Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer first brought out its Formula 1 collection in 1986, creating a watch that captured the high-octane spirit of the sport while also remaining deeply immersed in racing culture, thanks to its visual language matching that of the motorsport. Now, to commemorate the brand's second year as the official timekeeper for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, TAG Heuer is releasing a collaboration watch that's as race-ready as it is design-forward.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph X Goodwood Festival of Speed features a bright, bold green dial with a sunray-brushed effect and a green ceramic fixed bezel, with the colour doubly representing the verdant landscape of the Goodwood Estate and British motoring. Red accents on the second hand and chronograph brighten it up a little more (and also help with legibility), while a small red marking at 39 seconds serves as a nod to Goodwood's current hillclimb record of 39.08 seconds.
While it's undoubtedly a collectors' piece first and foremost, that doesn't mean that it holds back on the technical side. Powered by TAG Heuer's Calibre 16 automatic movement with a power reserve of 48 hours, it also features a chronograph with 1/4 second, 30 minute and 12 hour counters. It comes in a 44mm case with luminated indices, meaning that readability should also never be an issue.
This one is limited to just 500 pieces in the UK, and is priced at £4,250, available to order now.
