Proud to be building this.Eric Middleton shared thisI spent last week at 🏗️ #BuiltWorlds in Chicago doing what I've always loved as a product builder - learning about hard problems! At this construction innovation event, I was grateful to be learning from the people actually running construction operations day to day: ops leads whose job is to make the plan survive contact with the reality of the job site. One that stuck with me was with an operational leader at a large concrete subcontractor. Every day, after a full shift on an elevated deck pour, his crew members spend close to two hours each manually re-entering the day's work into a daily report app, crew by crew, cost code by cost code. Quantities placed. Hours worked. Equipment standby. Buried in that same report, almost every week, was pump standby time that was contractually billable back to a vendor and never got billed, because nobody had time to check the contract clause against the log. That's not a technology-adoption problem. The company has plenty of good software. The gap is that the system only sees reality if a skilled person stops doing their real job to type it in. Here's what most AI in this space gets wrong: it points a copilot at the paperwork. But construction isn't language. It's equipment, crews, and materials, in specific places, at specific times, all related to each other. The report describes the work. It isn't the work. Making the data entry faster is worth doing, but it's not the win. Cut his crew members’ two hours to two minutes and you've helped one person have a better day. The real unlock is what that data does next. Captured once, that pour should update equipment utilization across sites, flag the billable hour on its own, feed next week's crew plan, and tighten cost-to-complete. One capture, a dozen decisions. Not one report nobody reads twice. At construction margins and scaled operations, this is real money. Unbilled hours and missed specs become more than rounding errors. Small leaks sink the boat. The operators I talked to aren't asking for yet another dashboard. They want their best people's judgment in the system, without taxing the people who hold it. The anxiety is especially sharp outside the US, where sovereign AI isn't a buzzword but a core procurement question. Enterprises we talk to in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and beyond are thinking carefully about their AI architectures from a global perspective. This special anniversary marks 250 years of American leadership, dynamism, innovation, equal opportunity and freedom. As an American, the son of immigrants, a Navy veteran, and CEO of an American-based company, those qualities have played a central role in my life. Those qualities will also define America’s future. From modernizing critical infrastructure to advancing manufacturing and the technologies that will power the next century, this is a moment of extraordinary opportunity. I’m especially proud that Jacobs gets to play a critical role in that story. My first job was in the emergency room of a hospital. Security turned out to be a core aspect of protecting and serving patients. With AI reshaping how schools, city governments, and public health systems navigate risks that grow more sophisticated by the day, I couldn't be more excited to join a market leader helping customers deliver products and services securely and with confidence.
