Today 28 March I was approaching the traffic lights adjacent to Lotus South Pattaya on my schooter . The traffic had stopped at the red lights and there was a bank of cars some 4 deep, stopped waiting but as I and a group of other Bikers and cars was approaching the rear of the stopped traffic the lights turned green , Not sure how many metres we all were from the now moving traffic. The car in front of me was accelarating and I was slowly approach it and I had to apply a little breaking . I must have been about 3 metres behind her and traveling now after breaking about 15-20 km/h when suddenly she slammed on the breaks . There was no reason why she did that as the all th…

Thailand isn’t exactly known for its safe roads. In fact, the country has some of the most dangerous roads in which to traverse, especially if you take them on by motorbike. Compared to Europe and other Western countries, traffic situations and accidents are not dealt with in the same way. But, as it is quite hard to get an auto loan as an expat, many choose to rent or buy motorbikes to get around the country. Wearing a helmet is, of course, highly recommended, and it is illegal to not wear one in Thailand. However, despite the laws, many still […] The story Thailand’s safest motorbike helmets and where to get them as seen on Thaiger News. Read the full story

I come to Thailand 2-3 times a year, and work remote (a few months at a time) and now have the retirement O ME visa to get in easier :) I like to ride big motorcyles and tour. I have a USA license and IDP. I want to get a bike here to do some touring, and keep it with my friends home near Bangkok when not here. .. but we spend time in Hua Hin. I am looking for a used (few years old) Honda Africa Twin, Transalp or BMW F860 GS. So a few questions... and advice needed: - Might it be easier to get a bike from a dealer so they can handle registration, insurance, etc? - Are dealer negotible with price or it just depends? I have a Thai bank account so payment…

Does it make more sense to buy or rent a scooter for a 6 month stay? The idea being I might save some money buying. If I were to buy, what would be the easiest way to turn around and sell 6 months later?

Motorbikes, motorcycles…..what’s the difference? Although some say there is a difference, having this conversation can end in confusion and mixed results, depending on who you are talking with. As many use such vehicles in their daily lives here in Thailand, the topic often comes up in some way, shape, or form. But, that topic is usually discussed between expats, who bring their home country’s lingo with them upon arriving in the Kingdom. Same same? Or different? Although the 2 terms are quite similar, many argue that they are, indeed, different. Some say that the difference is in the size and […] The story Motorbike or motorcycle? Well at 62 I have just bought a new KTM 1290 Adventure S. 4 years ago I bought a Honda CRF1000 Super Adventure DCT, it was so top heavy I sold it and got a NEW KTM 790 ADV S. so much lighter and easier to manoeuvre. I tamed the 790 and wanted more comfort so got the 1290. fully packed with electronics it has everything including Adaptive cruise control.

Hello, I have a 2015 Honda Click scooter that has wire rims that have rusted. I want to change them to "solid" type rims. here is what i mean by "solid" rim. sorry not sure what to call them: https://www.lazada.co.th//products/i552846087-s1008528126.html?spm=a2o4m.cart.0.0.3a9f6108hK8SM2&urlFlag=true Also I want to switch from innertube to no innertube. the reason i want to do this is i was told solid rims and tubeless are "better". i am ready for a new set of Michelin City Pro tires now also. so the questions are: is do you have experience switching rims on a click? any suggestions on rim type? is tubele…

Just today someone posted on FB how they got pulled over at a BiB motorbike stop in Jomtien and got a ticket for not carrying a copy of the green book. Is this the actual law or just a shakedown?

Just wondering how these can be on the road with no lights. It seems to be more common in Isaan provinces. The amount of times I’ve near clipped one on roads with no lighting too is unreal. Surely there has to be some authority to solve this problem. Rant over ❤️🙏

Using my Rumble account for this one. The Leftists at You Tube might find it "mean" and toss me into a Chinese prison, so..... Enjoy! Share your dash cams if you have it! https://rumble.com/vt6053-motor-bikes-are-special-in-thailand.html

Interested (possibly when easier to get back into Thailand) to rent a full size motorcycle (e.g., Honda Africa Twin or something similar with luggage) to maybe tour around for a week or 2. No itinerary yet... I tried to do some searches but just find moped rentals. Thinking I may start from Pattaya (so so avoid Bangkok and also adjust a few days before start). I had completed a guided tour with Big Bike Tours in Chiang Mai a few years ago so maybe that may be a better place to start (and maybe ask them too). Thx

Hey Guys, I'm looking for a garage in Bangkok (as I'll most-likely end up there 2-3 days a week, it sucks I know), one would say there are many of those. I'm looking at buying a used Rebel 300 (2017) and afterwards customizing the heck out of it. This obviously due to legal reasons needs to be done by a Thai. I would be a 2017 model and afterwards upgrade the light to led and change the clutch and break handle as minimum and perhaps I go way crazier. So the question for all of you driving a motorbike out there is which garages are trustworthy. Thanks a ton, Shark

I don't ride my brand new Grand Filano hybrid very much. Like, maybe once or twice a week for short trips. Every time I go to use it, the battery is dead. I've been told by the dealer that I need to ride it every day. That just sounds like a load of BS. I don't see that recommendation in the manual, and you'd think, this being 2021 and the fact that the motor charges the battery during operation, that starting it up end driving it around every day shouldn't be necessary. I suspect it's a grounding issue and that the bike is slowly draining the battery when I leave it in the garage. I *do* put the key switch into the lock position FWIW. Here's the way I leave it.

Land transport worried about box sizes, really! How about motor bikes that are unseen at night due to no lights, or how about parked next to police station without number plates, helmets are required, where? Foreigner's are just as bad as the Thais. Thai people drive somewhat brain dead do foreigners have to also?
