Should be a great talk.Derek Collison shared thisI've spent a big part of my career on RPC frameworks. This talk is what happens when you point those instincts at a message broker instead of a connection pool. Hot take: gRPC's best ideas have nothing to do with HTTP/2. Deadlines, cancellation, typed contracts, streaming — those are what make it pleasant to build on. The pinned connection underneath is just the transport we inherited. At Verrus we kept the patterns and swapped the substrate: a transport-agnostic RPC framework running natively over NATS, with CloudEvents on the wire and Protobuf as the source of truth. Unary, fire-and-forget, and server-streaming calls over pub/sub — queue-group load balancing, deadline propagation, cancellation, and OTel traces flowing end-to-end. At MQ Summit I'll cover the call lifecycle, the NATS patterns that made it work, and where this genuinely wins over gRPC — and where it costs you. Haarlem, NL & online · 21–22 October 2026. Connect to the shared, unauthenticated NATS demo and try it out 2️⃣ Jetris demo A bit more complex usage. Try the WASM version or run it locally, then use the CLI to observe game behavior on the target server 3️⃣ Local NATS server Run nats-server, starts with no config (unauthenticated, port 4222). Add --jetstream for persistence 4️⃣ Config generation LLMs (Claude) are now quite good at producing sample configs when pointed at the docs — e.g. accounts, restricted-permission users, a 3-node cluster 5️⃣ Shared clustered system Use the Helm chart, or a free Synadia Cloud account 6️⃣ Secured multi-tenant setup Follow the Synadia Control Plane trial. Great writeup. love to see NATS enabling more reliable systems. Synadia is here if the bar gets even higher and you need more from NATS. We've helped reliability focused customers in the most critical industries build active/active mutli-cloud systems, and our roadmap around extreme reliability for industrial settings is shaping up nicely!

HsinHo Yeh Sandboxes will be needed, but how agents discover and connect and communicate, and access data they need for context will be the main focus for us.

We’re donating funding, tokens, and compute credits for three years. The technical work is already done. Omarchy's packaging build servers, the agent runners that process pull requests and issues, and the Droplets used for QA testing all moved to DigitalOcean. Agent workloads need compute that starts fast, does a job, and goes away, which is a different shape from a long-running server.
