones having ample shade and the smaller ones difficult to access from the busy pedestrian road. Predominantly clothing, crafts, and food including french bakery items and Shan ethnic specialties, there are several coffee shops and a…

JJ Market is a totally new concept and the 1st of it's kind, more are to be rolled out nationwide! A magnificent fully landscaped and sealed weekend market (redeveloped) by Central Group is undoubtedly Chiang Mai's best market for all fruit and vegetables, ready to eat or take home meals, clothing, arts, crafts and so much more. There's a Tops 'Green Market' (above) which is open daily and the weekend 'Farmers Market' sprawls over several acres behind. All fresh and prepared food stalls are fully covered with solid structures and paved areas are well drained to ensure year-round operation regardless of weather. Ample shade and seating is prov…

Our 'winter' arrived a few days ago .... ... and mad southerners are flocking to Doi Inthanon 🏔️ for the experience of close to zero morning temperatures. Some are even camping out. Not my wife though, it's 20c at 0830 and she's wrapped up in 4 layers including a padded jacket 🤣

Dear all, I am usually in the region around Chiang Mai in February/March and this year I would have the opportunity to be in Thailand from the end of August to the end of September. I usually prefer motorbike tours in SOA, has anyone been to the North West/around Chiang Mai and Golden Triangle during this period? In view of the weather conditions, does a motorbike tour make sense there at this time of year, or should one head for the classic islands in the Gulf such as Phangan for island hopping, where the weather is supposed to be the best at that time? Thanks in advance!

Northern specialities like khao soi (coconut curry noodle soup), sai ouer (Northern Thai sausage), and gaeng hanglay (salty and sweet curry commonly served with pork belly) may be found all across the country. As things get worse to travel down south, if Chiang Mai gets a bet better with some pools and restaurants with alcohol open, any suggestions for a hotel or two for some nice hotels for a staycation? As the rest of the country may be out of reach for me, something here with a different taste and feel may just be able to allow me to taste some new coffee shops and eateries? I do know google is not quite that reliable on what is open at this time.

Escape the heat of Chiang Mai city by visiting Hang Dong Quarry, also known as the Chiang Mai Grand Canyon. Obviously, no way near measuring up to its American counterpart, the Chiang Mai Grand Canyon is a former quarry turned into a stunningly beautiful location for a fun day out. Located roughly 45 minutes from Chiang Mai city centre in a small village. The canyon is carved out of red clay soil and is quite a sight to behold. Something a little different to add to your usual Chiang Mai itinerary. Whilst many visitors come to this beautiful province for culture, temples, mountains and rainforest, it's the abundance of fresh produce and quality foods one might enjoy here that is often overlooked. Local markets always fascinate and you'll find some good ones here. Muang Mai city market being a huge wholesale precinct it's not great for tourists as much of it is open air and quite congested, but it's a great place for local to shop. My favourite market is Mae Hia, on the canal road as you head south toward Night Safari. Undercover and clean, you'll find ready-cooked food vendors at the main road end with fresh produce thru the centre all the way back towar…
