Cody Evol shared thisSo stoked to have been invited to join the Design Executive Council as a Forum Founding Member. Throughout my career, and honestly life in general, the thing I've valued most is community. Design has never been a solo sport, and neither is leading it. The chance for continued growth alongside some of the best design leaders in the world is an honor. Even more so now, when our roles are changing fast and the boundaries of traditional product design keep shifting. Community is all about sharing, so I'll look to share what I find in my journey and give honest, real-world examples to future design leaders and others out there. One thing I do know: design isn't dead. The tools may change and our approach may change, but our deep empathy for humans and human problems won't. Special shout out to Christina Goldschmidt and Gordon Ching, and Tanvi Lakdawala. So excited for the road ahead!

Cody Evol posted thisYou know what's awesome? Building something and not being told, "That's going to take two years to build", or "We can't do that", or "We can build that... but we need to cut scope for this other project". This is why designers are embracing tools like Cursor. It's completely changing how we work, and for the better. Product Design has never been this much fun, we can push the status quo in ways we have never been able to before. The new design currency is building.

Cody Evol shared thisIn just a few weeks, I’ll be riding my bicycle 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles as part of the final AIDS/LifeCycle ride. This ride isn't just about endurance. It's about raising critical funds for HIV/AIDS prevention and care, and showing up for vulnerable communities when it matters most. I'm proud to be part of this movement — not just as a cyclist, but as a leader committed to our community, resilience, impact, and giving back. I’ve set a fundraising goal of $10,000, and I’m currently at $7,469. If you or your company are looking for a meaningful cause to support — this is it. Cody Evol shared thisWhat started as a small design sprint to boost transparency for artists and songwriters turned into something much bigger, and today, it’s live! 🎉 So proud to launch WMG Pulse! We built Pulse to give artists and songwriters real-time insights into their music’s performance. This project began with a simple goal: make data more accessible and transparent. Along the way, we were inspired by the tools of music creation — mixers, keyboards, and synthesizers to craft a visual language that felt uniquely music. Kudos to the Pulse team for the speed, collaboration, and creativity to make this happen. From prototype to production, we moved fast and stayed focused on value. Big day for transparency. Big day for music.Cody Evol shared thisIntroducing WMG Pulse, a powerful new platform that puts clear, meaningful insights into the hands of artists and songwriters. Currently in beta by more than 100 of our artists and songwriters, WMG Pulse provides real-time insights across one consolidated view of streaming, audience, and social/UGC performance, paired with an up-to-date snapshot of an artist’s earnings across royalties, physical, sync, and more. It supports artists and songwriters at every stage of their careers, whether they’re managing a rich, diverse catalog or still looking to break their first big global hit. "With WMG Pulse, we’re providing greater transparency across the music ecosystem, including data from every major streaming and social media platform. The app offers a seamless, easy to use experience, giving deeper insights into careers and fan bases, with even more sophisticated updates still to come. It’s about empowering artists and songwriters with clarity, and helping them make smarter, data-driven decisions with their teams." - Ariel Bardin, President of Technology, WMG

In fact, the first word she uses to describe the transition is “terrifying.” On this episode of Build Mode, Isabelle Johannessen and Julia talk about learning to lead in real time, the uncertainty that comes with taking the top job, and why even experienced CEOs are sometimes making it up as they go. AI is changing product design and creation incredibly quickly, and I’ve found that some of the most valuable learning comes from comparing notes with other design leaders who are figuring it out in real time too. I’m looking forward to sharing what we’re learning, hearing what’s working for others, and pushing each other’s thinking on where design goes next.

Cody Evol reacted on thisCody Evol reacted on thisI’m proud to share that I’ve joined the Design Executive Council (DXC) as a Forum Founding Member. The Design Executive Council brings together senior design leaders from organizations across industries to advance the practice of design leadership and help shape what's next for our profession. I recently participated in a fireside chat led by Gordon Ching, and the conversation reinforced something I've been thinking about often. The fundamentals of leadership have not changed. We still need to create clarity, build strong teams, and deliver meaningful outcomes. What has changed is the pace. Decisions move faster. AI is reshaping how work gets done. Leaders are being asked to navigate increasing complexity while helping their organizations move forward with confidence. One discussion point that particularly resonated with me was the idea that effective leaders can hold opposing truths at the same time. We must bring stability while driving change. We must encourage innovation while managing risk. We must project confidence while remaining open to learning. What I value most about the Council is the opportunity to engage with peers who are working through the same challenges and opportunities. The conversations have already been thoughtful, practical, and refreshingly honest. Thank you to Gordon Ching and the Design Executive Council team for the invitation. I'm looking forward to learning from fellow members, participating in the upcoming mentorship series, and connecting with my pod host Andy Vitale. Design leadership is evolving quickly. I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the conversation and help elevate the role design plays in shaping products, experiences, and business outcomes. #DesignLeadership #DesignExecutiveCouncil #UXLeadership #DesignExecutive #AI #CustomerExperience #Leadership

Cody Evol reacted on thisCody Evol reacted on thisThrilled to be joining the Design Executive Council as a Founding Forum Member! Thank you so much to Rachel Been for my nomination. Design's role in driving outcomes for real people has never been more important, especially in this time where technology is both accelerating us and creating new ways of solving problems that didn't exist previously. And research, in my opinion, sits at the heart of that. We keep the work honest, grounded in real human behavior, and connected to problems that actually matter. With boundaries between disciplines coming down, it also means we sit at the intersection of data and building in a new and exciting way, and I can't wait to explore this space with the peers and mentors I'll be jamming with at DXC.

Enterprise tech has a design problem. Too often, design is treated as “look and feel” — a coat of paint added at the end. But this mindset is cumbersome -- and costly. Poorly designed systems overwhelm employees, slow adoption, and in high-stakes industries can carry huge consequences. Design isn’t optional. It’s a strategy. It’s systems thinking. It’s the force that makes technology actually work for people. Look at Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Figma. Each transformed not just tools, but the way people connect, collaborate, and create. That shift didn’t come from technology alone — it came from design. Where design takes the lead, transformation inevitably follows — that’s the future of enterprise. Most designers say they want impact. What they really want is proof. At scale, I had to formalize proof. I once built a quarterly UX strategy using Jared Spool's Persuasive Metrics to connect design decisions to revenue. A 2% reduction in onboarding friction translated into six figures in retained revenue. That was the language the room spoke. Dashboards. Quarterly reviews. Attribution models. Impact had to be quantified before it was believed. Now I’m at a tiny startup. Last week, a customer Slacked: “Magemetrics saves me days on campaign reports.” Following the rebrand, a prospect opened the site and said: “Okay. This feels serious.” These calls felt different: less explaining, fewer objections, more trust. No attribution model. No presentation. Just behavior changing in real time. Here’s what’s different: In enterprise, proof arrives as numbers. In startups, proof shows up as decisions. Enterprise feedback arrives filtered and quarterly; startup impact is immediate. Doubt slows deals. Confidence speeds them up. Immediacy forces clarity. You take fewer performative bets. You stop optimizing for presentations. You design to remove doubt. Because you’re not defending slides — you’re shaping what happens next.
